One of the aspects of the modularity of the game is that it allows asset creators to create fewer assets while maintaining greater variety. For example, look at the passenger train station. The base one is fairly large, with 4 platforms with upgrades for more. But not all train stations need so many platforms. Maybe you want 1 station with 1 platform. And another with 2. Before, you would have to create 2 train stations, one for each number of platforms. But now, an asset creator could create 1 asset, a train station with just 1 platform, and then a module that adds a second platform.
the railway building options seem improved but unfinished. you literally have one station option, and no island platform, one or two platfrom station(for commuter/branch routes), and the number of platforms is limited to 3 and 6 with two optional "subway" platfroms. i hope that smaller stations, quad platform option, and larger stations (the original had a 12+2 platform station), and the crossover station. the big stations are considered hubs, but i want the smaller station and 4 plat station to be available
As I’ve mentioned, this is not a continuation of Cities 1, this is an entirely new platform. They can’t just meet everyone’s expectations in terms of all the buildings people want but they can expand upon this base game over time.
This video has so much information! You nailed it. And I completely agree with the scale aspect of the city and how much space you have to grow. Can’t wait for the next one

Incredibly thorough stuff here, Slay. I love it! I definitely can see myself coming back to this series to check some info when I first jump into the game. I just wish they didn’t have such strict limits on y’all for these vids so creators didn’t have to do a mad rush through everything.
I am so so so excited for this game! You’re so right about the scale, it’s much more realistic. The modular buildings are such a great addition, it really adds a layer of customisation. I love the stats side of the game, really helps with the simulation aspect. The way I want to play the game is by making it as realistic as possible and taking time to place buildings, zone and decorate areas. One thing about CS1 was it felt too cartoony like you said about the busses, and i’m so glad they’ve taken a big leap in both aesthetic and simulation. Can’t wait for the next ep!
Great video, a lot of the features such as the assigning buildings a service district and snapping districts to streets are a huge plus, I was also glad to see they added the contour function back. Also, the stats add to the realism of the simulation and help you plan better. I believe the developers have listened to what the community wants and have delivered a great product. We have to understand that they have to design a game with not just players with a beefy PC in mind but also those with mid to low range PCs and consoles in mind as well. This game certainly looks like a good balance of quality and performance. With mods, the sky is the limit for this game.
the rail line building is SO smooth compared to CS1! Will likely use it more now that it's so much easier to lay down the tracks and route. Thanks for the vid!!
S o far you and city planner plays have created my favorite content on cities 2. You two have the most realistic and serious content when it comes to city building, like I prefer.
I'm very excited for the game. One thing that has been very disappointed with, so far, are railroad tracks. I'm a train nut. I have yet to see any railroad track in any preview that doesn't have electrification. I hope I've just missed this. Has anyone seen tracks without electric wires to power the trains? 95% of train tracks in North America are not electrified. It would be a punch in the gut to realism if all tracks in the North American theming are electrified. It's silly to make us wait till someone gets around to making a mod to remove the cantilevers to make the tracks realistic. That's what happened in C:S I. All of the tracks in the vanilla game were electrified. A mod was eventually made to remove them but, if realism is a goal, I hope there is a way, right out the gates, to have lines without cantilevers. Perhaps someone from Paradox could comment on this? Thanks.
I don’t know that you can turn them off in the games current state, though I hope that’ll be something we see available soon because I also don’t want to use electric lines!
SLAY! This video hecken slaps! I love your commentary and the way you break things down. It makes it so easy to understand and learn! Cannot hecken wait for part three!
Many chuckles as the commentary discusses focussing on reality in the middle of building the 25% grade railway. Those freight trains sure look beautiful when thinking about how the CS1 vanilla freight looks.
Hello, you said at the beginning of the video that this game is in early access. And I have a question. So when the game comes out, will it be in early access? I wanted to write to the developers on Discord, but for some reason the link on the site is invalid
The early access I’m referring to is only because I have it prior to release, but I’m not sure if it will be considered early access on release, I don’t think it will be though.
I wanted to ask about resources, are resources such as oil and ore not infinite? that is, sooner or later they will end on the map and they will still need to be imported?
Well the traffic a lot of it was the fact that all the sims just used one lane if the use the lanes like they say the do u can move 2-3x more cars easier
No problem! I enjoyed the video nonetheless. One of the most enjoyable to watch so far. Good pace (although fast for me lol) and didn't get boring in any moment. Good to meet you on youtube! @@Slay3K
@@Slay3K Oh, I mean if you want to ride a bus in the opposite direction you have to ride full circle instead of straightaway getting to bus stop at the other side of the road and go in the necessary direction.....
Sir you speak very fast lol And that made me think of something. I know CS2 early videos are contracted to be limited to 30 min... but... "technically"... 🤔 If you have a 1 hour video, speed it up X2 to fit in 30 min... Then upload the 30 min video on RUclips. And let viewers use the 0.5 speed on RUclips... Technically, everything is respected yeah ? 😅
LOL! What a plan. I don't normally talk THAT fast.. This is like super fast for me. I was just trying to cram so much stuff in.. probably went overboard!

I need to look into this a bit more. Im not in love with the specialized industry and I haven’t dove into it as much as I should have yet.
Well the traffic a lot of it was the fact that all the sims just used one lane if the use the lanes like they say the do u can move 2-3x more cars easier
What?
In cs1 most cars would be in one lane. And not use the empty lanes. So if they use the free lane that can move more freely
Considering the AI has improved it's not surprising that initially there's not a ton of traffic.
We'll see! I think as we add more population, we'll continue to get a better picture of what that looks like.
