Thank you so much for your tutorial! Now I can play all arcade games I have with the Wiimote! For me, the easiest methode to configure X and Y was: X: Slowly move from center to Right. And Y: Slowly move from center to UP! It worked without any issues! It has been great fun!
The fact you said TERMINATOR 2 was not a lightgun game but glorified joystick was proof you know what you're talking about. Most arcade games sans Duck Hunt or Time Crisis are guns larping as joysticks. Good video worthy of my reconfiging wi-motes and not forking out for a $100 Sinden to "fix" an issue with simple input options on MAME missed by some other youtubers. As another idea a third-party Mayflash (clone) can be found on AliExpress for 16% of an official one for more inflation busting/budgeting tips.
I don't know if I would say most are joystick games, but definitely several are. Mayflash is already a 3rd party solution but I assume there are some Chinese companies that cloned the Mayflash. This is hard enough to get working without trying to save a few bucks and getting flakey hardware, so I'd stick with Mayflash for now.
no dude, T2 literally used an analog joystick, same as revolution x. nowhere in mame for those games will you see an option for a lightgun, because they never used one.
I can’t believe I found this video - can’t wait to try this - thank you. This vid just popped up into my feed. After spending $300 (nothing but 100% failure) on Siden (got my money back) - looking forward to making this work. Thanks again.
You can get pretty close to 1 to 1 with a wiimote if you mount a IR light on either side of the screen dead center. I use two usb wiibars and cover 1 light on each.
do you know how to connect wiimote past the pin code bluetooth setting i dont have any bars just bluetooth and wiimote using for mame launchbox light gun games. i have previously got it to work for clone hero but this time i cant get past the pin :/ @@Beansteak
These are definitely a nice option. In some cases you might need to jump through hoops to add the white border they need to operate, but a good choice. Also I did not go this route because of the cost of their guns and the delay in shipping at the time I started building this.
@@texashomearcadeservices4714 those sinden guns do seem to be the best option as of right now but i kind of feel like they are a bit overpriced imo. Especially with the delayed shipping.
Dolphinbar works on a Mac running MAMEUI but it will only support one WiiMote at a time, not two, even if you use two Dolphinbars and 2 WiiMotes on Mode 2. MAME sees both WiiMotes as one mouse no matter what.
This has been really helpful, thanks for posting. Have you had much luck with 3do games? I really want to get Space Pirates working nicely. Ive had a bit of luck with the Opera (4do) core in RetroArch, but its not excellent. Anyway, really great work, subscribed :)
3DO is something on my to do list because they do have a lot of the American Laser games on there. My first attempt did not yield many results, but I haven't yet spent a lot of time with it.
Super excited here, just got my mayflash, found this video set it up, and working great for operaiton wolf. Would have ben confusing setup wthout your guide. @@moleratdigitalart6324 I can't commit to a specific date, let alone in 3 days if that is what you mean. I will look into the public beta. Does it have 4:3 mode? That is the ratio of my arcade screen.
Congratulations for the content. Can you help about configuration Mame for two wiimotes as ligth gun (with two or one mayflash bar - I have two), for 2 player's game. It will by amazing. Tks friend!
Thanks this is great. Is there any way to get a Wiimote working in LaunchBox? Starting the game from within LaunchBox won't let me configure the controls properly.
You can use a Wii IR bar if you have another Bluetooth adapter to pair your WiiMote to, but it will not give you the hardware button to change the mode like the Mayflash bar gives you. If that allows you to work in keyboard and mouse mode you might be ok, but I am not sure. If your PC doesn’t already have Bluetooth I would just get the Mayflash bar which serves both purposes and is designed to work with WiiMotes. No guarantees on how well it will work with cheaper options.
Just a FYI folk this wont work unless you have the actual mayflash bar itself, it wont work with standard sensor bars that only have infrared LED's. It must be the kind where the wiimote can sync too it. I tried to get this to work without the mayflash bar and it cannot detect the inputs properly.
It depends on the mode you have the Mayflash bar set to. With the mouse/keyboard mode 3 (which I prefer so I don't have to switch back and forth), you cannot remap some of the buttons because they are hard coded to keyboard keys like volume or escape.
If you purchase the Mayflash sensor bar which I show the box for at the beginning, the driver for that will enable the WiiMotes. You can then set the mode to use them as a mouse and keyboard or to use them as WiiMotes only with the Dolphin emulator. I did show in the video how to use the mouse mode which is what is needed to work in MAME.
I can't get two wiimotes to sync to the bar in mode 2. I can use them in mode 3 but it doesn't recognize movement. Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated.
I use two Mayflash bars in order to get 2 guns working in mode 2. You only need one bar for the IR sensors so I hide it inside the cab. But it still uses the second bar for the Bluetooth connection.
Not really it just uses the two IR transmitters in the sensor bar to know how much you moved the Wiimote. If you used two it may actually confuse the Wiimote because it is only expecting 2 IR signals not 4. I have seen other videos where folks have used other IR transmitters or even candles so that is possible if you don't like your results and want to experiment.
how do with usb sensor bar not mayflash? i have one original of my wii and another usb i used in PC and mame only recognize my mouse but not my wiimote (i use touchmote and work well in others emulators
Yes I am using Hyperspin. If your WiiMotes are in mouse mode, you can use them to operate the Hyperspin front end. I believe + maps to the enter key, - maps to Escape, and the cursor keys work as you would expect.
You need a way to connect your 2nd WiiMote to your PC by bluetooth, so you can try using some other bluetooth adapter, however I am not sure how you control which mode your WiiMote operates in without an adapter designed specifically for WiiMote devices, which the Dolphin bar is. For me it just wasn't worth the hassle to save maybe $10, so I just got a second Dolphin bar. However the WiiMotes only need one sensor bar to provide the IR light so only 1 needs to be mounted on the front of your cabinet/monitor.
