    Great review. Especially highlighting the charge pass through capability

    This looks SO promising! But how do we get external power to this? Can we just use our iPad charger for example?
    And what about the scaling? Does it scale 2x retina resolution like the built in display? 🐬

    🐬 waiting for mine to deliver in the next week or two.
    Thanks for this, Fernando! You should ask Espresso to send the rest of the "Studio Bundle" pieces. The Charge won’t ship until January but maybe you can get a test unit to tell us what you experience. And I’m curious to see how "paper"like the Creator is (matte screen protector). As a 3D model software user, and live event production guy, I’m excited for what this can do for my world.

      This video was a fail, out of touch if you think normal people can drop 1k on a portable monitor. We buy the cheap one, in case it breaks when we travel.

      @@wizeguy2100 I think it's a possible purchase for some, but not for Apple users. An iPad with 120 Hz Pro Motion is more sensible and cheaper.

  • @nicolasdujarrier

    It looks reasonably nice but it is bit pity they were not able to fully remove the chin to have symmetrical bezels on all 4 sides (and keep it a bit slimmer around 7mm).
    Although the folding stand looks awesome, the most disappointing thing is that there isn’t an integrated USB4 plug at the back of it (and maybe neat pogo-pins on the top part in a circle) to be able to transfer data and power the display through the stand : it would be very handy, as one of the folding stand could stay at home « permanently » and have a 2nd one on the go. It would also ease the process when back home : get out the display from the bag, and magnetically attach it to the stand and « voila » (no more cable to plug)

    The Espresso 17 inch is the new one, and I have the OG 15 inch touch and it's a beast. The only beef I have about this is the cable port placement. It's perfect to use as a laptop companion, but it's also underrated for plugging in a Switch or an X-Box. But even better is the functionality with my iPad Pro. But sadly, this sits at home collecting dust because I work hybrid and there's no reason for me to use this anymore. And honestly, it's pretty overpriced. I paid about $500 for mine almost 2 years ago and I think it was a waste because you'll need the magnetic stand and the pencil to get full functionality for it, and at that point you're looking at $650.

      Hey @setokaiba5636! Our displays carry two USB-C ports. However, many of customers love pairing espresso Display with their Steam Deck for more screen space, using our espresso HDMI cable, which is sold separately.

    Hey Fernando, question: I never tried a 17 portable before, but I tried a native 1080p portable screen from Asus, and the text was too hard on my eyes (too small) I know MAC OS scales 4k displays to "looks like 1080p" by default which is what I want to keep it at, so I get the same real state while getting very sharp image and text but before pulling the trigger with the Esspreso 17, I would like to know if text is not too smoll on a 17.3 screen @ 1080p scale --thoughts? ...thanks!

    • @jehutia
      @jehutia 3 месяца назад

      I have a 14inch 1080p dell portable monitor. At native res the text is slightly a bit too small.
      Though I'd imagine a 17inch 4k sampled down to 1080p would hit the sweet spot with text size.

    The value, to me, hinges on how good that pen input is. Nobody seems to be focussing on that, and the espresso website mentions no specs for it. Which leads me to suspect that it's not very good, or at least not good enough to be a legitimate competitor to the current offerings from Apple, Wacom, Huion, etc that particularly focus on that aspect.
    If it's got pen input that rivals Wacom, then the espresso pro is very well priced, and even offers a significant advantage with the single USB-C connection. If it's just a capacitive pen with no pressure sensitivity, then it's grossly OVER-priced.
