I have been using my home made soap for years to do this but it never occurred to me to go out to my herb garden and incorporate them into my shampoo. Thanks so much. This would probably work good for a liquid hand soap too.
Inspired to make a hemp oil soap bar (with a few added oils) to make this shampoo once my soaps have cured. Saved some rain water today, too. Thank you!
i used to make mine with blacksoap my hair always dried so i stop and recently one youtuber by the name on Selena suggest using castille and mix it with coconut milk and i added my leaf .i works great no more dryness and also you can add coffee 👍👍

Glycerin is actually already in soaps, the difference is you are just adding more. Glycerin is a by product of soap making. At any rate, I do not even need to add the almond oil to the shampoo, using either my own homemade soap or Dr. Jacobs castille soap plus the herbs has done a lot for my hair and a follow up with the homemade vinegar rinse is plenty for conditioning. I have not needed a conditioner for my hair in many years.

I love your videos, I just subscribed. You are very clear and organized when you present your process, good job! I love making lotion bars and will try your lotion too. I never heard of colloidal copper, I'll have to check that out. I also agree homemade shampoo is the best, I haven't used commercial shampoo in years and I have very long hair. I use shikakai, amla and soap nuts but I like the idea of getting more herbs in the mix so I'll try some.
I don't like overly sudsy items. They are more difficult for me to rinse. I'm used to less suds since I've been using Bubble & Bee Organic Peppermint and Tea Tree which is specified for Dry Scalp and Healing-Scents Toxin Free Shampoo/Body Wash in Citrus Fresh. I've usually only have to wash my hair once per week since that's how long it takes for my hair to get greasy. Funny thing is I've been using as boar/nylon bristle and my hair isn't any softer. I don't think my hair is producing oil any more as there's none to distribute through my hair. I want to try Morrocco Method again as I didn't understand how to use it last time. They are herbal based as well as each does a different thing (Beautifying, Root Work, Strengthen, Lengthen, and Thicken) so it's best to rotate those. I need to alternate my hair products as they stop being effective after some time. Other good methods for dilution to use are a Neti pot (someone on the Morrocco Method forum mentioned that and I wasn't aware I had to dilute their products the first time I tried it and I also didn't know I still had to vinegar rinse) and for vinegar rinsing I use an old conditioner bottle. I have thick hair and it's dry as well as well but mine is just wavy. My individual hairs are medium to fine but I have a lot of them. One hair stylist who did a perm on me when I was a child said I have enough for three people and they had to use two kits on me. That was a long time ago. Aloe Vera gel is good for hair styling as well. Well the thick kind is what I heard works best for that which I first heard from Annie Ever After who used to be called Annie's Simple Life. She does healthy living, frugal, travel, organization, and Disney videos. I found an organic natural lubricant made from aloe which is flavored and scented. I might try that for more hold as the only thing I currently use is a leave in Shea Butter conditioner which leaves my hair slightly frizzy. My favorite scent is Jessicurl Island Fantasy which is a blend of coconut, vanilla, and citrus. Everybody told me I smelled good when I use that scent combination. I likely will need to get a shower filter as my hair and skin get all dry and flaky after I bathe so it's likely drying them out too much. The water is city and we also have moderately hard water. I will skip the copper as I have some metal allergies. I know for sure I'm allergic to nickel and from reactions I'm pretty sure I'm also allergic to copper. In my experience it's best to limit my exposure to my allergens. Otherwise my reactions to them are worse.

Heidi, what about "Soap Berries" for lather? I had purchased a natural shampoo that uses that for lather and they always send 1 soup berry seed, (it's a little smaller than an acorn), with it. I don't remember why they send the seed, maybe to grow it. LOL!
Some call them soap nuts, I have some I ended up with some how but have never used them for anything. The soap nuts are usually put in a bag whole and added to laundry for washing. I am guessing for the shampoo you would just put the in the shampoo as is?
The other day I was listening to one of your videos, & I believe that you mentioned for aches we could use essential oil’s, rosemary & something else, but I can’t fine that video, please when you have a moment let me know that other essential oil name. Thank You 🙏🏽 & blessings to you 💗
I am new to your channel. I love it. I love how you experiment and share problems. I am looking to make my own shampoo like yours except I was thinking of using my soap nut powder hair rinse for the soap portion since I do not have any other natural soaps on hand right now. If you have time what do you think on this idea. I am having tons of fun watching your videos. Fantastic!!! God Bless.

Please note, I do not always have my recipes written down, in fact MOST of them I do not. This is one of the main reasons I started my channel because people were demanding written recipes that I do not have so I thought, why not just show them. However, as I am able to find time here and there (which is not often as my schedule is very full) I have been taking time to sit down and type up recipes and post them to my Patreon where they are free for everyone but the recipes are meant to go hand in hand with the videos as well.
