  • 2021: I had great experiences with the team at Japan Lover Me, but it seems their busines has been a casualty of the pandemic. For vintage Sukajan I still recommend checking out Etsy/Ebay, and also sites like Grailed. For new sukajan, Rakuten is the best bet.
    I'm back with more fashion! I love Japan for many reasons, but as a visual person, I love how beautiful it is. The sleepy streets of Kyoto; the calmness of watching koi swim in a pond at a temple; neon lights when it’s raining in Tokyo at night, and sakura flowers blossoming in the autumn… Couple this with my quirky dress sense and it’s no surprise that I’ve fallen in love with the sukajan.
    In this video, I walk through finding, buying, and styling a sukajan, from start to finish, specifically focusing on buying a jacket online.
    Enjoy!

    So much good info! I bought a Sukajan jacket about 7 years ago from a company here in the US called Poler, but they never made another one like it. I tried to find some more jackets like it, but did not know the style was called Sukajan. This is incredible. I am planning a trip to Japan next year & will definitely search out sukajan shops for a souvenir. Seriously, thank you very much!

    Hey, I'm late to the party but I just wanted to chime in. You can also order a sukajan via White Rabbit Express, a company based in Japan who will order pretty much anything for you from there. You can choose any website or store you want, copy the URL and give them information about the item and they'll take care of the rest. Obviously that sounds sketchy, but I did a lot of research and saw nothing but good things about them. I just ordered a sukajan through them from a website I found for a shop who makes these jackets in Japan. It's a bit of a struggle navigating through the website in Japanese, but that's what Google translate is for! I highly suggest anyone who wants a sukajan or anything else from Japan to check them out, as you know you're getting the real deal!

    I want to post a quick comment for any viewers watching this that are thinking about buying from JLM. After a few recent questions, I contact the team there to understand delays.etc. They got back to me and seem heavily affected by the pandemic, both with relatives getting sick, and on the business side, lots of logistics/shipping challenges because of covid. If you're thinking of buying from them, I'd highly recommend contacting them before you purchase anything and asking them about turnaround time for your potential order. I've had lots of good experiences with the small team at JLM, but obviously right now they have some issues they're working through. Contact form here: japanloverme-store.com/contact-us/

      I bought 2 from them awhile back for around 100-200+ and I gotta say they are honestly worth more than what I paid. Silk jacket with beautiful elaborately stitched designs on them. Just make sure you order 1-2 sizes larger as they measure in Asian size and are likely to be too small for your actual size.

      @@sergeantruckus1413 I've looked at their website. I know they also suggest one or two sizes larger, the question is should I get one size larger or two sizes larger? Realistically how do they fit, and have any sizes larger did you order yours?

    • @sergeantruckus1413
      @sergeantruckus1413 Год назад +3

      @@KidPersepolis I ordered both of mine 1 size larger and they *do* fit, but I think if they were another size larger they’d be way more comfortable. They are comfortable, but they feel like a jacket you’re about to outgrow. I’m 6ft+ with a toned build, so if you’ve got a similar body type, 1 size larger should do the trick, but if you’re a little more on the thicker side I would definitely recommend getting 2 sizes larger.

      @@sergeantruckus1413 Thank you for your prompt answer. I am about 5'10", and clocking in about 190. I usually walk around at 180-185, and wear US men's large (t-shirts and whatnot). Side note, just got back to the states, I travel to Middle East for extended periods for work, and the diet is healthier there. Feel like I get fat every time I return here. Assuming I drop 8-10 pounds, do you think two sizes up (2XL) would be superbaggy or okay? Can't seem to get a straight answer from their website, but their jackets look awesome and are priced well.

    I would like to know the best price point to get a good material and shape for sukajan...
    Are the $200 vs $400+ have a different kind a material, or just pay for design?

    • @gamingfortheweekend5490
      @gamingfortheweekend5490  6 лет назад +1

      Thanks Anthony, glad it helped you! Generally, yeah, the difference between a $200 and say a $600 jacket will mostly be design. The more intricate the design, the more time it takes to make the jacket. For Vintage jackets (second hand ones) the rarity of a design also increases the price, but so does the condition of the jacket, which is something you don't have to think about with new jackets. If you simply want a sukajan style jacket that's good quality, but not too expensive, check out Rakuten, search for Sukajan and look for the Tailor Toyo ones. JapanLoverMe is the best place for rare cool designs. You can see the designs for Toyo here www.toyo-enterprise.co.jp/tailor_toyo/index.html

      @@thelonesomewanderer8359 It doesn't really hurt to discover the obvious scam that is Koisea as a reference to quality over price, & literally countless other Chinese sellers. Avoid them like the plague because that's what they are. I bought my first Sukajan bootleg from Koisea, too, & I'm sure countless others fell for the same crap. Though, I personally had my doubts about their quality regardless, since it was shipping direct from China anyway. A rule of thumb is to always buy direct from Japan, or the US if you can help it. The prices will always be much higher, but more than 90% of the time, if not 100% guaranteed that you're buying an authentic Sukajan. Japan Lover Me is pretty much the genuine article of buying the real deal, & those prices are pretty much justified. Countless websites are drop shipping sites from China, or just outright scammers accepting payments for no stock. They use fake addresses, too, so watch out for that as well. Normally when you start approaching Chinese sellers about authenticity, & where they're located. You can figure them out fairly quickly because they normally stop responding almost immediately, & most of them block or ban you from their servers indefinitely~

      Yo I’m having the same problem. I ordered from them months ago, and was in correspondence and then they just suddenly stopped responding. They sent pictures of everything showing my shipment was all packed and ready to go. They gave me a shipping number that doesn’t register. Then they said Japan has blocks on shipment right now and that’s why it isn’t shipping. However during quarantine I’ve ordered numerous things from Japan and they’ve all been shipped and arrived promptly. They stopped posting on Instagram, and there are some comments from people saying they’re a scam. They also used to have an Etsy page, which it seems has since disappeared. I’m afraid we may have been duped, my friend. Hoping I can file with my bank if this is the case!
