    I’ve always heard about the toughness of the Irish, and this campaign shows it. It also sounds like Ireland’s Vietnam. One of the men interviewed talked about being poorly outfitted and equipped, but making due with what they had. Anyway, welcome home, men.

      Fatuous cliche, Name the politicians you blame and how exactly their egos were involved Your statement sounds like pacifism applicable to all wars,,,but only if you think there are no just wars or just causes,, Have you studied Congo history 1960 on, All these men were volunteers, Their cause was just,,,to prevent secession and preserve democracy, The cause failed,,but NOT through them

      @@michaelboylan5308 I very much agree with you. People have watched this movie and believe that they have learned something about The Congo.
      It’s a nice tribute to the Irish U.N. soldiers but that’s all. They did well to come back alive. The copper mine owners won.
      Africa is today being plundered at a greater rate than ever before. There are new plunderers; .. the Chinese “Communist” Party.
      They will probably outdo Rhodes, King Leopold, etc, etc, in time.

    Ná Fianna Éireann. Glaine ár gcroi, Neart ár ngéag, Agus beart de réir ár mbriathar. While this is the motto of our special forces. It is men such as these that inspired such.

    Brave men,,,four years of heroic service,And they FOUGHT,,,as it was right to do,,against secessionist Tshombe his Belgian allies and his mercenaries,After the Niemba ambush Ireland did not withdrew its troops as Belgium did after a similar killing in Rwanda, They FOUGHT,,,as the UN must do to defeat tyranny and protect the innocent,Peace fighters,,not a contradiction,,but a necessity, Support Irelands 21/22 Security Council bid

    The problem with "peace keeping" os that there has to be peace to keep.

    • @cros13
      @cros13 8 лет назад +3

      Not exactly golf... until the codification of the rules in the late 19th century hurling matches more resembled a brawl than an organised sport. A hurl in a practiced hand makes a decent weapon in close quarters.

    It is a shame that good men had to die in a hole like that. While politicians stand there and tell then what a thing it was. I see nothing great in dying for a people that have no real desire to live like humans.
