They're not meant to be upgraded each year anyway so it's not a big deal that there's not a big differencr between current phone and new new phone a year later.
I have s22 Ultra. And there is litterly no need for me to change it for something more modern. I plan on having this phone until somthing phone changing happens, or until my phone dies.
As a midrange user : it's one reason I target an upgrade every 5 years. It'll be long enough for the average OS update to start being outdated, the performance/camera improvement would've start mattering, and there's enough new features being developed to try out all at once.

Then I went for a budget Realme phone, it lasted. Rain & puddle, the things that killed my 2 Samsung didn't kill this phone. Drops? This phone dropped at least 15 times. Still alive since 2019. I'm still using it today and already saving my budget for the next Chinese phone. Xiaomi, Tecno, Vivo. I'm feeling like trying something different again. This phone already has damaged volume button, cracked screen, speaker isn't high quality, and it's using Android 10. It's still usable, but it's time to update my phone for something with newer Android ver, better performance, camera & storage.
Even this is not enough for a phone change. Just make sure you put on more security measures. Download an antivirus, make sure you avoid phising websites and the like
Couldn't agree more. I just received the Galaxy AI update on my Z Fold 4. Again justifying my decision to not waste money on the Fold 5. Heck it even looks like the Fold 5. Unless you're like us reviewers cursed with the need to buy every new device, your phones can really last you at least 3 years. I used my Galaxy Note 10 Plus for 3 years, and by the time I was letting go of it, I was satisfied by how much it served me. Still could've gone another year if I didn't like the S22 Ultra. Hw about someone like me using one device (samsung a30s) since 2019 but can't upgrade bcuz of the price of phones getting higher and higher as the years go by, and I plan to use it till next year cuz no money to upgrade. Its laging like a great grandpa 😂
My Logic 1. Sacrifice and buy a good midranger with fairly sized battery (e.g., 5000mAh) and good processor (e.g., Antutu 500,000+) and a camera that churns out some decent photos. 2. Don't update the OS. Just be contented with what it came with. No update will ever beat the performance of the stock version IMO. 3. Install only apps you need. Be conservative and avoid installing every app you encounter or hear about. 4. Master your device, let it not master you. Use it when needed. Don't drink up your productive time on your smartphone. If you have a computer, use it for more tasks that need more processing power than your smartphone can give. 5. Charge between 20% and 80%. Avoid cycling the battery from full to empty every time. Be conservative. 6. Always back up your data on an external hard drive or the cloud. Avoid filling up your smartphone with content you don't need. It will slow down. 7. Enjoy the damn thing for about five years and rinse and repeat. Good luck! Am writing from a Huawei KII-L21 from 2015 🤣🤣🤣🤣. Am upgrading this year. This thing is quite tired and almost giving up its ghost.
I would disagree with the 2nd point. Although Nothing might be an exception my NP1 is performing much better than it was 2 years ago. I just replaced the battery and will use it for a couple more years and will decide to either replace the battery or replace the phone. I have NFC for tap and pay on this phone and every other feature is already available so nothing can make me upgrade except just feeling like I want to
@@oscarmini Honestly I just recently bought the Galaxy S21 5G (Snapdragon 888) and it is an absolute monster, Call of Duty at highest graphics settings @ 60fps is child's play, It even supports medium graphics at 120fps on this device, battery life is a bit of a problem though so I would love to get the S21 plus next month so my life will be complete 😂😂. I love gadgets more than human beings

Today, people have completely forgotten what a smartphone really is and what purposes it has been created for. Everybody wants to get the newest and most expensive smartphone just not to look obsolete and for all those fancy reasons... I'm sad and disappointed just by thinking about the fact that smartphones today are no longer the useful everyday tool they used to be, but just a mere wealthy- and fashion-looking tool...😞
Flagships are equipped with the top of the line processors with hardware and software support to back that up. Mean while entry lvl to midrangers had either a good software or a good hardware there's little to no in between. Software support are mid at best too (only samsung has good software support for midrangers so far)
@LloydZyanRUy midrangers now are more than capable of handing anything you throw at them . All the extra features on flagships are gimmicky . Once a device has a decent processor and good cameras that's all most people need which one can get in alot midrangers. The gap between flagship and midrangers is no longer there

