Forget about the calories and dig in!! Montana can be a bit of a food desert, especially in the really rural areas, but the cities have amazing food. Micro breweries are everywhere. Don't forget to have a trout dinner!!
I grew up in a cattle ranch on the border between ND and Montana. I can honestly say through many trials that the only way to eat calf ballz is fresh out of the animal and cooked in the branding fire with a little salt and pepper and beer chaser! All the breading and other concoctions only take away from the true flavor
Ah. Pasties. Mmm, mmm. My very first was in Missoula, MT. Have you guys ever visited Cornwall, England? I love that Cornish miners introduced pasties to the U.S. in the 19th century. I've had pasties in Michigan, California, Pennsylvania... and even in Mexico City. Same migration. Cornish miners flocked to Hidalgo, Mexico for silver mining in the 1800s. Very cool I think. (BTW, it's PASS-tees. PAY-stees are, well, another thing. 😂)
Ughhh we have a Black Bear Diner here in my town and it's *NASTY* AF. I don't know if it's a management or location or what, but it's disgusting and we'll never give them our business again.
Jocelyn : this was probably in the top 4 videos of yours I ever watched just wish it was longer ! I was born and raised in the bronx N.Y. in 1954 I live. Out side of billings . For the last 31 years , I didn't find your channel till after you made this video. BUT every thing you talked about I have eaten here. The Rocky mountain oysters and beer , at the Rocky mountain oyster festivals are great.. I don't go to them any more to crazy for my old body ! Don't want to get into any fights ! Thank you Frank from montana.. Ps if you and your family ever come back this way again have a meet and greet.
“Balls are just an appetizer.” Lol. Man I want that big sandwich. There is a place her called Ike loves sandwiches that has that Dutch crunch bread. Their full size is as big as that 1/2. Gotta have it now. :)
that looked like really good Chicken fried steak. You'll have to try some down here in Texas and see how it compares. There's a place in OKC called Kendall's that has a KFS the will fill up a huge platter. Always wanted to go there to see if it's as good as it is HUGE
You got flathead cherries? Damn I can never get my hands on those and I've been just south of the line for 11 years😩. Everytime I find them they're sold out😣. I've always been told they're the best but I've yet to get any, always last on the drawl I guess.
They are good, not as good as Rainier cherries though. I was getting flathead cherries pretty cheap at WinCo in Helena 2 weeks ago. As usual, the Rainer cherries were 4x the price of the Rainiers.
I don't because restaurants can change and I'd hate to recc a place then it changes hands/chefs etc and is no longer any good. We had some CFS in West Yellowstone that was good!
Rocky mountain oysters are seasonal 😂 so many things I could say about that, you mean the bulls don't have them year round 😂. Just kidding, love the videos.
good to know I can get fresh monkfish, swordfish, halibut and sardines from all of the great amazing rivers and "things" that your fishing! LOL. And I lived there not knowing this!
Great video... but you sure know how to hurt a guy!!! I have Celiac disease so I can't have anything with wheat, barley or rye in it!! That sucks!! and anything gluten free pretty much tastes like cardboard!!
Pasties are also common in upper Michigan

Lol me and my bad pronunciation
I giggled when she said PAY-stees lol because I was thinking of that other thing ;) lol.
All these foods look amazing
Your driving me crazy, woman. I'm starving. Bison, beef, lamb, tacos, pickles...I'm on the way!
Chicken fried steaks are the best. Black Bear Diner gives you a huge portion. The bison is to die for.
Thanks for the recommendation!

I'm glad a local finds it to be good info!! Thanks, Frank 😁
We were in Montana at the end of June, and I definitely regret not buying a Huckleberry milkshake. I'll have to buy one the next time I visit.
Sooooo good!
Nice to hear this amazing things in beautiful montana
Love your videos Jocelyn! I’d love to see some videos about New Mexico next time you’re here!
We absolutely will be back! My cousin lives there and I owe her a visit.

yeah, those pictures you sent were INSANE BIG
Can't wait to try it with y'all!
Amazing❤
Other good sandwich shops in Montana are Chalet Market and Staggering Ox (both are in Billings). Wilcoxson's also has amazing fudge bars!
I'll be sure to stop in those places next trip!
At this point, my biggest motivation to visit the USA is the food 🤣
That's not entirely a bad thing.
Exactly why I love to go to new places.
lovely !
Thanks
Indian Tacos are amazing !!
I agree.
That's a big half sandwich,I'll pass on the rocky mountain oysters,I do like boudin balls but their not really balls 😄 🤣
I saw the thumb nail and read it first as " What to Fat in Montana"!
Well with that good looking food you might just be after, enjoy😊
Most assuredly!
Sounds like something Bye-den would say >.> lol.
I laughed so hard at this...
Fry bread! Yum!!!
I'm beer drinker so interesting Montana 🌎🇧🇷🇺🇸🙏🏻💖
Lots of microbrews

@@rhiahlMT idk, Ranier cherries are a dime a dozen here, I eat them all the time but I'm longing to find flatheads and compare them
@@heidimarchant5438 The Rainiers are better IMHO. First time I had them was when I lived in Olympia, WA.
Copperline Pasty Company makes some of the best pasties, while the best pork chop sandwich can be had in Butte.
I'll try and check that out when we are in Butte!
Hi guys great video. Is there much cuisine for vegetarians?
It's definitely meat heavy but I think you can manage as a vegetarian. You may find yourself eating lots of salads but it can be done.
Where in Arizona did you get fry bread
Do you list the restaurants anywhere? Where did you find that Chicken Fried Steak?
I don't because restaurants can change and I'd hate to recc a place then it changes hands/chefs etc and is no longer any good. We had some CFS in West Yellowstone that was good!

Loll right! I thought that was strange but it has to do with, erm, harvesting at certain times of the year..probably right after they mate?
@@WoltersWorldEats Ughhh gross lol.

Gonna pass on those RM Oysters. 🤣🤣🤣
I've had them once. It was enough.
As soon as I saw that meat in the plate I was drooling...... Oh dear diet.... 😁😅
😆
You said Pasties wrong. It’s a short “a” not a long “a”.
Yeah, I had a brain fart🙄😆
I'm surprised a southern food of Chicken fried steak can be found in Montana
It's not just Southern. In my experience it's just good ol home cookin.
Pahhhsties. "Paisties?" Ask a "dancer" what those are. lol
Great video... but you sure know how to hurt a guy!!! I have Celiac disease so I can't have anything with wheat, barley or rye in it!! That sucks!! and anything gluten free pretty much tastes like cardboard!!
Definitely butchered the pronunciation of Pasty.
they know how to make some yummy looking mashed potatoes
Not just yummy looking, yummy tasting too!
Ahh Pasties are Irish not English
Pasty not pastey
