Happy New Year! Thank you so so much for your patience with uploads of these longer videos, and for all of the support and sweet comments. It means more than I can ever put into words, and I can't wait to create more in this coming year. :')
i was SO excited when i saw this in my subscription feed lol, another hundred days in the long dark video!! time to rewatch all of them :) congrats on the 25 days in interloper, that is a FEAT--and maybe next time you can get closer to 100 days! all we can do is die over and over until we learn from our mistakes, you know how it is
@@NEONJACK i'm playing hades for the first time right now and so far i've died 146 times :') i do NOT understand why i like games that absolutely crush me into the ground but apparently i do !!
Your start was actually one of the best starting routes you can take for interloper in my opinion. This was a good run with some really valuable lessons. I try to go into each run with a plan, especially if I start in TM. Staying moving in early interloper is probably the most important thing, it only gets colder. Another tip I like to do with wolves is drop the torch or flare and stand next to it, then aim a rock at the wolf. It will seem like it goes into attack mode but will run off once it gets within a foot or so of you. Speeds up the scaring off time and allows you to stay next to your torch.
5:55 Sleeping in short intervals in a warm place is a mistake. You get huge healing bonuses for sleeping for long periods. The longer the better. 10 hours is the maximum you can sleep without becoming dehydrated, so the correct amount of time to sleep in interloper is always 10 hours. The only exceptions are if you don't need to heal or if you are sleeping in a place that's exposed to the elements. That means fatigue is a resource and you should make being exhausted and in a place you can sleep soundly by nightfall a primary goal.
Great attempt dude. I tried my first PC interloper run yesterday and lasted 2 days, you did better than me. Not sure if you're aware (or if you are and just chose to not use the glitch) but if you drop a lit torch or activated flare at your feet and aim a weapon or stone at a wolf, it will charge then change to scared animation and flee. Works like 99.9% of the time on all difficulties. Wolves just became a slight annoyance since I learned that.
literally, i think the first time i tried interloper i died after a few days at MOST like 5 times lol. took me a long time to get beyond the first night
Oh, didn't know about that, cheers! And trust me, I spent a week just grinding out endless failed runs every day before I got this one, it took me ages too. :')
@NEONJACK there's an expert called zaknafein who is goated at interloper and has lots of awesome tips for surviving, and an indepth description of how that glitch with wolves works, would definitely recommend checking it out man. Keep up the awesome content though, I can't wait to see your next attempt!
What a journey! I am so grateful you went through all the effort to make this video. It was funny and entertaining, but also insightful as to what to do or not do on an interloper run. Looking forward to more of your videos.
For your first proper Interloper attempt you did very well, so bravo! It's not an easy thing to learn. Only thing I'd suggest is managing sleep better... seemed like you were sleeping for 2 hours a lot indoors rather than as long as you could, missing out on the higher condition regen multiplier that longer sleep brings. Excited to see what other runs you upload!
Thank you so much!! I had NO idea that was a thing, what?! That's so good to know, I really appreciate it and I'll definitely be smarter about my sleeping habits next time. :)
@@NEONJACK yeah, i haven't looked this up on the wikia or anything but in my experience certain intervals of sleep for different things maximize recovery time. with herbal/birch bark tea, the effects last for 6 hours BUT they expire if you wake up before them--so if you drink herbal tea, then sleep for 2 hours, then wake up, the effect is gone. can't quite remember if birch bark is the exact same, so i'd recommend checking the wikia/forums for more exact times and effects if you want!
"Realism" ... hahahahahaha - love that. In what real world realism does a competent axe not last years, if not decades? I have the same jacket / winter coat I've been wearing for @ ten years.
I was looking for a long dark video and you had me hooked from your amazing line at the beginning of "survival is your only goal and death is your only end" I watched the whole video and it really did feel like a film your quality is amazing
Man that Sean storyline was so sad but it was sooo cool to follow their journey from beginning to end by accident when I was playing it felt like I wasn’t alone though I was .
Just gonna point out interloper is insane and this is a great feat but there is a few mods that will make this even more insane like the anxiety mod that makes your character have anxiety will in the dark making it impossible to sleep unless you start a fire while outside.