I had a Samsung Galaxy J5 Prime that lasted me 9-10 years... then i had the Galaxy A20s that lasted 5 years.. currently own the Galaxy A34 i recently got in February and i love this phone. No problems and i plan on keeping it for years to come. The only 2 brands i ever owned in all my life was Samsung and Nokia.. all from Nokia 1100 and the Samsung J700i. So im good for a couple years to come
Once you go premium you'll look at your other devices like what was I thinking My first premium phone was an s21 which I still have my second was the pixel 8 Both small powerful fast phones with great features and cameras I still but budget phones as well just because I like phones and well they are more affordable

Yeah, i totally agree with you. I used my phone for 3 years (tecno pova) and it still works fine after i changed the down board last week. Since it has a bigger battery than my current phone i use it for my podcasts, to read novels etc. My new phone is for calls 😊
On holidays I stay on pc and forget abt my phone and I am not preoccupied with its performance anymore . In conclusion the less you use your phone... The more you will use it
This is one of the sober minds I've met online. In fact, just be sure of the company you purchase from. I mean, the trusted mobile companies and buy it once and relax. I just changed my Huawei this year after 6 years and still I have it. I did this to get more stuffs that couldn't be found in it plus the battery was now out of service
The only phone you should purchase is one that's regularly receiving software and security updates. When the phone no longer receives security updates then upgrade.
I agree with you. I ever used a phone for 5years, Infinix specifically, and truly when it starts given me battery issues and camera malfunction then I changed it but before that, it was always enough.

Im still using my Huawei P30 which I bought in 2019 for 440 EUR. It has not seen an Update since 2021 and still runs android 10. The battery still gets me through a whole day easily, which is the most impressive thing about this phone. Ive got it for 5 years now and the battery is still good. Battery life decreased though because when I got the phone it lasted 2 days. In terms of value for price its the best phone I ever had and as long as all my apps work and the battery does not fail I'll keep it.
I upgraded after 5 years 6 months. Used a mid range device before. Bought a mid range device again. I mean flagship or not we all are using it basically for the main purposes. Calling and texting which can be done anyway. If battery Life was never an issue i would never ever have upgraded
Yeah....I'm still using my Samsung Galaxy S9+, a 6 year old flagship but I had it for 5 years. What does that mean? Not only was it more affordable to get at the time the Galaxy S10 series was new, the hardware upgrades and features were minimum. Also, every time a new model is out, not only is it too expensive, there's gonna be bugs. So when my model phone at the time turned one year old, any glitches it had were solved with software updates and it performed better than it did as well as how it holds up compared to its successor. While my phone does not get upgrades anymore, it still works well. I have no intention to upgrade anytime soon. I will keep using my Galaxy S9+ until it cannot perform as a phone anymore.
Still rocking my I phone 14 pro max I got when it first launched. Even though my battery health is at 81 percent, that part is disappointing, it’s still performing like a champ!
I bought the pixel 7a a week after launch to use as my daily driver to replace my Samsung Note 8. The note is still in use though, at home for the dex connectivity to my TV. And it still lasted a day & a half on battery. I wanted a slightly smaller phone though & I didn't see the need for a flagship anymore either. Hopefully, in a few years' time, in my case, probably 5+, foldables will be cheaper & screen tech will have advanced, as they are an interest.....
I honestly kinda disagree with some of these. Firstly, my phone is a samsung s21 fe, and I will definitely need to upgrade when the s25 lineup comes out. Because the performance isn't good enough. It runs very smoothly, but lags in games. And I game a lot on my phone, playing demanding games like genshin impact. I need that performance upgrade, purely for better gaming experience. Also everyone is saying that it's a bad idea to game while charging... it is NOT. I was doings that ever since this phone came out and I bought it in 2021, and my battery health is still 94%. If you need better performance, connect that charger. New samsung phones have pass through charging - the power from the charger will go directly to the cpu, increasing the performance. And for some people like me, we definitely need to upgrade often because the gaming performance becomes inconsistent
With performance as it relates to use case ( which hardly changes, if at all ) you soon hit diminishing returns. Shouldn't surprise anyone that profit margins are higher on flagships, because thats where they can rip you off without anyone batting an eye. Even more so after they removed chargers from retail boxes

