S. Korean judoka Huh Mimi wins gold medal in women's -57 kg final at Abu Dhabi World Championships 2024
유도 허미미, 아부다비 세계선수권대회 금메달 획득 한국선수로는 6년만
South Korean judoka Huh Mimi has won a gold medal at the 2024 Abu Dhabi World Championships.
The twenty-one-year-old claimed victory on Monday evening local time, in the women's fifty-seven-kilogram class final held at the Mubadala Arena.
She defeated world number one Christa Deguchi from Canada in a tense and prolonged match which was decided when Deguchi was penalized for non-combativity in overtime.
The victory makes Huh the first South Korean Judo world champion in 6 years, and the first female Korean to take the title since 1995.
The 2024 World Judo Championships is taking place in the UAE from May 19th to May 24th.
