True Story - Many years ago, when they were doing the press junket for the first Avengers film,
someone asked Jackson how he prepared for pretending to be Nick Fury.
He said "I watched David Hasselhoff, and decided to do the exact opposite."
Now I want to see Jackson and Hoff doing dueling Furies.
Having grown up reading the Sgt. Fury war comics in the seventies, yep, I'm old, I like the fact the original character lost his eye fighting Nazis rather than to an alien pussy cat
Actually met Neil Roberts who played Pierce at a doctor who convention in Belfast. It was pretty funny as he said "Did anyone see the Nick Fury movie I was in? Wasn't it shit?"
He also had some amusing stories from his time on Charmed.
"That poor soul... Oh well"
Thanks Linkara.
This might be my favorite Lupa review
Gosh I vaguely remember seeing this at the video store when I was a kid. This is like one of those movies no one talks about anymore.
Sort of like computer-related YTer never talk about Windows Vista...
lupa is so adorable in that secret agent outfit. she looks perfect for agents of shield
OMG I'm so glad you brought this out of the archive because I've never seen it before and I should probably watch this movie for a good laugh. Especially me being a huge Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D 🤣
I remember watching this on tv as a kid in the 90s...but I don't actually remember any of it.
Nick Fury; Director of Dad Jokes!
This was the last POS Comic Book movie to come out before Blade was released and they started to finally make good CB movies
" _Oh Nick, I thought You were dead!_ "
" _I was, but I got better_ " 😂😂😂
Oh my god. I forgot David Hasslehoff was Nick Fury.
Now I'm picturing Samuel L Jackson as Mitch Von Malibu-"It's MY save, motherfucker! MY save! Is that CLEAR?!"
Now I'm picturing Hoff in other Sam Jackson roles. "What isn't a planet I've ever heard of! Do they speak English on What?"
"Stay out of this Hobie! He's a Sith Lord!"
I would watch Agents of SHIELD if Hasslehoff was in it
David S. Goyer wrote this movie the same year that Blade came out! XD
Haha thanks! I never knew this movie existed and it looks like a good movie to watch while drinking with friends XD
All of English literature took a kick to the groin when Hasselhoff quoted John Keats for absolutely no reason.
14:45 "I always heard living well was the best revenge."
That absurdly obvious plot point was worth it for that line.
When I was a kid, I listened to mostly oldies (50s-60s, almost no 70s and nothing at all beyond that) and my friend who lived next door would come over and we would sing along with the radio (99.9 KOLA + 101.1 KRTH (K-Earth)), and every time she heard Secret Agent Man by Johnny Rivers, she always sang :
Secret! ASIAN man!
Secret! ASIAN man!
i looove that >< I want that. ill start wearing an eyepatch and absolutely never will I acknowledge it. not until my deathbed.
*Clicks thinking this is a new review.
HOLY SHIT! It is Kid Lupa!
It is fun to look back at these and see how a lot of these personalities have grown and changed there style with the times.
Has Monster High been re-uploaded yet? That was my favorite OLP for the sheer fact that I had never seen her straight LOATHE and DESPISE a movie as much as that.
It's in the OLP playlist, along with every other ep. :)
I wore a similar Nick Fury cosplay when I went to the advance screening of Captain America: The Winter Soldier.
I love the line "...What eye patch?" I'm sure it's based on Linkara's "...What hat?" Also, it's seems like the solo Nick Fury Marvel Cinematic Universe movie is not gonna happen anymore.
2:33- David Goyer? NOOOOO. At least you later did the Blade Trilogy, the Dark Knight Trilogy, and a few films in the DC Extended Universe.
Madam Hydra is trying to out-camp Mr. Freeze from Batman & Robin.
13:16- Ugh. That is not as catchy as "You need to keep both eyes open."
At least Marvel eventually made a much better Agents of SHIELD TV series 15 years later.
I had high hopes for this film when it was out originally, now I hope that Marvel can do a Sgt Fury film on Netflix or something since the 616 Fury is the new Watcher, I forget the real name they gave him.
Long story short, I miss the original Nick Fury, he had a great history.