Totally agree with this. Reason i still use my pixel 6 and refused to upgrade to pixel 7 and 8. If i dont see a huge difference with pixel 9 when it drops, ill continue with the 6
Another tip. Clean the USBC port. Cut a piece of plastic from an old water bottle or similar. Fold in half and cut to a point. Use it to run around the inside of the port. Won't cause damage but getting rid of the fluff and dirt will prevent arcing on the pins. (You can use a metal pick, but I think plastic is better if you don't know what you're doing) . If you have a spare phone, you can take a picture of the inside on high magnification to see any debris still in there. When it's clean, wiggle the cable and check it stays connected, if not, new cable.
Still rocking my Xiaomi Mi 10T after 3 years. Replaced main cam due to dead pixel from lasers shows in pubs. Replaced battery and I'm getting 5-6 hrs of screen on-time again. No more Xiaomi updates/support, but who cares, right?

The longest devices I used were; my Infinix Hot 6 which lasted from Monday 12th of November 2018 till Wednesday 5th of May 2021 My Samsung Galaxy A32 which lasted from 5th of May 2021 till 26th of June 2024. They both served me well and I had to let go of them because of battery issues, the batteries of both phones got weak over time. They served me well though
Stop giving your money to these corporations who treat you like sheep. Instead, go old-school. A phone call of 'I love you' has the same meaning irrespective of the phone you use. And the same goes for cars.
Also don't forget to never buy from corporations that treat their customers worse than others - like apple or samsung (giving different processors for the same price and overpricing like apple)
Buy a low mid to mid tier Samsung A3x /A5x series. Get security patches up to 5 years and OS update up to 4 times.. and based on my experience with phones that only get support for their 1st two years last time. You can use it for another additional 3 years even without the security patches.. just don't install anything dubious.

My purpose is simple main important thing is for Personal and work communications other than that my phone is still giving decent performance and battery life. So, flagships are overkill for my use. My dad still uses s9+, but 15 days ago battery is really declining and cant do half a day out of nowhere, while back in december 2021 I had to upgrade from a very old LG, got a Redmi Note 7 for 70 euros used and it is great to this day, while last year in july I got a Redmi Note 10 Pro brand new but I did not feel the same energy.
the note 10 pro is a much more powerful phone and consumes more power,i bought used samsung a11 for £110 in 2022 and even though its 2024 the phones battery is really good and performs better than my new samsung a25 which i bouught 2 weeks ago. Also big phone companies like apple purposely ruin the battery of older phones to make newer phones look better,i think this is what xiaomi did to their newer phones

Battery problems and hardware issues can generally be fixed, keeping you with your phone and keeping it from becoming ewaste. Try that path first if you can
Yep. True you are. I bought my huawei p30 pro in 2019 and still rockin', very fast and no lag at all. No need to upgrade to huawei pura series. But I bought pink iphone 15 to compare with my p30 pro. Both are still rockin' in my opinion.
The actual "new" and "old" definitions have changed really. I was using S8+ until previous month shifted to S23 was happy with my previous device but it was really broken way torn out(yah my handling of device sucks , it fell from my pocket 2-3 times while riding bike) and was lagging from the past year maybe cause I was seeing others new devices. The S23 is a Beast🔥
Charging from 20 to 80% makes my battery drain more but when I charge from 20 to 100 I get the best out of it. Also charging from 1 to 100 when the phone is of strengthen your battery life but you should do it once in 2 weeks