Yes, this is true that chlorine will dissapait and I used to use this method before we got our rain water set up so I could have chlorine free water for fermenting but I always gave it three days just to be sure. Fluoride, however, does not dissapaite
@@RainCountryHomestead Yes and floride would not be good. Thank you for responding I've seen multiple channels where they never respond to their people and I think that's such a shame. People put them on such a high pedestal and I think, why? They never talk to you or respond. I've been really enjoying your videos and the wealth of knowledge that you have been working to get and share.
I have nothing specific but just leave out what you cannot use and add herbs you can. Here is a list of herbs and more for hair care: ruclips.net/video/v6sOzof699Q/видео.html
I used to sell my shampoo but the problem with that is the cost of packaging and shipping plus my time and materials make it pretty expensive to sell. It is easy and pretty inexpensive to make your own.
The measurements of herbs does not need to be exact and since I usually use dried herbs for such things, I cannot tell you how much you would need of fresh but it would be considerably more in measurement, at least four times as much
Have you tried avocado pit shampoo? What suggestion do you have for Seborrheic dermatitis in hair? I also have very bad eczema/psoriasis on my skin. I have not been able to find a shampoo that works as well as the coal tar shampoo that I use. I would like to get away from chemicals.
I believe much of the herbs I use in my shampoo would be helpful, marshmallow root in particular as it is very soothing and conditioning but calendula would also be a good choice
Just get them really hot to almost boiling, then turn the heat off and let them sit at least 20 minutes. If you are adding a hard soap like I did here, you will want to strain the herbs out while it is still warm and then add the soap so it can dissolve well OR dissolve the soap in part of the water separately so you can heat it higher then mix it all together once the soap is dissolved. I have learned to not over cook my herbs so I can get more benefits out of them
Hallo:) I have a question conserning making colloidal copper. Where can I get the pure copper wire to use ? Does the wire have a spesific "valour or degree of purity like the silver rods: 99.999 % I live in Norway and would be happy if you can give me a e-bay or Amazon.uk link. Thank you very much!
I currently do not have any international amazon links to share but personally would not know which one to share with you. We are now selling the premade copper rods on our Etsy store but I would have to set up a custom order and the total with shipping would be around $20 USD

Have you ever used cp soap in your hair on its own? I make my own soap and I just use that, my hair is extremely thick so it can be quite hard to get it to lather right through so I’m going to try to make a liquid soap from ricebran oil, Elly from Ellys everyday made some!
Do you think using Castile soap with water as shampoo would work good? I read about it recently, I have thick curly hair and not sure if I could do that and use vinegar after like a conditioner? I'm low on ingredients for things so I'm trying to make something work lol
How long can shampoo last, I made it, but without colloidal copper, I put a little vitamin E. Should I keep it in the fridge when I'm not using it? Thank You and Blessings from Croatia
I have a sugestion about the vinegar use. Our church doesnt believe in cutting our hair so we all mostly have really long hair. We had 2 young ladies that used vinegar on thier hair and it began to break their hair off severely. So they quit using it and about a year later their hair is starting to look healthy again. Just a warning about over use of vinegar.
Are you sure it was from vinegar? A lot of times when people use vinegar, they are using it as a follow up to a baking soda wash, which is very harsh on the hair. I had to learn this lesson myself. I would also guess the amount of vinegar and type used would make a difference. I have been using the vinegar for several years with no problems but when I first started doing that about four or five years ago, I had been using the baking soda wash too and saw my hair getting brittle and breaking off. I only did that for about a month and quit it and used only the watered down homemade vinegar to wash with and my hair was much better for it. Then I started making my own shampoo and go back and forth from using both to using the vinegar only.
@@RainCountryHomestead they said it was vinegar, i dont know. I use it about once a month and havent had issues. But they were using every time they washed their hair
@County Rain. I'm guessing the vinegar rinse is to balance the ph. My question is, can you (or, why not) add the vinegar to the shampoo recipe? Did you ever try it?
That is up to you, I personally would not do it because I prefer to keep the separate since I use the vinegar alone for both washing and conditioning than I use the shampoo
What is esturtion plant. I don’t readily recognize what you are saying. Thank you. You ever try using soap nuts in your lye water. It will add to the bubbles and cleansing power. It’s not a native plant to the USA though.

