I've been looking into Folksy lately. The monthly payment is going up to I think £7.50 towards the end of June, but apparently the paid version means you can copy across your Etsy listings, and you get to have more pics, also invites to free workshops. They also seem quite strict on what you can sell, and seems to be monitored by real crafters. Glad you're also looking into this, so will follow with interest :)
I made the decision to stop selling on Etsy a month or two ago (I sell crochet pattern PDFs). I decided the way I wanted to do this was to stop all of my listings from renewing if they hadn't sold for the 4 months I'd already paid for, but all of the patterns have hundreds in the "how many do I have?" spot, so they will auto-renew with a sale. The next day (after removing the auto renew), I had a burst of sales, and was getting one every day or two after that for about a month. I thought maybe Etsy was being sneaky and trying to get me back by showing my items more, but it turns out I had just had a couple of patterns go "viral" on Pinterest that linked to my Etsy shop. I'm still pulling away from selling on Etsy; they just aren't getting any "passive income" from me with the auto renew. I'll be keeping a presence on Etsy to help any former customers if needed, and to do periodic searches for copyright infringement.
I’ve just re-activated my Folksy shop and uploaded a couple of items from my Etsy shop so I’ll see how I get in. One thing I’m not keen on is that we can only upload one photo at a time (as far as I can work out) but it’s very easy to use. Etsy has been very quite recently and amazingly, like you, just as I was working on Folksy, my phone went “cha-ching” 😂… Can’t wait to see how you get on 😊
Hi Pam is the not being able to choose which countries you don’t want to ship to a non U.S. thing? I am able to toggle off Germany and other countries I don’t wish to ship to but I am in the U.S.
@@PamDuthie I did use them a few years ago, they'd only just launched. So while the fees were miniscule I wasn't selling anything, so went back to ebay after a few months. It should be much better now, trouble is I've got 500+ business cards I put in my ebay sales with my Etsy link on them, lol
Just checked this out, never heard of them before. It took me ca. 2 minutes of browsing to get to the first drop shipper that sells everything from suitcase sets to bedlinen. And as far as I can see there's not even a report button, so that doesn't make me very hopeful that it's any better than Etsy (but with less customers).
But then you have to arrange for recycling of your packaging which in some countries was over $100 when I barely have 1 sale a year there it just wasn’t worth it for me I just don’t ship to those countries any longer.
@@ssfoster95 My orders always get through to German buyers, you just pay the license & the fee covers the recycling costs. You don't have to arrange recycling or anything.
Yup, I totally say the made up word wrong - I explain why in this video. And once you have been saying something one way for over a decade it is hard to say it any other way ruclips.net/video/QH-xaQ6cqeI/видео.html

That sounds like a good idea
1st time viewer here👋💕. I absolutely HATE Etsy. They can burn down below the ground. Im excited to run across your review/channel.
Great to meet you here, but sad that so many people are unhappy with Etsy. I wish they would do better
@PamDuthie yeah, I was a newcomer to Etsy last year, and they devastated me so badly. I never tried to open a new shop.

Can you use Folksy in the US? I am curious because I live in New Jersey, USA.
Talking about Folksy postage... Yesterday I noticed on Paypal that there is an option to add a tracking number when someone pays to you from Folksy.
Oh great news I will check that out

Yeah sadly the shipping options for non US accounts is pretty limited
Nu-Monday is another UK alternative, with a single lifetime subscription and no fees,
Yes I mean to look into them too

The Lucid ID thing takes about an hour. I registered with activate by reclay. It cost about £6 for the year.