It is made by the system. Just look at samsung phone for example. The phone screen is made with Amoled screen that will get problem after 1-2 years. You are lucky to not get problem more than that. Software update make the phone slower just like all mobile phone manufacturers. On top of that, they remove so many features just to make people buy new phone and other accessories. No audio jack, no sd card slot, battery can't be replace. Soon maybe battery charging use wireless instead of wired one. The company is the one to be blame off. The greeds make them cut the costs and elites gain high profit. The way raw materials harvested are not ethical and workers paid lower. That is quite telling. Midrange or flagship. What is the difference? Just fancy camera, new feature, fancy costume. But at the end, the build quality will make phone not last more than 3-4 years. Consumerism cause by capitalist. Don't blame the consumers. They are get manipulated by the company.
Hello good evening. The phone I'm currently using is Tecno pop 7. I've used this phone for almost a year now. Actually, the phone is good, performs mediumly and meets my needs. Though it has slow internet speed and it hangs sometimes. Storage 64gb rom, 2gb ram(expandable). Camera isn't really good, battery isn't strong, lasts for 12-18hrs with the way I manage the battery. Ordinarily, the phone is okay but if I really want a good device I can always rely on, that is strong and capable, then I will want to buy a new phone. For now I'm okay after all the phone is a year old. I just searched on a new phone (Infinix GT 20 pro) that just came out and I want to buy it. But after listening to what you've said, I'll just stick with my device. When it gets older, I'll then change it. Thank you for this video ❤
Still rocking my Poco F3 since 2021. Recently cracked the back glass so I put a case. I still get decent battery life. I plan on keeping until the end of next year at least since I flashed a custom rom (android 14 unavailable on stock rom).

I am a flagship user, i always keep a flagship for 5 year and upgrade exactly on the conditions your highlighted. I recently changed from Huawei p30 pro tht i had from 2019, it was fine except the screen had 1 crack and was expensive to fix but i was just fine but i feared of loosing my information in it. But it still works like charm, then moved to Honor Magic 6 pro. I was Sony Xperia flagship type before that.

still rocking a 2nd hand 11 Pro Max. I honestly don't see any need to change it unless it actually breaks. I have a Realme backup phone and even that thing works well enough for daily use. most mid range phones these days are really more than enough for basic usage.

I bought RedMagic 3 in 2019. Android 9 but this phone still rocks! Using it a s a second phone, performance is better than my Google Pixel 8 Pro, lol. The battery life is amazing, using every day. No NFC, but for regular browsing/ gaming is perfect 😊
I used my Note 10 Plus for 4 years before upgrading 5 months ago to the S23 Ultra. I also still have a4 year old iPhone 11 Pro Max that I intend to use until the iPhone 17 Pro Max comes out. Cessation of security patches is more relevant to my Samsung phones since I tend to use them for my finances.
As someone who never breaks a phone hardware wise, I upgrade after the security updates and support ended, so maybe around every five years. So by the time I needed to upgrade I'm pretty sure that I already saved enough for a new one.
I'm still using my Xiaomi Mi 9t bought in 2020. The battery life is still good. And also since I don't take a lot of pictures, upgrading now would just be pointless and wasteful. My main concern about this phone is the software/security updates. the last update of any kind was back in 2021. but i feel being vigilant matters more.
I'm one of those crazy people who rocks both iPhone and Pixel. Being the person everyone comes to for tech help i need to stay in both systems. That said I'm not jumping to the latest and barely greatest. Currently have an Xr I purchased in 2020 then I traded my Pixel 3XL for a Pixel 7. Thankfully I didn't pay anywhere near MSRP on either of them. Both are working fine except for a future battery replacement on the Xr. Otherwise there's not much difference from this and the newest shiny from either company. I'll be good with both of these for at least the next few years.

