Skipping a level isn't a bug. Keyes dies in the flood reveal scene, so there's no Keyes mission
Nah, the modder was having massive compiling issues with the mission and couldn't get it working unfortunately
He also changed the preceding cutscene so Cortana just says "No that'll take too long." and just teleports the Chief to the next mission. In all fairness, the objective of Keyes is pointless since you got his neural implants to blow up the Autumn and Spark just is like "nuh uh" and you don't even need the Captain's implants and just blow up the ship manually.
@@amonsterchef5182 Actually, killing him also prevents the Flood from learning more about humanity, including the location of Earth. In the context of just Halo 1, you're probably right, but 343 expanded and explained it quite a bit more.

There's no way to know whether or not the Flood would have extracted the information they needed in time or whether the information could be transferred to the Gravemind somehow. Being a hive mind, it's hard to tell just how far the Flood's reach extends.
Halo 2 could have ended much differently if they hadn't gone back for Keyes.

Iirc the mod causes 'Keyes' to be super buggy and crash a tonne so the creator decided to take Keyes shooting himself to heart and skip the level

The "Oh No" sound effect plays whenever a loose D20 grenade gets set off by an explosion. The "Take a chance on me" bit plays whenever the grenade draws from the super-rare effect table, with things like the nuke, or the pile of hunters, or some of the more... interesting weapons.
I dream of a five+ grenade "Oh no!" "TAKE A CHANCE ON MEEEEE!" *BOOOOOM!!!* combo.
I just finished playing this and on my playthrough of it, when the "Take a chance on me" played, I thought I was gonna get nuked. I saw it spawned a plasma rifle and I thought "Oh, its the three plasma rifles and extra arm". Nope. Turns out, I got the Scarab Gun out of it

I love how perfectly random cursed Halo is. Like Ray just happened to get a random grenade roll that gave him a flying warthog and a crew, so the whole first half of Truth and Reconciliation was completely different then what it would normally have been if he didn't just happen to get that grenade roll. I feel like you can play the campaign 10 times over and there would be some substantial differences every time. Beautiful.

You know, I was introduced to Ray through RT like most people, and he quickly became my favorite of the AH crew. He's just so funny and humble while also being the most skilled by far. When he left AH, it just wasn't the same and I kinda fell out of watching them. It's just so amazing to see Ray doing so well for himself and maintaining that level of charisma that he had all those years ago. Love ya Ray, keep on being great!

2:03:38 is the first time he acknowledges the "Oh no!" Also realized that buff Riku is just Riku's head on Major Armstrong's body from Fullmetal Alchemist. But the real highlight is 2:48:51 where Keyes blasts himself.
Rocket jumping is so last century. We blunder-jump now!
They actually added a change to the game to support MCC as a mod better. Cursed Halo was originally made for the Halo CE custom edition so skipping Keyes was intentional as Keyes shoots himself in the face in the Jenkins cutscene. To make fun of this they just removed Keyes from the level select.
But on MCC the game has no method of making the game automatically skip Keyes so it loads by default after beating 2 betrayals. To fix this, and the fans complaining about Keyes being removed (god knows why they even care) they added it back in, but with a custom cutscene. Hope they someday modify all the cutscenes like that. XD
But the new patch has so much more. A bunch of new weapons, and of course, way more D20 effects. There are also 2 better weapons than the triple wield riffle, the "totally unmodified" halo pistol, and the tool gun (which has a different effect every time it spawns.
The way keyes does a backflip as he shoots himself in the face really gets me.

That flip was amazing
I got it. Keyes shot himself, and since the H:CE magnum is so powerful, the force knocked his neural implants onto the person of the marine that Chief found propped up against the door. So when the body fell onto Chief, the implants ended up in Chief's possession. Thus, the objective for the level "Keyes" was rendered moot, and thus, the level was skipped, and we went straight to The Maw.
The moment Keyes shoots it sounds like Johnson says "Why are you laughing?!" Which is just even more perfect

I remember getting on Halo CE just to blunderbuss enemies back in 5003, good times.
Dp yourself a huge favour and install Custom Edition & play this mod. It's easy to get a CD key for the game online & the disc is still fairly easy to find if you want it for your collection, 720p 60fps on any recent laptop and multiplayer servers still active, too

yeah i think it was a legendary speedrun achievement guide that i watched that said not to jump across the bridges in two betrayals or it breaks the level like it did for ray.
It doesnt break the level, the issue was he went over the triggers, they specifically made it so you needed to hit the triggers on the bridges in order to progress otherwise it wont spawn the enemies, he didnt softlock it or anything it was fixable
This mod is definitely gonna make the Twitch Clips of this month AMAZING!

Halo 3 does, and there are two versions, one made without mod tools (and incredibly funny) and one made with mod tools that brings the curse to new heights. Not sure if Halo 2 has one, but it's more then capable.
I played this and had to re start the entire library mission 1 door from the end cause a flood threw a grenade and spawned that big buff Riku and it blocked off the door completely. Not fun
The rare time I see Ray enjoy Minecraft is when it makes a cameo in Halo

I am one of the few that have all 700 achievements in MCC. I will admit that I boosted for multiplayer related achievements. But when it came to campaign or LASO related achievements, I did all of them legitimately. I don't own MCC on PC so I never had the opportunity to mod the game. But I did modify my xbox's date and time so i could get the "play a game of *insert halo game title* on a certain day of the month.
I am on the all achievements grind. I have a litter over 400 of them. I have the highest respect for you, king. Legend. True warrior. I am your one like and comment, and I do notice you and your sanity fucking accomplishment.

You were, but those Marines weren't. And it's your fault. Flying around a cramped space with multiple people in there while you were armor that costs the same as a small starship and weighs as much as a tank.
I always assumed he just used his boots to stick to the floor and probably locked his armour.
Yeah, the crash alone was enough to kill the marines, I believe they were also hit on the way down. Between his mag boots and his enhances strengthen, he was able to keep himself in one spot relatively.

Just watched Cursed Halo v3, and wow, you can hear that Ray upgraded his mic since this stream.
I am kinda surprised that I don't see comments mentioning that the pistol that he got in Assault on the Control Room was actually wrong for the mod. It is supposed to have the label of "unmodified Halo 1 Pistol", have an excessively long clip and shoot extremely fast.
