Nebraskan 23yrs now love the food glad it's my home
Thanks for visiting our beautiful Nebraska! Glad you liked it :)
Pork Tenderloins, Steak, and Kool Aid....and some sweet corn. 🌽 Yumminess! 😂 Thanks for sharing Joselyn!
Cinnamon rolls and chili were the best school lunches, everyone looked forward to it. Runzas are based on the Czech ancestors of the state(wilber hosts Czech days and its a blast) it's close to a beirock.
I can vouch for Wilbur Czech days being a great event!
Can confirm that schools here serve chili and cinnamon rolls.
mine did ,mid 60;s, in Iowa
Hello 👋 greetings from here
I grew up in Nebraska and this video with the strong wind blowing in the mike is 100% authentic!
😆 truth!
Red beer is a little different in parts of Nebraska. My favorite way of drinking a red beer is to add a little salt and put a pickle in it. When you are done drinking the red beer you eat the pickle
I'm from Scottsbluff and yes chili and cinnamon roll days at schooled were the best. Cabbage burgers were very tasty too, with ketchup on the side. Lincoln Heights Elementary also served a delicious sandwich called YumYum on a bun. It was a tangy beef sandwich that was delectable. Another reason I'm glad that I was a child of the 70s.
Pro tip: Dorothy Lynch on some Valentino's pizza, especially beef, is surprisingly amazing!
Valentino’s beef pizza is the best imo
Grew up in Omaha and Valentino's was a big part of my childhood!
As native Nebraskans from Scottsbluff living in Charlotte NC for 38 years we never tasted a Runza until last November when we went to Omaha. My ancestry is German/Russian so my relatives always made Cabbage Burgers which is what a Runza is. I make these in the winter months for us and always think back with fond memories when my mother taught me how. Chili and cinnamon rolls were served for lunch in the 60’s at our schools in Scottsbluff. Great food!
Hello from Gering
Hello 👋 greetings from here
Amazes us Nebraskans listening to outsiders, then smile. Do yourselves a favor, try the Branding Iron restaurant in Wahoo, Ne. G.
We are glad you like our foods and drinks. Did miss two other places called Valentino's and Amigo's but I'm not mad about it. Thanks for visiting our state! Feel free to come back when you want. Nebraska will always smile on you and every visitor!
Amigos and valentinos are awesome
@@nevermindme8922I beg to differ
I'll never forget my uncle (who is a native Nebraskan) loading up gallons of Dorothy Lynch to take back to Texas with him whenever he came to visit. Great vid about my wonderful home state, thank you!! A couple of Nebraska food staples you missed is Fuehrer's Cheespred and Fairbury hotdogs. Both of these can be found in nearly every Nebraska household. The Fairbury Hotdogs and Valentino's pizza is the fuel that flows through Memorial Stadium on gamedays.
Fairbury Hotdogs are on that is missed often. I will have to look up that cheespred, I am not familiar with it.
What about Val's Pizza ? That is one of the top 3 here !
As a lifelong Nebraskan I love this video! Would you believe that today 9/30 Runza starts serving Chili & Cinnamon Rolls for the season? - you have to come back! And yes they served it as a meal for school lunch growing up. Finally, you are so close on the pizza - it’s actually just “hamburger” pizza and this is the only type of pizza available from Valentino’s at Memorial Stadium on Husker football game days! Come back soon and check out Omaha! ❤️
We absolutely will spend some time in Omaha! Thanks for the clarification!
Hello 👋 greetings from here
My great grandmother and grand mother both made graut runzas. It is a ethnic food by Germans from Russia that migrated to Nebraska in the early 1900s. My wife has my great aunt's recipe and it is delicious. There are Runza Drive-Ins in Longmont and Ft Collins, Colorado.
Most of us don't dip the cinnamon rolls. They're served together, but not combined.
Speak for yourself!! Haha I’m Nebraskan born and raised and I grew up dipping my cinnamon rolls in my chili. It’s pretty common in my area.
@@Em-rp9ho same here, but we still never dipped. OPS always did toasted cheese sandwiches with the chili. We only ever had cinnamon rolls @ breakfast.
Hello 👋 greetings from here
I grew up just across the border into Kansas and we used to have homemade Cinnamon rolls or homemade donuts with chilli in school.