I got a Samsung S21 weeks ago, I have the latest One UI with the circle to search feature, and will still get android 15, battery life is still decent, and it's performance blows out all these A series including the A55, no cap, Its slimmer bezels and more vibrant screen is a sweet spot. Old flagships are better than these new midrange phones and there's absolutely no need to upgrade.

I always buy according to price. $225 is now my upper limit. For $225 I can get a device with a few scratches in perfect working order AND still getting updates. I avoid Apple products. I always use a case. The most important feature is the camera. So I usually get Pixel phones.
Used the infinix hot 4 lite for 4 years till it just did not come on anymore. I used the nokia 2.3 for 4 years plus and just sold it to someone last month. Change the battery just once. I got the samsung galaxy a23 just over 2 years ago and i plan to do 5 years. Never given me any issues and games smoothly at medium settings for me. Great device.

I've been using the Redmi note 10 pro max since April 2021 when it launched. It was all good at the beginning, but currently the major issue is overheating and battery degrading. But as for performance its still very ok.
I personally ONLY get new phones if/when the screen cracks or if I lose it... I'm admittedly horrible with phones... I used to fall asleep on the bus alot and wake up in a panic when the bus security Aggressively wakes me up and I just rush off the bus not looking to see if I forgot anything... Usually it's my phone... Which at the time last year was some kind of expensive foldable.... Terrible financially.
I'm still using Samsung M30 baught just after it's launch. its been 5 years now. 😅😅😅 Camera freezes suddenly, slow UI network issues but single restart helps to revive the phone for few months ahead 😅😅😅
I have upgraded my Galaxy a21s to Redmi note 12 pro 4g in 2023.I had it for 2.5 years.The speed wasn't really far behind they were same and sometimes my old Galaxy a21s was faster than my new one.Keeping your phone for 4-5 years is well money spent.
The oldest mobile I've ever owned would be ny current OnePlus 7t which is now about 4.5 years old. This phone is just as fast and buttery smooth as the very first day i got it with the only caveat being its decrementing battery life.
I only change my phone every two years to save me headache on battery or other hardware issue and even that, I only stick with midrange phones, the ones I could easily factory reset & sell without headache.
It’s almost as if they rush it and fix the problem with software updates.

Only upgrade when the security updates have stopped. XM and Poco phones have a page where they inform when the updates become EOL.
I have realme5 pro bought back in 2019, and still the phone works flawlessly.
I just upgraded my sisters iphone 8 to xs and it was just because of the updates and my family had the xs just hanging around

Couldn't agree more. I just received the Galaxy AI update on my Z Fold 4. Again justifying my decision to not waste money on the Fold 5. Heck it even looks like the Fold 5. Unless you're like us reviewers cursed with the need to buy every new device, your phones can really last you at least 3 years.
I used my Galaxy Note 10 Plus for 3 years, and by the time I was letting go of it, I was satisfied by how much it served me. Still could've gone another year if I didn't like the S22 Ultra.

My Logic
1. Sacrifice and buy a good midranger with fairly sized battery (e.g., 5000mAh) and good processor (e.g., Antutu 500,000+) and a camera that churns out some decent photos.
2. Don't update the OS. Just be contented with what it came with. No update will ever beat the performance of the stock version IMO.
3. Install only apps you need. Be conservative and avoid installing every app you encounter or hear about.
4. Master your device, let it not master you. Use it when needed. Don't drink up your productive time on your smartphone. If you have a computer, use it for more tasks that need more processing power than your smartphone can give.
5. Charge between 20% and 80%. Avoid cycling the battery from full to empty every time. Be conservative.
6. Always back up your data on an external hard drive or the cloud. Avoid filling up your smartphone with content you don't need. It will slow down.
7. Enjoy the damn thing for about five years and rinse and repeat.