I liked this as a kid
but weird as an adult my memory had Kurt Russel not hasselhof
Zwordsman: It probably got mixed in your memory with Escape From New York/L.A.
Well. That eye patch joke is never going to come back, I'm sure.... :)
Written by David Goyer! The same year he did Blade and Dark City. Later to do The Dark Knight Trilogy, Ghost Rider: Spirit Of Vengeance, Man Of Steel and BVS.
It is nice to be able to go back and watch some of these earlier episodes. If you were a Marvel Comics fan in the 1970s - 1999, the Marvel Cinematic universe was mostly TV Movies, One Shot TV Pilots and Direct To Video Films. Of the stuff to come out during the 1990s, Agent Of Shield is better then; Death Of The Incredible Hulk (1990), The Power Pack TV Pilot, the Doctor Strange TV Pilot (which got released as something else) and the three unfinished Incredible Hulk TV Movies (which were setup to costar Iron Man, She Hulk and Spider-Man).
His Fury-routine reminds me of Supernatural's Dean Winchester. Eeeeeerie.
This is awesome! xD
well obviously he'll need eye patch when he uses the eye explosive
2:34 - DAMN!!! It was written by David Goyer himself! ! ! ! :-O :-O :-O
This movie actually doesn't look as bad as I've heard it is..........but maybe I just need to actually watch it
did he just say "secret asian man?" in that song ;)
I kept thinking of this review for some reason, heh
Totally amazing!!
YESSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The OL character is a lot of fun, well was a lot of fun.
I know Movie Nights is you current format and the reviews have more sincerity to them, but I would lie if I would say I don't miss the OLP format.
“...Private What Am I Doing Wearing Camoflauge I’m in A Military Base...”, yeah, you haven’t been to many military bases, have you?
"Encore Action" Movie channel so bad it was free. Way ahead of their time.
seriously, Goyer wrote this? can he, like, not?
Acting was shit but The Hoff looks just like Fury.
Ray Ruckus No he doesn't, just look at the art they've shown.
Fake Emotion I disagree. I think he totally looks the part.
Hoff was always who I pictured as Fury.
The Parallel Nexus Wish I had 3 thumbs to show how much I agree with you.
I've read, but it's always been "second hand" so take it with a grain of salt, that Hasselhoff vehemently refused to allow the S.H.I.E.L.D.-era Nick Fury gray streaks through his hair. Considering he was 45 at the time and on a show with a bunch of 20-somethings, well... Ego gets the best of all of us.
There sure is a lot of grunting going on here.
Did you have to record this from the Encore channel to get footage? You've come a long way since 2011.
Wait, "written by David Goyer"?!
WHY DIDN'T THEY LISTEN?!
So namely people have no standards
At the end of Guardians fo the Galaxy 1 they had funny post credit scene making fun of bad Marvel movie. Hoff should appear as version of Nick Fury at the end of second.
God yes!!!!
Well Hasslehoff did show up in 2, although not as Fury.
What?!
You don't like Raccoon eyes McKissy-lips?
She was the only thing that made this film watchable!
Good old Gary Chalk.
I could not stop laughing
Isn't that director also Colonel Maybourne from Stargate? And the obnoxious general from Sanctuary? He seems to have made a career of playing villainous officials.
Wow you look cool as shit with the eyepatch !
Supreme Headquarters International Espionage Law (enforcement) Division? What? Shouldn't it be the Strategic Homeland Intervention Enforcment and Legistics Divisoin?
If I may steal Linkara's hat for a moment, Supreme Headquarters International Espionage and Law-enforcement Division is the original meaning of the acronym in the comics from the 60's-80's. In 1991, it was changed to Strategic Hazard Intervention Espionage Logistics Directorate. The Strategic Homeland etc, etc is a post-Dubya coinage for the 21st century film adaptations.
FuryHoff!? How have I never seen this movie!!!
"written by David Goyer" Never a good sign.
