  • Cole Beasley Refuses to get the COVID Vaccine - Doctor Reacts.
And he insists that he is not budging, even if it means retiring from the NFL. What is his reason for refusing to get the vaccine, though? And is his reason a legit one?
This morning I woke up, and one of the headlines I saw was that Cole Beasley, wide receiver for the buffalo bills, refuses to get the Covid vaccine, which affects his ability to participate in the OTAs this summer.

    ---------------------------------------------------------
Cole Beasley releases a statement last night on Twitter, and he says that he's not vaccinated, and he pledges to quote, “Live my one life like I want to regardless. I'll be outside doing what I do.
He wrote I'll be out in public; if you're scared of me, then steer clear or get vaccinated. I may die of covid, but I'd rather die actually living. I'm not gonna take meds for a leg that isn't broken.”
There's a difference between prophylaxis or preventative medicine and therapeutic medicine or treatment. Well, that's where we get into preventative medicine; that's prophylaxis. And this vaccine is all about preventing the bad outcome from happening.
“I'd rather take my chances with covid and build my immunity.”
That doesn't make sense; I want to get the disease to prevent the disease. Then he talks about being healthy and doing what he can to make himself as healthy as possible to help reduce his chances of getting severe covid. He's referring to building up his immunity, exercising, drinking water, eating healthy, all great, and most likely you do these things and your chances of having that outcome from covid.
We know that, for example, obesity, high blood pressure having diabetes, being a smoker, all these risk factors, of course, older age, and type A blood are risk factors for having the bad outcome of covid. But all of those things that you can control. You can't control aid or your blood type, but exercising, eating healthy, and getting good sleep are all very important. If you do those things, you're less likely to have a bad outcome from covid.
However, comparing that to the chances of something bad happening due to these mRNA vaccines with Pfizer or Moderna is way smaller than that. So you're looking at very small and incredibly small.
I don't get why Cole Beasley refuses to get the vaccine; he says it's for personal reasons. I have patients in my clinic; some of them don't want to get the vaccine, my own mom doesn't want to get the vaccine, she's a very religious person, and she has her beliefs.
There's really only one valid medical reason why someone shouldn't get the vaccine. If they're not in the category who's eligible, so basically, young kids are not eligible to get the vaccine right now. But outside of that, if someone has a severe allergy history regarding getting a vaccine, particularly if they have an allergic reaction or had an allergic reaction to some of the vaccine's components. Now that could be a legit medical reason for not getting the covid vaccine. But outside of that, there's no real legit medical reason for not getting these mRNA covid vaccines.
When it comes to Pfizer and the Moderna, millions of people have been vaccinated, and it's incredibly rare for anything bad to happen. There have been several cases of people having allergic reactions where they went to the er, and then in the ER, they got treated for the allergic reaction. They didn't require going to the intensive care unit with a breathing tube put down their throat. No one died.
I myself had the Pfizer vaccine other than a sore arm after the first one; there's nothing else. After the second one is it is more common to have side effects after the second vaccine. I felt exhausted, I felt fragile, I had some fevers and chills. Although my temperature was only 99. I ended up going to bed after taking some ibuprofen, and then the next morning, I felt fine.
Many people say that they shouldn't have anything to worry about if others have had the vaccine. That's not the full story because the other variants of the covid, for example, the delta variant of the covid, are all across the globe now. It spread easier, more infectious, and more dangerous over time. That has the potential to overcome those who are vaccinated.

Bro, you're a doctor. Therefore, I'm sure you are aware that some fully vaccinated people have tested positive for covid. Meaning that they got both shots, and still tested positive sometime later. So, it's obvious that the NFL rule is not ethical, appropriate or fair. Everyone should get repeatedly tested. Furthermore, if they are members of an NFL team they should get the same facility rights as their teammates. As a doctor would you be ok if the state began to separate you from coworkers and limit and restrict your job responsibilities because of a personal choice?