I would disagree with the 2nd point. Although Nothing might be an exception my NP1 is performing much better than it was 2 years ago. I just replaced the battery and will use it for a couple more years and will decide to either replace the battery or replace the phone. I have NFC for tap and pay on this phone and every other feature is already available so nothing can make me upgrade except just feeling like I want to

@@oscarmini Honestly I just recently bought the Galaxy S21 5G (Snapdragon 888) and it is an absolute monster, Call of Duty at highest graphics settings @ 60fps is child's play, It even supports medium graphics at 120fps on this device, battery life is a bit of a problem though so I would love to get the S21 plus next month so my life will be complete 😂😂. I love gadgets more than human beings

Mean while entry lvl to midrangers had either a good software or a good hardware there's little to no in between. Software support are mid at best too (only samsung has good software support for midrangers so far)

I had a Samsung Galaxy J5 Prime that lasted me 9-10 years... then i had the Galaxy A20s that lasted 5 years.. currently own the Galaxy A34 i recently got in February and i love this phone. No problems and i plan on keeping it for years to come. The only 2 brands i ever owned in all my life was Samsung and Nokia.. all from Nokia 1100 and the Samsung J700i. So im good for a couple years to come

Yeah, i totally agree with you. I used my phone for 3 years (tecno pova) and it still works fine after i changed the down board last week. Since it has a bigger battery than my current phone i use it for my podcasts, to read novels etc. My new phone is for calls 😊

Normally People only upgrade once every 4-5 year. Upgrading every year is not worth it as increasement is very minimal.
The only phone you should purchase is one that's regularly receiving software and security updates.

I agree with you. I ever used a phone for 5years, Infinix specifically, and truly when it starts given me battery issues and camera malfunction then I changed it but before that, it was always enough.
If you buy flagship phone on release you're good with it for at least 3 years, in many cases 5 years or more if you're still getting updates.

Im still using my Huawei P30 which I bought in 2019 for 440 EUR.
It has not seen an Update since 2021 and still runs android 10. The battery still gets me through a whole day easily, which is the most impressive thing about this phone.
Ive got it for 5 years now and the battery is still good. Battery life decreased though because when I got the phone it lasted 2 days.
In terms of value for price its the best phone I ever had and as long as all my apps work and the battery does not fail I'll keep it.

Yeah....I'm still using my Samsung Galaxy S9+, a 6 year old flagship but I had it for 5 years. What does that mean? Not only was it more affordable to get at the time the Galaxy S10 series was new, the hardware upgrades and features were minimum. Also, every time a new model is out, not only is it too expensive, there's gonna be bugs. So when my model phone at the time turned one year old, any glitches it had were solved with software updates and it performed better than it did as well as how it holds up compared to its successor.
While my phone does not get upgrades anymore, it still works well. I have no intention to upgrade anytime soon. I will keep using my Galaxy S9+ until it cannot perform as a phone anymore.
Still rocking my I phone 14 pro max I got when it first launched. Even though my battery health is at 81 percent, that part is disappointing, it’s still performing like a champ!
I bought the pixel 7a a week after launch to use as my daily driver to replace my Samsung Note 8. The note is still in use though, at home for the dex connectivity to my TV. And it still lasted a day & a half on battery. I wanted a slightly smaller phone though & I didn't see the need for a flagship anymore either.
Hopefully, in a few years' time, in my case, probably 5+, foldables will be cheaper & screen tech will have advanced, as they are an interest.....
I honestly kinda disagree with some of these. Firstly, my phone is a samsung s21 fe, and I will definitely need to upgrade when the s25 lineup comes out. Because the performance isn't good enough. It runs very smoothly, but lags in games. And I game a lot on my phone, playing demanding games like genshin impact. I need that performance upgrade, purely for better gaming experience.
Also everyone is saying that it's a bad idea to game while charging... it is NOT. I was doings that ever since this phone came out and I bought it in 2021, and my battery health is still 94%.
If you need better performance, connect that charger. New samsung phones have pass through charging - the power from the charger will go directly to the cpu, increasing the performance.
And for some people like me, we definitely need to upgrade often because the gaming performance becomes inconsistent
With performance as it relates to use case ( which hardly changes, if at all ) you soon hit diminishing returns. Shouldn't surprise anyone that profit margins are higher on flagships, because thats where they can rip you off without anyone batting an eye. Even more so after they removed chargers from retail boxes