Hey there, I just stumbled on your channel because I love watching The Long Dark playthroughs. I don’t have a good enough computer to run it, but your narration and editing is fantastic!! It’s very accessible for people who know nothing about the game and it’s very entertaining. You’re doing great work and I’m glad you enjoy making these videos. Don’t burn yourself out!
I can't count how many of these mistakes I made as well, and i mainly play on Voyageur. One of my favorite mistakes have made is I finally survived I think 24, almost 25 days, a new record for me. I desperately needed food and I killed a bear afew days befor, I didnt know where the corps was. I finally found it the evening of day 24, and I tried to harvest as much as I could. It ended up spoiling befor I could cook it, I remembered a wolf I somehow killed. In a last ditch option I ran towards it to harvest the corps. I harvested everything and was at hypothermia risk and way too heavy, but I knew I could get to the trappers cabin before I died. Or I thought atleast. Of all things that could have killed me, a wolf charged at me when I was almost at the cabin.. My greed was the thing that killed me, I wouldn't have done that if I didn't think I would be fine.
I saw that at day 7, you resorted to flare to scare off the wolf, I don't know if it would work at the time, but I know now it works if you throw and land a rock on a wolf, they get scared and run off.
You should try to get spawns that are in regions with forges so you can get tools as fast as possible as knives and hatchets are crucial, and torches are insanely useful as you can light campfires with that and they only cost 1 match instead of multiple
LMAO literally the exact thing I was thinking while editing this video. No idea how I made it so long; half of it was sheer luck, I swear. The RNG gods were on my side.
My dude, I did not comb through 80 hours of footage of me struggling in Interloper for people to somehow think this wasn't played in Interloper 💀 While I did definitely have really good RNG, it also just looks like I found a lot more than I did because you're seeing weeks of footage crammed into a short video. (It's also easy to tell that I was playing in Interloper by observing the speed that my stats dropped at, the fact that no firearms/tools naturally spawned aside from hacksaws, the much harsher temperatures and more frequent blizzards, etc.) I've streamed Interloper runs live in the past as well, but if you don't believe me, that's okay too, just felt like it would be unfair to the amount of time I spent filming and editing this if I didn't at least try to defend the integrity of the content. :)
First of all, this game is masterpiece! it's obvious you are not very experienced but you did really well. I can say i know the game quite well except some regions. I tried inteloper just once instead of stalker but with map from tld wiki so i cheated and died approx after 14 days few meters near forge with all stuff to forge and to bow with arrows... damn wolf killed me although i had atleast 3/4 health - that was new for me :) Really nice and hard to make video
While it doesn’t necessarily suit the game it would be cool if the long dark had a seasons DLC or something in an alternate universe. 100 days in real life is longer than winter actually is in some places in Canada. I know the game is meant to be cold and dreary. Just an interesting idea for super long game runs. Like an achievement to stay a whole year in the worls
happy new year jack!! you did super good this run, hopefully you can get even closer to 100 days next run. ive never even tried interloper, im definitely not that brave
@@NEONJACK You’ll usually hear a bark when they start coming after you, yelp when they get scared off (either by you being in accessible, a gunshot, or a bear) and a cry when they die from a gun or a bow! Did you film this before Tales From The Far Territory? Because you can now avoid sprains really easily with the Makeshift Crampons until you reach the mine and get the technical bag and real Crampons. Also, during an Aurora, if you're being chased, find the closest blinking street light. It will scare off the buffed wolves, unlike flares and other lights during Auroras.
I find Interloper is too easy so have a Deadman variant - ie no sleep health recovery and only very slight during while awake...even this way is bit too easy as used for full blown Deadman mostly..
Thank you so much! :) That's on my list of games to play! Is it possible to do 100 days in that game? Or does it not work on a day-to-day type of style like TLD does?
I'm 259 on stalker ML was main base. An interloper I made it to 189 an made a serious mistake that killed me. I blame it on the weed. I forgot a water boil object right. A I've already well looted the area I was in. An I literally couldn't find anything to get water lmao 🤣 so of all things I was half health runing for my life back to base slip on the one bar track in the revine connection zone. An I'm not one to just pause the game an quit mid air. I fell. I died lol I'll try again when the save reset for Xbox comes out. The far whatever it's called lol

light a torch before lighting fire,, saves matches,,light fires next to cars,,stay in car to get rid of cabin fever
