The original has a lot of cool processing on it and I can imagine that they didn't brief most of the localization teams and they just sort of winged it. If I listen closely they doubled the voice with a version of the the recording that just has low end frequencies. Kind of like how they did Optimus prime, but here the VA is also using some vocal techniques to make his voice a little raspier. Also it is layered with a detuned version of the same recording making it sound even more double.

I am glad that the french translation got changed for eternal, because "the killer of the dead" is very cheesy. In eternal they changed it to plainly "doom slayer" pronounced with a french accent. So yes it's canonicaly "Le Doom Slayer" in french and that's funny as hell.

I feel like the english version is actually the best. It feels like it has the most bass, and I like how the ends of a sentence is drawn out. The other languages feel like it's an old man telling you a story of years past. Of all of those, I feel like the Japanese VA nails that vibe the best, but still doesn't hold a candle to the English one.

I dont know how in Japanese, Polish and German, but Spanish (both), French, Italian and Portuguese they just literally translated the “Doom Slayer” to “Death Killer”. But in Russian they called him “Fate Executioner, or Doom Executioner (Not sound too good in English, but it sounds very good in Russian, believe me)”. And the thing is, that they did the same name that in Doom Eternal. And in those 4 languages (Spanish, French, Italian, Portuguese) in Doom Eternal sound 1:1 like in English version (Doom Slayer). That’s what differences the Russian translation from others.
Even though the English one is the only one I can understand, I really like the French, Polish, Spanish, and Japanese versions. They all work really well, honestly.