Another tip.
Clean the USBC port.
Cut a piece of plastic from an old water bottle or similar.
Fold in half and cut to a point.
Use it to run around the inside of the port.
Won't cause damage but getting rid of the fluff and dirt will prevent arcing on the pins.
(You can use a metal pick, but I think plastic is better if you don't know what you're doing)

If you have a spare phone, you can take a picture of the inside on high magnification to see any debris still in there.
When it's clean, wiggle the cable and check it stays connected, if not, new cable.
Still rocking my Xiaomi Mi 10T after 3 years. Replaced main cam due to dead pixel from lasers shows in pubs. Replaced battery and I'm getting 5-6 hrs of screen on-time again. No more Xiaomi updates/support, but who cares, right?

The longest devices I used were; my Infinix Hot 6 which lasted from Monday 12th of November 2018 till Wednesday 5th of May 2021

Buy a low mid to mid tier Samsung A3x /A5x series. Get security patches up to 5 years and OS update up to 4 times..
and based on my experience with phones that only get support for their 1st two years last time. You can use it for another additional 3 years even without the security patches.. just don't install anything dubious.

My dad still uses s9+, but 15 days ago battery is really declining and cant do half a day out of nowhere, while back in december 2021 I had to upgrade from a very old LG, got a Redmi Note 7 for 70 euros used and it is great to this day, while last year in july I got a Redmi Note 10 Pro brand new but I did not feel the same energy.
the note 10 pro is a much more powerful phone and consumes more power,i bought used samsung a11 for £110 in 2022 and even though its 2024 the phones battery is really good and performs better than my new samsung a25 which i bouught 2 weeks ago. Also big phone companies like apple purposely ruin the battery of older phones to make newer phones look better,i think this is what xiaomi did to their newer phones

I was using S8+ until previous month shifted to S23 was happy with my previous device but it was really broken way torn out(yah my handling of device sucks , it fell from my pocket 2-3 times while riding bike) and was lagging from the past year maybe cause I was seeing others new devices. Charging from 20 to 80% makes my battery drain more but when I charge from 20 to 100 I get the best out of it. Also charging from 1 to 100 when the phone is of strengthen your battery life but you should do it once in 2 weeks

It is made by the system. Just look at samsung phone for example. The phone screen is made with Amoled screen that will get problem after 1-2 years. You are lucky to not get problem more than that. Software update make the phone slower just like all mobile phone manufacturers. On top of that, they remove so many features just to make people buy new phone and other accessories. No audio jack, no sd card slot, battery can't be replace. Soon maybe battery charging use wireless instead of wired one. The company is the one to be blame off. The greeds make them cut the costs and elites gain high profit. The way raw materials harvested are not ethical and workers paid lower. That is quite telling.

The phone I'm currently using is Tecno pop 7. I've used this phone for almost a year now. Actually, the phone is good, performs mediumly and meets my needs. Though it has slow internet speed and it hangs sometimes. Storage 64gb rom, 2gb ram(expandable). Camera isn't really good, battery isn't strong, lasts for 12-18hrs with the way I manage the battery. Ordinarily, the phone is okay but if I really want a good device I can always rely on, that is strong and capable, then I will want to buy a new phone. For now I'm okay after all the phone is a year old.
I just searched on a new phone (Infinix GT 20 pro) that just came out and I want to buy it. But after listening to what you've said, I'll just stick with my device. When it gets older, I'll then change it.

