That block at 6:40 is one of the best blocks ive ever seen! That got me hyped! Two handed block too hand straight up that was textbook. Divencenzo balled out all game long. Nova deserved it and Michigan showed that they were outmatched. THis was the first team Michigan played above a 5 seed all tourney long.
Took 14 minutes for Nova to get the lead. Complete domination after that and they slaughtered the whole tournament. Just proves coaching, discipline, defense, and teamwork will forever beat talent alone. Congrats to Michigan on a great season but this wasn't even close down the stretch. Jay just solidified himself and the program as top 2-3 in the nation. Go Nova, Vs up.
Sounds crazy to say, but Jay Wright and Villanova NEEDED this second national title to validate their ridiculous run of success over the past 5 years - a 165-21 record is incredible, but would not receive the recognition it deserves unless the postseason success was there to go along with it. Now that it is, they can take their deserved place in history.
They didn't receive the recognition because people claim they follow an easy schedule and have benefited from teams leaving the big east. Even though those same people don't realize you still have to win in the big tournaments and play with the best of them and they not only just won, but KILLED the opponents. And not just this year but when they won in '16, too except for the elite 8 and final against UNC.. Heck, Nova won the big 12 this year! Lol I remember idiots saying Nova would lose because they had no chance against "the tough big 12". Killed all their top teams by double digits.
Congrats to Villanova from a KU fan. Nova was clearly the best team. They had their way with everyone in the tournament. I can’t remember the last time I saw a team this good offensively.
I was rooting for Kansas in the Final Four, but wow, Villanova was just in another gear in this tournament. Once they got going, there was no stopping them. A fun team to watch, and once they get rolling, it is like an avalanche. Congrats to them and their fans, and they seem like a team that works so hard to achieve what they are aiming for, which is truly a reflection of their coach.
They won all their games in this years Dance by double digits. I don’t think North Carolina even did that in 2009. Except when they blew doors off Michigan State in Detroit.

Donte was on the team when Nova won in 2016 my man, he just broke his foot in his 8th game and was given a medical redshirt. Technically he just finished his redshirt sophomore year.

But he's obviously athletic, has solid and fluid body control, and a really nice looking jumper. That is definitely translatable to the league.

While his shot is not there on par with JJ Reddick's shot yet (don't forget how lethal JJ was in college), what separates Divincenzo is his ability to drive and attack the basket.
DiVincenzo was a one-man wrecking crew, he completely took over the game and nobody on Michigan's side could contain him. When you have it, you have it and he had it all night long.
Looking back at it now, the Nova Squad had promising NBA players on their roster and them playing in Nova's fast pace and space system and switch heavy defense really helped their development when they transitioned to the league. Brunson, Paschall, Bridges, DiVincenzo, and Spellman.

There have 7 players yes 7 that can shoot this well. Eventually one of them will catch fire and the rest will follow suite. Just a dominant well disciplined team and he is a great 6th man coming off the bench.