@@RainCountryHomestead wow, that is still a blessing, I'll gladly listen tomorrow, really love your stuff, wish I have learned this year's ago, luckily I'm still young and can pass all the knowledge down. God bless
Awesome sis, thanks 💃👊🏼
Thank You 🙏🏽 & blessings to you 💗
I have a video on natural relief for general aches, pains, and inflammation: ruclips.net/video/V5JOC-b74gs/видео.html
Love it!
God Bless.
I am sure it would be a great option. I have never tried it myself but I would think it should work well
I live in very rural area and it is horrendous to try and watch a video loads every four words please put recipes in the description below it would be so much appreciated for us who do not have hours to watch because we are in the country I love all your videos that I have been able to see so far thank you for sharing and posting blessings
Great video , I assume you make your own face moisturizer, do you video for it ?
Yes, I do and yes I do: ruclips.net/video/M9e5J6Vs1V0/видео.html
My hair is naturally gray - actually quite white already. I am concerned about my hair yellowing. Do you know whether this blend would stain my hair?
I personally have not had an issue with it staining my gray hairs but I cannot be certain with anyone else
I would not mind an ash hue, but yellow would be unflattering. Thank you for replying.
I've heard that if you fill a jar with tap water and leave it open the chlorine will dissipate over night.
@@rebecca55371 I've found the Zero Water filters to be the lowest cost to remove fluoride and other toxins. I just have a pitcher, works great
Thank you for your tips so helpful
Any recipes for fine natural blonde hair? Have to be careful because my hair picks up color quickly ( like from rosemary)
I have nothing specific but just leave out what you cannot use and add herbs you can. Here is a list of herbs and more for hair care: ruclips.net/video/v6sOzof699Q/видео.html
Would you consider selling your shampoo, like 1/2 a pint jar, or pint jar?
I used to sell my shampoo but the problem with that is the cost of packaging and shipping plus my time and materials make it pretty expensive to sell. It is easy and pretty inexpensive to make your own.
How long does shampoo last once made?
The soap preserves it and so will any essential oils you choose to add
How do you know when the colloidal silver or copper has finished? Is there a certain amount of time or do you go by the color of the water?
Yes, there is a certain time you allow it to run and I cover that in the video I linked to in the description box on making colloidal copper
How much of fresh plants do I use?
Thank you for all you videos.
The measurements of herbs does not need to be exact and since I usually use dried herbs for such things, I cannot tell you how much you would need of fresh but it would be considerably more in measurement, at least four times as much
Thank you for this super fast answer.
Hi, i love your videos.i have a question. How long can you store this shampoo for?
Should store as long as you need it to
Have you tried avocado pit shampoo? What suggestion do you have for Seborrheic dermatitis in hair? I also have very bad eczema/psoriasis on my skin. I have not been able to find a shampoo that works as well as the coal tar shampoo that I use. I would like to get away from chemicals.
I believe much of the herbs I use in my shampoo would be helpful, marshmallow root in particular as it is very soothing and conditioning but calendula would also be a good choice
Hi Heidi! I am going to make my shampoo tomorrow and i was wondering how long should the herbs steep on the stove and on what temperature or setting?
Hello Heidi, how do u make u rinse with vinegar or is there a video thank u, definitely doing this thank u
Just make any vinegar you want and use that. You can make vinegar from dried herbs as shown here:
Fresh herbs as shown here: ruclips.net/video/srqq69hBOQ8/видео.html
or from fruit as shown here: ruclips.net/video/lEKCVoq7-8Y/видео.htmlruclips.net/video/depySASTPrw/видео.html
The list of possibilities is endless.
Have you ever used cp soap in your hair on its own? I make my own soap and I just use that, my hair is extremely thick so it can be quite hard to get it to lather right through so I’m going to try to make a liquid soap from ricebran oil, Elly from Ellys everyday made some!
Yes, I have used my own homemade soap as a shampoo bar before
Zo super
Will organic food grade extracts be safe and effective on skin or in shampoos? I would assume of safe to eat, safe to scent lotion?
Yes, they should be fine, especially if made out of glycerin
Do you think using Castile soap with water as shampoo would work good? I read about it recently, I have thick curly hair and not sure if I could do that and use vinegar after like a conditioner? I'm low on ingredients for things so I'm trying to make something work lol
Yes, you can that with the Castile soap and follow up with a vinegar rinse
The frequency could possibly make a difference too. I do not wash my hair daily but every two to three days.
Heidi, with the herbal infusion Shampoo, with it being water, do u need to add a organic preservative, whey, or Acv?? I'm trying this out today??
The soap preserves it.
@@RainCountryHomestead that's what I was thinking.. Ty hun.. Sorry..but i wanted 2 Be sure before i get started. Your so awesome..
Thanks for all your tips. Do you store your shampoo in the refridge or how?
