Really nice to see Chris for a change! (not that I'm tired of Matt), well done and very informative. (especially since you showed us how to drill every hole - hahaha)
Great tip on using 3M foam tape. I'll use it in the future. Easier than what I do - taping poker chips all aroung the edge of the pickguard to raise it up. Cool video. I also like using your finger as a depth stop!
Excellent! Pickguards can be scary on a table router. Very small and prone to kickback! (Also, RUclips sure is getting aggressive with the ads. I got roughly TEN during this short video. 🤮)
Beautiful work Chris. Always a pleasure to witness your considerable skills in action. Now all you have to do is stow that template, sit back, and wait for all the orders for a Teisco pickguard to roll on in. Easy money.
Templates RULE (as does Pantera)!! I have no idea why watching this is so satisfying! 9:09 .. free handing is fine but I think a French Curves template would come in handy...
Nice. That was great. What a complicated pick guard. Could you go ahead and load it and do all that wiring in your next one? Mkay? Thanks. Totally reminds me of of the awesome tonight shows when Ed McMahon used to take over for Johnny Carson when he was on vacation because Joan Rivers was too drunk. Lol
Was cool seeing Chris do one! Wish I had that much talent and confidence. But seeing as I’d never even modded a guitar before the GGBO 2020, I guess it takes time. I’m working on my first build. Thank you for the inspiration.
Great tutorial, and your work was masterfully done. I had to order a sheet of the pearlescent material a few years back, and I'm kicking myself now because I can't think of who I got it from (so I could relay the info to you); it may come to me when I'm thinking about something else...
Thanks Chris! I was wondering how you were going to do the rectangular holes for the switches... forgot about the beloved pin router. I don’t know if it worked out this way for anyone else but towards the end you said, “Guess what time it is now.” and a commercial came on. Couldn’t have been more funny if you planned it.
Great video!......except for the staggering number of ads, lol. Seems like a pin router is almost a necessity for something like this, I can't imagine a reliable way to cut those switch holes on a table router.
Thank you for the very detailed vid! Your customer will be so happy! Q: Mind my asking what kind of double stick tape are you using (the thinner one, not 3m foamy stuff) ? ...
Hey Chris … great video !!!… quick question about the 45 degree bit, it that a regularly available item or something that you got from Stewmac or the like ???
@@texastoastchris Thanks Chris... I’m definitely going to give this a try. I’m watching the Mar 8 training episode right now. You guys really did a fabulous job of delivering a ton of information in a really digestible format. So many great little tips. !
Great video. Who needs Matt? Yes yell load every once and a while! BTW did you watch out for grain direction with that MDF? (I had someone fall for that line once)
The title is misleading as it read like he was going to fix up a busted Pickguard to be as good as new & nothing about making a new one out of the materials he used... Other than than its a well done how to build a new Pickguard... .....
I've always made pickguards using a Dremel, files, and sandpaper...extremely tedious and NO ONE wants to watch a video of that (especially when you crack it drilling the second to last pot hole and have to start over)! :) Great job, especially with all those weird curves and holes! This week's top quote "...notice the bottle of Perfect Ass..."
Did you macrame the cover for that punch at 9:00? Oh and do you spray Perfect Ass on your safety glasses or go directly the the offending ass in question?
That's para-cord, done by our good friend Nacho a long time ago. Knife handles and prison shanks are his specialty. Never spray perfect ass on your glasses. where would you go from there?
Having watched Chris's templating skills live and in person I can say he is a meticulous craftsman. Great video!
Very cool, you should do more tutorials man. Your voice is well fit for audio.
Thanks, will do!
Just for the record I never said "that seems kinda dumb"
It sounds like something I'd say... but I didn't :)
Likely story!
The record is now preserved.
ah Matt your reputation proceeds you 😂
It really does sound like something you'd say!
Sounds like something someone who said "that seems kinda dumb" would say.
I had to rewind. I heard "model of perfect ass in the background" as Matt was walking by. I did confirm it was "bottle".
Really nice to see Chris for a change! (not that I'm tired of Matt), well done and very informative. (especially since you showed us how to drill every hole - hahaha)