I love kansas ❤ I'm from omaha
Hello 👋 greetings from here
I have found that Wal-Mart was stocking Dorthy Lynch on the top self in the dressing area in Texas.
When COVID started and they began mandatory city-wide non essential business shut downs, my first thought immediately was, “Crap, how am I supposed to get my Runzas now!?”...priorities right?! 😂
😆 priorities!
You missed the Nebraska version of Kolaches! They are not to be missed! You can’t find them everywhere. If you hit a local mom and pop bakery in Nebraska you will have the best chance of finding Kolaches. (Also have found them at a local bakery in Loveland, Colorado, and a Daylight Donuts in Casper, Wyoming). What is a Nebraska Kolache? It is a Czech dish, a delicious bread roll with a place in the middle to put fruit filling. Kind of like a Danish, but with a bread roll instead of flaky pastry. You’ll find them with cherry, Apple, blueberry fillings. More traditional is apricot, prune or poppyseed fillings. The last two must be tried! Nebraska kolaches differ from Texas kolaches in that Texas kolaches are made with sausage and cheese in the middle. They are very tasty too. Just not from Nebraska. The absolute best place to find kolaches is in Wilbur, Nebraska. Go about 20 miles west of Lincoln, Nebraska on I-80, then drive about 30 miles south of the interstate. There’s Wilbur, a cute little Czech town. My grandma was a Czech descendant from Nebraska and I got them at grandma’s house growing up. My sister has learned to make them and I get them when I visit her in Omaha. Hope some of you out there get to try some Nebraska kolaches!
I was going to say you have to get them in Wilbur.
I miss Nebraska.
Dorothy Lynch dressing is awesome.
Hello 👋 greetings from here
I had chili an cinnamon roll as a kid in school all the time
You forgot Amigos! It's like a fast food Mexican place! So good!
Absolutely! Amigo's is one of the best parts of this state!
Hello 👋 greetings from here
I never heard of the cinnamon roll one before. All the others are spot on (and delicious!)
it's really good and you can get it at Runza during the winter
Dorothy Lynch dressing is made with Campbell's tomato soup.
I must have ancestors from Nebraska. I used to dip my cinnamon rolls in my chili in grade school. It's so good.
Seriously? I'd never heard of it until now.
@@WoltersWorldEats people from Utah thought it was weird that'd I do that. It's so good though.
Awesome video.
l think its awesome yall are exploring our beautiful country. BTW, you're such a natural in front the camera Jocelyn😍
Thank you, that's kind of you as I'm particularly nervous about the camera.
Simply Jocelyn We love seeing you too!
Hello 👋 greetings from here
Amigos / Kings Classic is only in Nebraska to all over the state. It's comparable to Taco Bell or Taco Johns national chain of restaurants. My favorite is the chips n cheese with meat and 2 hard shell tacos with a large Dr pepper NO ICE.
First of all, Nebraska looks good on you Mrs. Wolters. You just keep looking younger as these videos go on.
Secondly, how dare you make a food video of Nebraska without mentioning Valentino's pizza!! I think it's the best pizza in the world.
Good luck with your RUclips channel.
Yes, I messed up not speaking of Valentino's. Thanks for the kind compliment.
@@WoltersWorldEats I hope you read my words in jest with the tone. Sometimes joking tone doesn't come across in text.
FYI - The majority of those fields & fields of corn in Nebraska is either seed corn or fee / stock corn or corn to be ground but seldom is people eating or sweet corn grown
*_Reuben_* - I recall Mark saying you haven't visited NYC in your adulthood. No? The Reubens there are delicious. Top 5 American sandwich on my list of greatest American sandwiches! Yes, super interesting that it was invented in Nebraska. Fantastic bit of food trivia. 👍
*_Pork Tenderloin_* - I was expecting to read someone from Indiana saying that the breaded pork tenderloin sandwich was invented in the Hoosier state. Before and during my first trip to Indianapolis, ALL of my business colleagues mentioned it. Stopped at a bar on my way to the airport and finally had one. That tiny bun is hilarious indeed.