Still rocking my Poco F3 since 2021. Recently cracked the back glass so I put a case. I still get decent battery life. I plan on keeping until the end of next year at least since I flashed a custom rom (android 14 unavailable on stock rom).

I am a flagship user, i always keep a flagship for 5 year and upgrade exactly on the conditions your highlighted. I recently changed from Huawei p30 pro tht i had from 2019, it was fine except the screen had 1 crack and was expensive to fix but i was just fine but i feared of loosing my information in it. But it still works like charm, then moved to Honor Magic 6 pro.

still rocking a 2nd hand 11 Pro Max. I honestly don't see any need to change it unless it actually breaks. I have a Realme backup phone and even that thing works well enough for daily use. most mid range phones these days are really more than enough for basic usage.

I bought RedMagic 3 in 2019. Android 9 but this phone still rocks! Using it a s a second phone, performance is better than my Google Pixel 8 Pro, lol. The battery life is amazing, using every day. No NFC, but for regular browsing/ gaming is perfect 😊
I used my Note 10 Plus for 4 years before upgrading 5 months ago to the S23 Ultra. I also still have a4 year old iPhone 11 Pro Max that I intend to use until the iPhone 17 Pro Max comes out. Cessation of security patches is more relevant to my Samsung phones since I tend to use them for my finances.

As someone who never breaks a phone hardware wise, I upgrade after the security updates and support ended, so maybe around every five years. So by the time I needed to upgrade I'm pretty sure that I already saved enough for a new one.
I'm still using my Xiaomi Mi 9t bought in 2020. The battery life is still good. And also since I don't take a lot of pictures, upgrading now would just be pointless and wasteful. My main concern about this phone is the software/security updates. the last update of any kind was back in 2021. but i feel being vigilant matters more.
I'm one of those crazy people who rocks both iPhone and Pixel. Being the person everyone comes to for tech help i need to stay in both systems. That said I'm not jumping to the latest and barely greatest.
Currently have an Xr I purchased in 2020 then I traded my Pixel 3XL for a Pixel 7. Thankfully I didn't pay anywhere near MSRP on either of them. Both are working fine except for a future battery replacement on the Xr. Otherwise there's not much difference from this and the newest shiny from either company. I'll be good with both of these for at least the next few years.

I got a Samsung S21 weeks ago, I have the latest One UI with the circle to search feature, and will still get android 15, battery life is still decent, and it's performance blows out all these A series including the A55, no cap, Its slimmer bezels and more vibrant screen is a sweet spot. Old flagships are better than these new midrange phones and there's absolutely no need to upgrade.

I always buy according to price. $225 is now my upper limit. For $225 I can get a device with a few scratches in perfect working order AND still getting updates. I avoid Apple products. I always use a case. The most important feature is the camera. So I usually get Pixel phones.
Used the infinix hot 4 lite for 4 years till it just did not come on anymore. I used the nokia 2.3 for 4 years plus and just sold it to someone last month. Change the battery just once. I got the samsung galaxy a23 just over 2 years ago and i plan to do 5 years. Never given me any issues and games smoothly at medium settings for me. Great device.

I've been using the Redmi note 10 pro max since April 2021 when it launched. It was all good at the beginning, but currently the major issue is overheating and battery degrading. But as for performance its still very ok.
I personally ONLY get new phones if/when the screen cracks or if I lose it... I'm admittedly horrible with phones... I used to fall asleep on the bus alot and wake up in a panic when the bus security Aggressively wakes me up and I just rush off the bus not looking to see if I forgot anything... Usually it's my phone... Which at the time last year was some kind of expensive foldable.... Terrible financially.

The oldest mobile I've ever owned would be ny current OnePlus 7t which is now about 4.5 years old. This phone is just as fast and buttery smooth as the very first day i got it with the only caveat being its decrementing battery life.
Example S23U is better than S24/S24+
I only change my phone every two years to save me headache on battery or other hardware issue and even that, I only stick with midrange phones, the ones I could easily factory reset & sell without headache.
