The waters surrounding the whole of tiny Singapore Island is the Singapore Port Limits. The southern most point of the limit is as far as Raffles Lighthouse which is about 14 kilometers from mainland Singapore. Beyond that is International waters. Singapore is the 2nd busiest port in the world. As such, we will see many ships harbouring along the coast, even at the beaches at East Coast Park.
20:15 That's actually just a demarcation for a zone where vessels may not enter. It's also to let swimmers know not to cross that boundary because right after the boundary is a channel that small vessels may travel up to 16 knots. The nearest international waters boundary are around 4 nautical miles directly south of the beach you were at, which is way beyond all the large vessels.

That's the western anchorage.. check out the maritime port authority (MPA) for more info. www.mpa.gov.sg/port-marine-ops/operations/port-infrastructure/anchorages
The blue floating barrels are just markers beyond which swimmers should not venture. The waters beyond are still Singapore waters until Raffles Lighthouse farther South. St John's, Lazarus, Kusu etc are south of that blue line. The ships anchored are waiting for their turn to offload or pick up cargo from the terminals.
Hi Ken. Loved your Singapore/Sentosa video. I went to Sentosa with my daughter in 2010 and is was nowhere near how it is these days. There was hardly anything there - just a restaurant which was fabulous and the beaches. I don't think there was the bridge either - we had to get the train across. The fish and chips you had looked amazing! That coating on the fish looked awesome. Not like most places here in Australia where they put batter on the fish for fish and chips. I would have loved to eat that fish and chips that you had, especially with the tartare sauce too. Love that. Terrific video. Thanks. x
Buy a large haddock. Spineless. First flour, THEN egg and then panco bread crumbs. Fry at 180 degrees. Panco bread crumbs are available in large supermarkets.
Hey, a tip for anyone venturing to sentosa island. So if you’re looking to go to sentosa island however you’d not like to pay a cost for transport to go sentosa, use the boardwoalk to the first station and then you can ride a monorail with no charges. You can also take free shuttle buses in and out of sentosa as well.
Hello Ken. Yes, this is a very common British meal. I have tried it in Asia a couple of times and it was not properly made. What you just had, howevever , looks very well made, like in a good fish and chip shop here. The chips (deep fried potatoes) in the UK should be a bit crispy on the outside but quite soft in the middle. That is how we like them. In fact it is not easy to do, and some fish and chip shops do not do it very well, even here! Good luck to you Ken!
Yes, they use batter (flour and water, sometimes beer)rather than breadcrumbs, but the worst places put it on much too thick, and it is heavy and sticky. The best ones put it on thinly and it is a bit crisp. I like the look of what you had actually, fish not overcooked. I had fish overcooked recently....hard batter on the outside, the fish was dry on the inside, not like yours!
I really enjoyed watching your video and the fish and chips made me drool !!!! I really enjoyed visiting Palawan beach too as the sand was very clean and evening time there is very tranquil and beautiful.❤
I will never go up so high … looking down is super scary. The container vessels are in the anchorage area. They are there for various reasons - refuelling, transit, transferring containers, etc. Transferring of containers will be at PSA wharf, and they have to wait for their turn to dock at PSA (Port of Singapore Authority) wharf. The MPA (Maritime Port Authority) will run the maritime related matters with them while they wait in this anchorage area.
Hi Ken, as Singapore is also a trading n shipping port, the ships you see ankored there are waiting for the allocation to come into port n unload their cargoes n after which they will wait for their appropriate time to come but into port to loaded the out going cargoes again before leaving for other ports, also some are there waiting to be reloading their supplies n top up of fuel for their next voyage. Some ships rest there ,for a few days , to change a new crew n then set sail again
Ken, if you do visit Singapore again, try visiting our rustic Pulau Ubin which is located on the north eastern side of mainland Singapore. You will love it.
Hello ken! Incase you wondering about the ships u seen at sentosa. Singapore is the largest and busiest port for transhipment hub in the world. Anyway enjoy watching all your videos! Keep it up.
Swimming with ships around you and airplanes passing every minute over your head is a unique and rare thing to do in Singapore changi village beach. There are also many visitors here. Also, you don't need to take the tourist bus while in Spore. Just take the local Sgbus and get an upper front seat and enjoy the view of the city. Have an unlimited pass n go anywhere in the island with all public transport except sentosa. When you finish Spore, Batam, Indonesia is only 1 hour away by ferry. Crossing the world's busiest shipping lane the Singapore strait is a must and an epic experience too. Best is to depart from JB terminal as you will cruising thru the Johore strait where Malaysia on ur leftside and Singapore on ur rightside. And the fare is reasonably cheap.
Hi Hi Ken, FYI, Sentosa is not what it look like now back in the 80s. SG did a very good job and making Sentosa a nice holiday destination now. Back then SG "bought" what ever sand & rocks Malaysia & Indonesia willing to sell (legal or i**egally) to reclaim their land to what it is now (Not only in Sentosa but along the coastal & south to a "bigger" country. Sentosa back in 80s is unlike now without the white sand & hard labours support from its neighbouring countries. Have a nice time & enjoy your SG trip!
The float in the sea is a safety barrier for swimmer. The ship is actually park in the sea . It is still in the strait of singapore . Ship has to wait for their slot and permission to berth and unload their goods. Some ship just park there to wait for their assignment
24:50, those ships are not disallowed from entering. Singapore is one of the busiest ports in the world… everything that goes in and out of Asia to Europe and Middle East pass through here. The ships are passing through/taking turns to go in and out of the port. More than 1,000 ships a day pass through.
Try to imagine a "$" sign on every ship in the Singapore harbor. They spend standing charges, docking charges, business charges, maintenance, cleaning & resupply charges, plus their sailors probably have their R&R and lose money at the Casinos. There are, on average, 600+ ships in Singapore's waters every day. Multiply this by the tens of thousands of "$" that each ship generates for the Singapore economy, including indirect expenses such as banking, insurance, warehousing, etc. and you begin to realize that it is the most important lifeline of Singapore. All in, the presence of many ships in the waters are, for Singapore, a lovelier sight than the empty open waters of Phuket, Seychelles, Maldives, etc.
Yes, fish and chips are from the uk.... great to see you in Singapore... I was skydiving at ifly with my son a few weeks ago... Keep up the the great work mate. Andy

