Do you refer to the men's competitors as the two semi-finalist "boys"? I am sure your have some justification for why your antiquated and outdated usage is okay. The world at large has rejected them. Go ahead. Ask the internet. Leave a little piece of misogyny behind and join us here in the 21st century. It's not all its cracked up to be, but I hear the TV is pretty good.
Much respect for Mimi, she knew to keep her space and wait for the right moment to ippon the Brazilian who in my opinion wasn't putting any effort to the match
I am a 220 lb black belt in Danzan Ryu Jiujitsu (albeit 70 years old), and I could beat either of those girls…………..IN MY DREAMS. Such excellent posture and balance and skills. The Korean judoka deserved the win.
As someone from outside that never competed Judo. I feel like all those falls should counter for small points or something because in a fight context those falls would have counted for small injuries. It seems like Mimi was struggling to get a big throw because Rafaela was willing to take those falls before anything could really happen. If the falls counted I think Rafaela would have stood and fought more, or Mimi would have won by small points much earlier.
In the past there were 4 levels of point counting; ippon(1 point), wazaari(1/2 point), yuhyo(1/4 point), and hyogwa(1/8 point); whereas if you get 1 point accumulated you win; but sometime in the past they stopped accepting any point less than wazaari and illiminated yuhyo and hyogwa altogether. In old judo if you keep succeeding small points like yuhyo and hyogwa it accumulates to ippon and win, but in current judo all those small points are ignored. I guess the reason of this change is to lure players to use big techniques so the game looks more spectacular, but I'm not sure if it's good for judo or not.
O pessoal está reclamando da Rafaela, mas ela estava disputando o ouro com a melhor judoca da Coréia.