Once upon a time he wrote Blade and Dark City...so yes 90% of the time it's not good lol
God this was as bad as that 90's Fox made for tv movie of Gen-X
Remember that the guy who wrote this did Blade: Trinity and Batman v Superman (the heroes stopped fighting each other because their mother share the same name)
That explains so much
So you're saying that his career went _down_ from here. I mean, financially up, but otherwise...
"Fury is in an abandoned mineshaft in Canada searching for..." I'm gonna headcanon that he was searching for asbestos because that's the dumbest thing he could feasibly be mining for.
Agent love interest needed to tone it back on the lip liner... Her lips look like they have lips.
It has been 5+ years, you should do a re-review of this one, knowing what you know now of Mitch Von Malibu's career
Steampunk Lupa... I can dig it!
I **like** the Nick Fury movie, in the same way I enjoy a lot of ham on cheese movies and TV shows. But if there's one place this review falls short, it's that Hasselhoff actually did a cover of Secret Agent Man, and it wasn't used during the opening.
Oh god.... Goyer wrote this. It had no chance. Blade was a fluke. Everything else however.........
What about Batman Begins?
+Gamestation3 He only co-wrote it.
WHY DIDN'T THEY LISTEN!
@@Tareltonlives blade 2 it was even better then blade 1
So Andrea is Sin, the Red Skull's daughter?
I swear the opening song is like "Secret Asian Man, Secret Asian Man ..."
Now I get the whole why are you wearing an eyepatch thing from his 500th episode
Somehow cyclops Lupa is cuter than regular Lupa.
3:58 - 4:04 Wait, you mean this *ISN'T* as Sega CD game?
Look up the real world story of Leo Major, the original super soldier with eye patch.
Too bad they couldn't bring Hasselhoff back into the Marvel Cinematic universe
to do what? be Sam Jacksons biological father? or maybe acknowledge the TV movie as another universe?
The Boob Tube They should cast him as Thanos
In the words of J. Jonah Jameson in Spider-Man 2, "...LOL! ...You serious?"
Hasselhoff will be The Living Tribunal
LMFAO! Now that is the best reply. Can you imagine a drunk ass three faced cosmic deity trying to eat a hamburger
I don't know, Allison; this movie does look pretty bad, but still much more enjoyable than anything from the Avengers series and their related movies. ^^'
I saw it and enjoyed it. I guess I'm easy to please.
💜
It does not always work when they change the image of a person like in Death Note with L that kills the movie. But Nick Fury as Samuel L. Jackson is one case where the chage is so perfect making it better. L was a creepy albino boy switched with a person 100% not creepy.
2011 what are you here 15
Thanks to Captain Marvel I know how Nick Fury lost his eye
f he has a fever of ahundred and three he must be hot blooded!
8:30
Yet this movie is still better than most of AGENTS OF SHIELD.
I would actually watch the show if Hassehoff was in it
Oh, so that is a german accent?? I have heard some bad trials on this, mostly overacted (and with added stand to atthention gesture if possible), but this is sure not sounding anythinng german at all. Hmm, maybe its the german accent of a german accent , only spoken in some rare mountain valley village, those can sound quite irritating , even for a german speaking person.
Am I missing something? I don't get the buttmonkey reference.
If I understand correctly, it's a term used for a character that's "designated" to be mocked or ridiculed by other characters.
tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/ButtMonkey
Wow, I never saw this, thankfully😂😂😂
Omg it looks awful 😬😬😬😬😬
But at least you look quite fetching in an eyepatch😋
Secret... Asian Man.... Secret.... Asian Man... *ahem*... sorry
So that means The Hoff played a racial swapped Nick Fury for a TV movie in the MCU.
Marc Baker Actually Samual L Jackson did the whole thing you said, because his version is based off of the version from the Ultimate universe, the Hoff wasn’t in the MCU.
Agent Fontaine looks horrible. I can't put my thumb on it but she just looks off to me.
2:34 David Goyer wrote this, that speaks volumes! The use of nazis as villains is so PC and so cliched.
Yes, the character of Nick Fury was originally a white guy! Just pure PC to have him played by Samuel Jackson.
Chad Castagana Ultimate Nick Fury was a Samual L Jackson look alike.