Places to visit in Singapore: 1. Universal Studios Singapore - a bit expensive 2. Singapore Zoo / River Safari 3. Gardens by the Bay 4. Jewel 5. Rail corridor (walking trail)
Those you mentioned are tourists spots . One should explore the nooks & corners of this tiny island which I call home . Its safe to walk around even at 3 in the morning.
Brit who has been on Singapore 12 years. I take my kids to the beach quite often when it’s to wet season. It takes maybe 40 minutes on public transport to get there door to beach, and costs maybe 10 bucks. Plenty left over to enjoy a few beers and food. There are some nice beach side bars and beach clubs just a short walk from this beach
The beaches on the smaller islands like Lazarus Island and St John's Island are nicer and more secluded without fish and chips and 7 Elevens. Also, all public beaches in Singapore have free showering facilities and toilets built and maintained by the government.
It has been a while since i last visited Sentosa island.... and yes, been there before... but i kinda miss Fort Siloso, now that you mentioned it.... Still hope you having a blast in Singapore, Ken... Cheers mate.
Many ships are there to resupply and refuel. They anchor off the coast and wait for smaller supply ships and bunker boats to service them. Other ships are waiting for their turn to dock and load/unload at the port terminals
1. Singapore has one of the busiest port in the world as it is along a shipping trade route. 2. Ships there are in Anchorage, in singapore waters, waiting to enter the ports or to refuel / resupply. 3. Singapore is an island, so you can find beaches all along the perimeter of the island. The longest is the east coast park beaches. 4. You can literally walk/cycle to the airport just by following the park connectors along the beach coast line.
I haven't been to Sentosa for quite a long time even before covid. That small chain of little floats at the end are to prevent swimming over and safely purpose. Willkommen in Singapur

Ken, you should definitely go to Jurong East and visit JEM or Westgate.
You can also visit Changi Airport
I’m not surprised you always enjoying what you eat, almost ❤….
Singapore the Best!
It has been a while since i last visited Sentosa island.... and yes, been there before... but i kinda miss Fort Siloso, now that you mentioned it.... Still hope you having a blast in Singapore, Ken... Cheers mate.
Thanks, I do 💪😊
Singapore has many Nature parks too..Visit some.of them.
Fish and chips is very British.Tartar sauce is a traditional condiment.Kudos on confronting your fear of heights & handling the python.

I haven't been to Sentosa for quite a long time even before covid. That small chain of little floats at the end are to prevent swimming over and safely purpose. Willkommen in Singapur
There are more than 1000 vessels in Singapore port at any one time, with a ships moving in and out of the port every two to three minutes.