Wore the skip button to a nub
Ublock Origin works very well at blocking ads on the Tube that is You.
U Tube is as good at commercials, as it is at censoring thoughts and ideas it does not like. Eh Comrade!
Beautiful work Chris. Always a pleasure to witness your considerable skills in action. Now all you have to do is stow that template, sit back, and wait for all the orders for a Teisco pickguard to roll on in. Easy money.
Before I figured out some basic routing skills, I made all my body and pickguard shapes directly on the spindle sander. Templates are SO much easier!
Great Work and love your sense of humor!
Great trick with the foam double sided tape. Great video as well. Thanks Chris
Love the voice over format. Good job Chris. Keep it up and Matt will become the other guy!
Matt decided he doesn't want to do videos anymore. Chris will be doing all the edited content from now on.
Enjoy
Some useful tips in there - thanks for taking us on this journey with you !
My pleasure!
Crazy pick guard!! Turned out nice
Far and away, my favorite kind of video. Instructional! Nice work Chris!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Great job , Chris !! As I knew it would be !!
Thanks Chris great lil tutorial Very helpful.& informative It’s gonna save me a lot of pick guard material in future 👍
Great video guys. Love when you go in depth on a certain thing your doing or making. Chris did a great job. Keep up the great work.
More to come!
Nice demo Chris - thanks!
Glad you liked it!
Great job Chris!
Glad you enjoyed it
It's funny because I'm currently thinking about making a pickguard
Thank you for this great timing!
Nice job Chris!
Your presentation was really good. You and Matt are good teachers.
Glad you think so!
Sweet work Chris
Glad you like it

Hi speed chipmunk voiced Matt cracked me up!🤣
Me too!

Old school french curve would be useful
It's important to know what you are good at...
Was cool seeing Chris do one! Wish I had that much talent and confidence. But seeing as I’d never even modded a guitar before the GGBO 2020, I guess it takes time. I’m working on my first build. Thank you for the inspiration.
You can do it!
That's work intensive! More holes than at a Bunny ranch. 🐇
You got that right!
Fascinating to watch, but a pair of adverts every three minutes?? WTF RUclips?
RUclips is getting crazy

Glad you enjoyed it
Hey Chris, great video. But it’s pronounced TYSCO 😎 I love these old mij guitars
I am impressed Chris, and no yelling!!! One would suppose this method works well with aluminum, and brass?
I've never used aluminum or brass, but I'd like to.
Well accomplished Sir Chris! A Lefty ...aay ?👊🏼
yes, painfully so in everything by guitar playing. There are no lefty pianos.
Thanks Chris! I was wondering how you were going to do the rectangular holes for the switches... forgot about the beloved pin router. You can prolly get away with hand routing. But you have to have steady hands.
You are correct
Thats a lot of holes🤣
Great job Chris, where do you get your pick guard material?
Amazon, or Bitterroot. sometimes stew mac.
Thanks a bunch
Thank you for the very detailed vid! Your customer will be so happy! Q: Mind my asking what kind of double stick tape are you using (the thinner one, not 3m foamy stuff) ? ...
That is a great question, please ask this on our Q&A live stream on Thursdays so everyone can benefit
Yes, would like to know also. I have used double-sided "carpet tape" in the past and it was a nightmare trying to get it off once I was done.
So cool Chris!!! Matt quit? 🤔🤔🤔
Matt decided he doesn't want to do videos anymore. Chris will be doing all the edited content from now on.

Hey Chris … great video !!!… quick question about the 45 degree bit, it that a regularly available item or something that you got from Stewmac or the like ???
They are pretty widely available. I think that one came from Rockler. But I have another from home depot.

@@TexasToastGuitars - I won’t hold my breath! Love the videos!
Oh hey!
What did we do before there was MDF
Of course its easy when you have professional tools. Try to do that with only a hand saw, knife and a rasp.
👍👍👍👍🤟👍👍👍👍

Other than than its a well done how to build a new Pickguard...
.....
Misleading titles are kind of what RUclips is all about
Pretty much how I do it, sans the pin router.
I am aware of where your hands are. They are at the ends of your arms. That's where I keep mine
now we know
Tidy 🙂

Drilling every hole fits nicely with Matt's comment on the last stream "a tight p**** is like a warm blanket." Gotta love these guys!

One thumbs down from Ben Crowe.
It's so east! Lol if you have a couple grand in power tools, sure.