*_You know I really dig food videos._* Loved this. Well done. 👍
Nope, I've never been to NYC. It's a bit embarrassing really. I'm not sure that the tenderloin was invented in NE, simply a big eat of NE. They are also prevalent in IN, IL, and IA. I am happy you're enjoying the food videos🤗
Are you sure about that? Schnitzel has been around in Germany for a very long time, exactly the same thing, and they love eating everything with or in rolls. Wouldn't surprise me if that came directly over with immigrants and just got jumbo sized with full tenderloins on a bun here.
Oh and by the way when you are standing near Scottsbluff National Monument in Scottsbluff Dorothy Lynch salad dressing was created in St. Paul near Grand Island in the central part of the state.
Next time you guys should try
Johnny Sortino's Pizza in omaha nebraska
Thanks for the heads-up!
Interesting. Learned a lot in this one. Thanks!
Very cool information, thanks. Great local Nebraska food options.
Well done! As someone from Nebraska, spot on.
I'm so glad you approve!
I love pork tenderloins!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I’m watching this as I’m literally packing to go visit family in Omaha tomorrow. All great things to know. That drive through there is brutal though.
Enjoy your family time!
Great, now i have to get chili and a cinnamon roll for lunch
seriously tasty and not really thought of before combo
You will not regret it!
Good video! I'm a little surprised you didn't mentioned Valentino's pizza which is a staple here in Nebraska.
Yes, I should have mentioned them with the pizzas!
That steak looked stellar as well as all of the food displayed including with the cheeseburger pizza lol. I have not had Dorrhy Lynch dressing in a long time. I had tried it once eating dinner at a friends house years ago. :)
hey darion! the steaks were really good
Wolters World I bet !!!! Yum yum yummy
The southerner in me says the breaded pork needs gravy 😋
As a one-time Savannah resident I totally get that. But, these tenderloins are really juicy and crispy, like proper fried chicken, and gravy would detract from that.
Runzas are based off of bierocks.
Hello 👋 greetings from here
They still serve chili and cinnamon rolls in schools
I had no clue about Kool-aid,had a pork tenderloin in the airfryer tonight while I watched your livestream 😄 🤣.
How was it in the air fryer??
It was great,I cook alot in the air fryer always comes out great.I cook steak, chicken,Pork, salmon,Tuna,Catfish I love it.
I’m from Hastings and each summer there is a big festival called kook-aid days
Me and my family want to visit America but we dont have a clue where to go or what to do its such a big place with so many different places
We have lots of USA Travel videos on Wolters World! There is a USA Travel playlist and another that is by State. Dm us on IG or FB if you need help.
@@WoltersWorldEats thanks a lot
Hey! Where do they serve those tenderloins?
Eee, I don't remember where we got the one in the vid. but they are popular enough that you can find them without too much effort.
I’ve lived here In Omaha for 30 years and never have seen one THAT big! 😂
No v8 in a red beer, tomato juice only
Anyone that has eaten in the Panhandle of Nebraska that has eaten their authentic Mexican food and the China House and had real cabbage burgers German Russian everything else pales in compariaon
Let me get my Hat Dinner in Omaha Steaks I take the BIG one !! Ha Ha
Comparison lol
Poptart
:)
Meth
Jocelyn tho
..do people not eat chili with cinnamon rolls? Pure chaos
You haven’t had German Russian cabbage burgers and El Charrito and smothered cheese enchiladas in pork chili in Scottsbluff and the best oriental food ever in Gering at the China House in Main Street and award winning from NYC and oh how about Scotty’s and the Tasty Taverns and Runza is nothing. Real homemade cabbage burgers and don’t forget homemade butterball soup .. Jocelyn you don’t know anything
I can't cover every food in a state or even region. It's why we ask ppl to kindly add their favorites in the comments section. Emphasis on kindly. 😬
@@WoltersWorldEats sorry if I wasn’t kind but go try it out and you will know the best food in Scottsbluff and don’t forget German sausage and panhandle coop because people from all over the US buy it and take it home in coolera
I’m sorry, but the food looks disgusting. The sandwich you guys keep showing from the restaurant looks so gross! Beer with V8?! 🤮 The only thing that looks good in this video is Jocelyn. 😚
What are you 8?
That tenderloin looks amazing. The cheeseburger pizza is fire and who doesn’t like steak? I agree with the comment above. You must be 8
Also, I don't know how national they got, but Valentino's and Godfathers Pizza got their starts in Lincoln and Omaha respectively.