Nope, just store in a dark cabinet in the bathroom
@County Rain. I'm guessing the vinegar rinse is to balance the ph. My question is, can you (or, why not) add the vinegar to the shampoo recipe? Did you ever try it?
I use the vinegar as a conditioning rinse, I often ONLY use vinegar and not soap at all
@RainCountryHomestead what are your thoughts on adding the vinegar to the recipe?
That is up to you, I personally would not do it because I prefer to keep the separate since I use the vinegar alone for both washing and conditioning than I use the shampoo
@@RainCountryHomestead Thanks
When you rinse with vinegar do you then rinse that out?
yes
What is esturtion plant. I don’t readily recognize what you are saying. Thank you. You ever try using soap nuts in your lye water. It will add to the bubbles and cleansing power. It’s not a native plant to the USA though.
Nasturtium
Can you add colloidal silver instead?
Yes, or you can just leave it out all together and stick with plain water
How long can shampoo last, I made it, but without colloidal copper, I put a little vitamin E and lavander essential oil ? Should I keep it in the fridge when I'm not using it? I use Dr Bronner liquid soap insteed solid bar. Thank You and Blessings from Croatia
I have never kept mine in the fridge even without the addition of the colloidal copper. It is just not necessary because the soap preserves it
@@RainCountryHomestead thank you so much
Thanks so much for this video/recipe. I just ran out of my last shampoo batch. I don’t use bar soap, but have liquid Castille soap. I struggle with how much to add, 14 oz is way too much, but 2 tbsp isn’t enough. Oh, and my herbal shampoo concentrate developed a mother, lol.
I use doterra but there high
Do you use refind hemp seed oil or virgin oil?
I have not bought it in years but I believe it was unrefined
Do you need to refrigerate
No, you do not
I'm assuming I can add an extra quart of plain water if I don't have the colloidal copper or silver?
Yes, of course. As shown in my original shampoo video
If you don't the copper do you use water?
Yes
I need a recipe for homrmade shampoo and conditioner. Can you help me?
The video above is for a homemade shampoo and I make homemade vinegar as a conditioner. I have many videos on that.
@@RainCountryHomestead thank you so much
sorry of this has been asked but there are 122 comments....what do u do if u don't have the copper or silver? does there need to be a substitution?
Just use plain water
Where can I go to buy some of your soaps
I stopped selling them a few years ago, sorry
Dl you grow rosemary in a pot inside or outside or in your garden ? Thank you !
In the ground outside up close to the house so it does not get too much rain
Thank you!
Can you use just the oils from these herbs ? Or does it need to be fresh/dried herbs ?
If you mean essential oils, yes you can.
Mountain rose herbs has a natural shampoo base could I pour this into it?
I am sure you can but it would water it down and you may need to use the squirt bottle method of application that I described in this video
What is the link to your store?
The link to my store can be found in the description box just below the video. Be sure to click on SHOW MORE. It can also be found right on the video in the end, it pops up as a red nasturtium flower. You can click directly on that.
Rain Country, I don't have any of the herbs. I just found your videos late this summer and I am looking to plant the herbs next planting year. What can a person use that doesn't have any herbs to make shampoo. Thank you
You can always purchase dried herbs from amazon or Mountain Rose Herbs. Sage and Rosemary are pretty easy herbs to find in your local grocery store
Thank you
Did you say you sell the colloidal copper sets in your etsy shop? Can you send me a link please
We sell the generator and also the copper rods. The store link is the first link you see in the description box below the video
Could you use fills naptha or zote soap?
I have pure castle soap also.
@@dianebowling9154 I would recommend the castile soap, not the two laundry soaps you mentioned. they would be too harsh
Could you use fresh herbs as opposed to the dried herbs?
Yes, when I have fresh herbs coming in, I use them instead of dried when making my shampoos. Dried herbs are for getting us through the winter months
@@RainCountryHomestead Thank you so much!!
have you ever used turmeric in your shampoo?
No, and if you have light colored or grey hair, I would not recommend it as it will stain the hair temporarily
Can it be used on pets?
Yes! I have used the homemade shampoo on my dog :)
@@RainCountryHomestead do you have a good homemade dog food recipe?
@@RainCountryHomestead We also do have room to grow since we live in a travel trailer, where can I get this plant and herbs to make these items?
Hmm...Where to buy Colloidal copper?
You can make the shampoo without the copper, just use more water instead. Or you can search for places that sell copper online, or you can make your own: ruclips.net/video/SlHU9xjlHXo/видео.html
Does the soap have to cure for a month if you are just going to use it for shampoo?
Possibly not but it is best to still give it some time to cure, I would say a week
@@RainCountryHomestead ok ty ☺️
