    At any Mexican restaurant just order the "combination plate" and you'll have a nice sampling of what they offer. (P.S. Buc-ee's are pretty much just in the Texaplex (DFW>SA/Austin>Houston triangle) so geography counts in Texas.)

      Mannn o' man, yes! Frito-Pie ain't a pie, but it is 100% good.
      Gitch'a big bag of Fritos, pour it in a big ol' bowl. Ladle-over some screaming hot beef Chili con Carne, and yes, no beans. BUT, you can drop a big ladle of spicy borracho beans on the chili. Then top it with some shredded Cheddar cheese, or shredded Manchego cheese. Then throw some diced onions, & sliced Serrano, or Jalapeňo peppers on top. Then start to mixing it up, and chowing down.
      Sorry folks no sour cream dollop. Frankly, its obscene to ruin a good Frito-Pie with sour cream. Unless your a pretty girl, then its allowed. Since it's Texas, use fried salted corn tortillas chips. instead of crackers to eat with the chili. You can substitute some hot sauce of your choice instead of the jalapeňo peppers.
      For dessert, the Ladies get "Blue Bell Rocky Road" ice cream, and a fried cinnamon corn tostada to eat with the ice cream.
      For the men, Y'all just need another beer. Ya' done ate too much gotdang Frito-pie and your belts too dang tight now already. Above all, enjoy yourselves. Don't worry bout the kids, just microwave 'em some dang cheese pizza slices; they love that cardboard stuff anyways. They'll shut-up just long enough for you to pretend they don't exist. To drink for the meal...
      Men: Beer
      Ladies: Sweet Ice Tea
      Kids: Cokes or Kool-Aid.

    This is my new favorite EATS video. Super comprehensive. Nailed it, Jocelyn.
    *fajitas* - I’m thinking when you visited Galveston you didn’t spend much time in Houston where modern fajitas originated. Mexican cowboys in Texas marinated skirt steak a century ago but Ninfa’s (I’ve been) in Houston made it famous in the ‘70s and now every US chain restaurant serves fajitas it seems! 😆 Yup. Fajitas are delicious and fun for a crowd. Possibly the ultimate Tex-Mex! 👍

    There was a time when you'd get kicked out of Texas if you didn't at least pretend that you liked Lone Star or Pearl beer.
    That lasted until maybe the late 1980s but the change started out in the 70s when Miller Light became available here.
    It's ok now to skip trying Lone Star if you're here. Quite honestly it used to be pretty good compared to beers in decades past but it's really not that great especially compared to what's available now.
    Another really good alcoholic drink that folks often just don't try because of what it is - Eastciders apple cider here from Texas is much more like the hard cider you get in the UK. It's demi sec or medium sweet vs most other American ciders that may as well be alchopops. I wouldn't consider it much of a light or refreshing beverage but it might be worth a try!!

    • @WoltersWorldEats
      @WoltersWorldEats  2 года назад +1

      😆 my kids love Whataburger. I think their burgers are really salty and not really my thing. However, I'm not sure I'd choose BK over WB. But that might be influenced by the fact that our BK is like the slowest drive thru on earth. 🤷‍♀️
