    I love this album. I bought the cassette tape Christmas of 1986. I had stopped drinking with the help of a mutual support fellowship. It was hard but also wonderful as I began to establish new sober traditions. This wonderful music was a big part of what made it a merry Christmas that year. Who's still listening in 2019?

    My parents bought this cassette in the mid 80s. Still the best rendition of "Do You Hear What I Hear" I've ever heard

    Thank you so much for this! I, too, bought it in 1986 as a cassette and no longer have that. I've been looking on and off for years trying to find this and here it is. I love this!

    Thank you for digitizing and sharing this. This album and the one from 1987 ("Songs for the Holidays") were staples of my childhood Christmases. As were the 1970s Carpenters record and the Time Life treasury set.

    I totally love this album. Like most people on this page, I had the cassette tape in 1986 (I think my dad got it at a gas station, of all places!) and I've listened to it every Christmas season since. It's the first time I ever heard "Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring", and it remains my favorite version for it ever (love that harpsichord). One thing to consider for all those fans out there. After a bazillion listens to this, it occurred to me that I think the album makes more sense if "I Heard the Bells on Christmas Day" is the first song (starts with this big introductory flourish), then it progresses towards the birth in the manger, and ends with a triumphant orchestral swell of "Good Christian Men Rejoice". I'm so convinced that this is the way that it's supposed to be that I burned it to CD this way. Is it just me? Either way, I love this music in any order you play it. Merry Christmas!🎅

    Wow this brings back such wonderful childhood memories! Love it!! Thank you so much for putting this on here! We always played this tape when we decorated the tree, it just wasn't Christmas if we didn't have this tape playing.

    Wow, I hadn't known about this one. Had come here to find Domingo's Christmas album "O Joyful Children" which has some really excellent pieces on it.

    Doesn't this include "The Gift of Love"? My dad (now deceased) loved that song from this recording in particular. We listened to this cassette every Christmas when I was growing up. Thank you for posting it!

      You're smart still holding on to your tape player.
      I bought this cassette tape, "Listen to the Joy" at a Hallmark store, a long, long time ago (in the 80s) and listened to it for years every Christmas....and now have no way of listening to it...until I thought -- Why not try You Tube? (I could probably download this onto my phone too.)
      It's so nice to be able to listen to this now, after all this time. I love listening to Placido Domingo singing, "I Wonder as I Wander."
      Merry Christmas!

    Anyone know where this can still be bought? Or a digital copy?

    • @tmsenzig
      @tmsenzig 11 месяцев назад

      Used and "new" old stock copies of the LP and tape are easily available on eBay from many different sellers. There was no CD released (the following years Hallmark album was the first available on CD), so unfortunately you are on your own for digital.
