This clip works much better than the full skit as it drops us in at a random point that actually feels like a clip from a tv show or something, and the guy randomly mentioning Christopher Nolan is even funnier without the context present in the full video. It's one of the most seamless marriages of professional photography and youtube skit writing and acting that I've ever seen.

One time on my birthday, my friends came over to my house and we watched "Tropic Thunder" which I find hilarious. They were laughing throughout so I felt great that they loved it to. Many years years later they confesed to me that they had hated the movie and they just laughed out of nervousness and confusion bc they couldnt understand why I found it funny. Instead of saying something they just sat through the whole thing making jokes to each other and letting me believe they were having a good time. Those traitors are still my friends but the pain of betrayal and the horror before such poor taste in films still torments me to this day.

I like Dune. Technical masterpiece, hands down. And the Actors did excellent jobs, across the board. BUT. I didn't fall in love. I didn't fall in love with Dune 1 or Dune 2. And you know why? Because I wasn't able to believe that I was seeing the characters. These are some of the most recognizable faces of our time. Talented actors, to be sure. But I wasn't seeing Paul Atreides, I was seeing Timothée Chalamet playing Paul Atreides. The thing about Star Wars is that even when they had very notable actors, they were able to use hair and makeup to make the characters appear. That didn't happen in Dune.
I did fall in love with dune lol, currently reading the first book, and i have to say the movies dont have much in common with the book apart from the base story. Mainly i started reading because everyone says that you have to read the book 2 to really understand whats going on.
I basically slept through the first movie, but my dad really, really liked it. He and my brothers went to go see the second one in theaters, but I didn't desire to, so while we were there I watched Cabrini, which is not exactly my type of movie either, but it was interesting.

I can see why someone might find it boring, I can see why someone might dislike it due to the obvious overtones on how it portrays religion; and don't get me wrong, I don't think it's perfect, however it's anything but a bad movie. The effects are amazing, the voice acting is amazing, the fight scenes are amazing, I can go on about what makes this a good movie but that won't matter, if you don't like it you don't like it. I was just wondering what specific part (if you remember) that you disliked or found boring so I can understand the perspective of someone like that. The 2nd movie isn't bad imo but it makes an insane number of changes to the story/characters to the point where I'm not entirely sure that we're even getting the same story after this point. It also left out tons of essential information about the spice and it's effects on humans, Pauls powers, the factions of the world, I remember seeing it with my parents and they were asking a bunch of questions about how the world worked that the movies didn't explain but the book did. At the end of the day I still think it's the best live action version of Dune that exists, it's just that as I suspected before either movie was made it wasn't going to be possible to do a faithful adaptation of the books in movie format. The only way I think it could have a chance is if they had a lot more time like an HBO TV series to really flesh out the world and characters. If the quality of the movies are a 8-10 the books bump up that number to 15+ imo.
