- Recipe cornbread dressing
Old cornbread
1/2 red onion
1 white onion
Fresh sage
1/2 tsp. Ground sage
2 sticks unsalted butter
1 cup chicken breast or any meat of your preference
1egg beat
Chicken stock
1tsp. Kosher salt
Sweet potato pie
6 sweet potatoes
6 eggs
1 lb. Butter unsalted- 4 sticks
1tsp. Lemon flavor
1tsp. Salt
1/2 tsp nutmeg
1 cup of flour
1 tsp. Baking powder
1tsp. Baking soda
Pour a little buttermilk
Sugar to taste

She reminds me so much of my grandma. Her voice, the way she instructs and takes over lol is the same. I had to laugh when she was talking about your spoon. My grandma would do the same if one of us didn’t have something she was accustomed to using. I was able to make my first sweet potato pie the Thanksgiving before she passed. I still can hear her say, "Nikki you did that as she ate it!" Happy tears, thank you for sharing. ❤

It is now, Nov., 2023. I am 78 years old old. The cooking was phenomenal..but even without the cooking, to be treated with such respect and honour, is such a blessing, I don't know where to begin. The Lord is going to bless you. I am so full!!

I just love mama old fashion cooking. I thought that was too much butter but you guy’s did the taste. Too much butter makes it buttery, that’s why the husband wanted more sugar. She said it was a half size cup so when she put the four cups in there it was only 2 cups of sugar so when the husband put one cup and mama put 1 cup in the bowl all together it was just 3 cups of sugar, which I would have put in four cups altogether because when you bake the oven takes away some of the sweet taste. Just FYI so when baking use a 1/2 cup extra and it will be the taste you are looking for. It look good, but that was a lot of butter 4 sticks
It was not that much potatoes- I enjoy the way mama cook. I will try her stuffing. I have never used fresh sage, but I can image it’s a good taste

when I make sweet potato pie I get as many stringy pieces out as possible before adding butter sugar etc if not when cleaning off beaters part of sugar etc gets thrown away.

@FloJoBum flour is to hold it together and baking soda because of milk it won’t be flat it will bring out the flavor.

I learned throughout the years that it does not matter if the strings are in the sweet potatoes cuz they will evaporate into the pie and when you cut that pie you can't find that one string😅

North we say dressing, and down South they call it stuffing, well most do😂😂
And there are people that uses stuffing mix., and swear up and down it’s dressing😂😂😂That I would pass on in a heart beat.
