This is what sets this cannel apart from others, I learn something new on every video. I have two Ultras and an Infinity and to begin with I hated them all, but through you showing us the proper way to do things, my art is coming on great. I am not perfect or even close to perfect, but people who see my paintings want them, I just give them away, but everyone is happy. Thank You.
So glad i found this video, I just bought the ultra as an upgrade from my cheap amazon airbrush. Watching this i definitely feel more confident that i wont make the beginner mistakes using it now. Great video!
I am a new beginner. I bought an Ultra a few months ago but I have not started using it, I am watching RUclips videos to understand how it works before I start, excellent advice, thanks
Thanks for showing the part about checking the needle setting. I had no idea why mine was dripping fluid but after watching and checking this I noticed that mine had not been seated correctly out of the factory. I was literally about to return it thinking some seals were leaking. Onward!
So you are sayin I can't put neat enamel or neat cellulose primer through this brush🤔that's it I'm sending it back it must be faulty🤬😠🤠😂at the end of the day it's all about taking your time and using a bit of common sense🤓😉 Great video as always Rob, every beginner should be watching your videos👌👍
Another great video. I wonder how I missed this one. I think one of the most important points you made is that skill building with the airbrush is so important. Yes, paint mix ratio, cleaning, etc. are all important, but time is needed on the airbrush. Although I have done airbrushing on my woodturning for a long time, I have never ventured far from a simple attempt to get the colors uniform and get a good fade from one color to another. After the first of the year, I plan to expand my skills on my woodturning to do the more adventurous ideas I have in my brain!

Invaluable advice -- I have a Ultra and I have now got to grips with it (I think) , using your advice and guidance. I already use it for panting model kits. I am now feeling confident , thanks again to your content, to start using it for artwork. I am already fairly good at watercolour and oil and have , I think, had a bit of a "eureka moment" when approaching an airbrush piece of work. I think I should be constructing my pic as "back to front" and "light to dark". Do you think this sounds like the right approach ? Thanks for all the content -- truly invaluable !
Thank you so much. I asked exactly for something like this on your cleaning guide on the Evo `24. I never had problems with the Ultra, except for the cup not sitting right and leaking paint. Though that one bugged me a lot
Wondering where you were becoming concerned you may be under the weather. Glad your ok. I smiled when you explained every day every day hours a day. Yea thats me
Thankyou so much for this video. I was using airbrush primer & mixed with thinner. Also used air army paints thinned down a bit as well. Cleaned it properly. Multiple times. Looks like there was a dodgy part on it so it's being replaced.
Fantastic advice on the nozzle caps there, I never even considered putting the Evo ones onto the Ultra! For an Ultra owner, would you advise investing in a smaller needle instead of just upgrading to an Evo that comes with a smaller one?
Hi this video has helped me so much I’ve got a ultra myself but can u help me and tell me what attachments can I get to put on my airbrush to change the air pressure up and down I don’t know which one to get
Thanks, I have tried Stynelrez primer, and it clogs immediately in brush. I probably need to buy a larger needle/cap or a different brush with larger needle/cap. Perhaps not the best brush for beginner model car builders
As always, useful straightforward advice. I have this brush but I have two issues with it. 1. The trigger seems very heavy compared to my others (Badger and Iwata) and I really don’t ‘get’ the sleeve settings - maybe because I am a 2D painter and these are not relevant to me?
Do you mean heavy for air or paint? Because if you mean air, then just unscrew the screw (and hence spring) in the air intake a half revelation. Just set the sleeve to full range and forget it.
Just bought the ultra for a spare/2nd airbrush 1st time using vallejo air paint put 2 drops of flow improver then vallejo air and its terrible tamiya with self levelling thinner in my iwata eclipse is great you got any tips haw to airbrush vallejo paints do they need higher psi
You need to thin VA airpaints 1:1 with vallejo ab thinner. Dont mix it with tamyia thinner otherwise you'll have a funky mess. I would go for 20-25psi with VA paints if diluted 1:1 or 1:2
Is there any specific brand of "2k thinners" that you would recommend? Already have acetone and lacquer thinner which work fine but it never hurts to have options.

Mine seems quite fiddly with tip dry. I get more tip dry with this airbrush than my cheap Master. Was using acrylic inks so paint mix not as much of an issue.
Hi, would like to hear your thoughts on my experience first time with ultra , straight from box stared working for about a minute then started blowing air back into paint cup , stopped used artists brush clean endcap, still the same. Breakdown airbrush clean using cleaner. Spotless. Fill with water exactly the same . With cup removed and press for air only , l can feel air entering cup chamber . Notified supplier and awaiting reply . I have 2 other airbrushes both working fine. Really disappointed. Great channel, i first site for great information and tips . Dave
I am a miniature painter. I use Vallejo model colour and Vallejo model air. The difference between these to paints is the size of the grain used for pigment. I have thinned down the model colour to water like consistency, but had paint backing up to the trigger. Can the grain size of high pigment paint, even when thinned to water consistency, clog the brush and cause back flow to the trigger? Thank you.
@@dredfxcustompaint, I've been having this issue aswell. The paint has been going through to where the trigger is and I can't understand why. It does it everytime I use the brush and I have to strip and clean it constantly
Do you have any preference regarding airbrush cleaner, (painting models, tamiya/mr color/vallejo/alclad paints), I currently use medea cleaner, any thoughts?
Hey there! Just sprayed first steps with my ultra. (Miniatures) Paint consistency should be ok, but i am getting awful fast dry needle…. Do you have other tips for that problem, other than adding some drying retardent?
Be careful before buying. I bought a defective Ultra 2024 and have sent emails for support, but they never answer them.