Eventually they diagnosed him with both myocarditis and pericarditis caused by the second needle but was told it was very rare, like that makes it ok. His stay in three different hospitals allowed him to observe other young men hospitalized for the same thing so when he was told it was rare he knew they were not telling the truth. Also someone with a high risk of a bad outcome can be lucky and be fine, and someone with a low risk of a bad outcome can be unlucky and not be fine. @@JenG748 Yes, correct. If you consult the physician and they say take it, then take it. It is in your and others best interest. Remember that complications from severe COVID may impair your quality of life for the rest of it.
"Most doctors"-I'm not sure I understand you. Statistically, yes, its astronomically rare but possible to have a condition that would put you into more risk than benefit from taking the vaccine. But you are not a statistical sample. This is why I was talking about your primary care doctor. if _you_ have reasonable _medical_ concerns about the vaccine (or a drug or supplement), call _your_ primary care doctor. The one who knows your personal clinical history and can ascertain whether or not your concerns are valid, and, if so, assess your risk to benefit.
Keep in mind that "I read on Twitter that it's unsafe" is not a _medical_ concern. An example of a medical concern would be history of a medium to severe allergic reaction to a flu shot, requiring an ER visit. If you are receiving treatment for any condition, do call your treating physician and discuss it. (Do the same even before adding e.g. vitamin supplements to your regimen-they are no glitterati, and may interact with your medications).
However, if you are healthy, are not currently being or were recently treated for any condition, acute or chronic, do not have regular scheduled doctor visits (except yearly check-ups or a chiropractor), did not have a flu shot within the last month and do not have concerning events like allergic reactions to shots in your past, defer to the trained nurse at the vaccination site. They will ask screening questions before letting you get a shot, to make sure it is safe for you. You'll be also monitored for any warning signs for 20-30 minutes after the shot.
I'm coming dangerously close to giving a medical advice on the Internet, so let me repeat: if in any doubt, consult the doctor who is treating you and knows it all about the state of your health. Pretty much what the patient's leaflet for any drug says, Rx or OTC. Contrary to what you said ("baby angel"), vaccines are no different and do come with the same blanket but reasonable reminder.

Yeah nothing is 100%… Unless anyone has a good 5-10 years of vaccine data for a virus that has NOT mutated … It will be a pretty hard sell to anyone with some level-headed reasoning ….
Since we don’t know how long and how well it’s going to work exactly …. so let the people who want to get vaccinated try it… and leave those who don’t want it in peace!
Cuz the vaccine is mainly for self protection no? U can still pass it on even if u r vaccinated right?
So… following the airbag seat belt analogy….. let those who want to drive without a airbag or seatbelt drive without one! They r only risking their own life. Not risking anyone else’s.

Hi doctor Mike. mRNA delivery systems have only been in arms for 1 year. How can any doctor say with certainty what will happen in 5-10 years after use to anyone?
Adenovirus virus delivery systems have decades of data behind it. Yet it still takes 2-3 years according to most epidemiologists for the flaws to be fleshed for this delivery system.
Why isn't it prudent to wait for something more certain than the more experimental treatments available today.
The vaccines are limited in time of protection and what they'll protect against. If you're fully vaccinated, you may be protected from some variants but not others. You may be protected from severe sickness and hospitalization but are you not now, as a fully vaccinated person, a better spreader of the disease?
Will not a fully vaccinated person be a better asymptomatic carrier of covid?
    Cheers

We are all sort of in the dark here. My main question is why they didn't do way more clinical trials on repurposed drugs like ivermectin and hql? Apparently the way they conducted these trials they were doomed for failure before it even started because of the way the variables were set in place. These drugs could fail but I am highly doubtful why a group of doctors would put their livelihoods and families financial stability at risk to promote a repurposed drug that doesn't benefit them financially in the slightest. Also another question should be "why vaccinate everyone? If most people are asymptomatic then why not just vaccinate the elderly (who want to get vaccinated) and those who are willing to vaccinate? Then insert strong protocols that if you have any symptoms just do a home quarantine. As long as you are not walking around and sneezing on everyone or coughing on people and just stay at home for X required number of days it should be fine. Death rates would be reduced drastically and we could finally go back to normal.
