The whole holocaust thing is or was accurate at the time this movie took place. I believe it was in 1992 to 1995 so the internet or pop media was not as popular or thing yet Another reason why they didnt know is most of them were under privileged kids where the teacher's didnt bother teaching them . Hence why ben the only white guy is the only one who knew. The school used to be a prestige "white" rich school until a integrated program was place. This is based on a true story. Its really sad the these kids had nasty views. Sad how Generational hate is still a thing. Love your reaction video btw !
I realised this movie was based around the late 90's during the end of the movie 😅 throughout the movie I thought the movie was based around 2007. That's why I made the pop media comment. I appreciate the comment ❤️
@@ewazz1500it makes it worse when you think about the whole "no child left behind" program/policy that was put in place in all schools in America. Which in theory sounds like a good idea but it was executed terribly. Most of the kids like this were failing their classes but teachers would pass them just enough that they make it to the next grade and then they struggle right before graduation. I was a victim of this policy in my early years (2nd grade) if my mom wouldn't have caught on to what was happening then I wouldn't have done well in school. They constantly told her I was doing well in school but was coming home with Ds and Fs. Which didn't make sense to her because I loved reading and learning and was extremely inquisitive (they were passing me because they liked me and I was a "sweet girl") , she made the teachers pay attention to me during class and it turns out I don't learn in the traditional way and I don't do tests well.
@flovonnejohnson707 it's good that your mum caught on and alerted the teachers. If you don't learn the traditional way, which method of learning works for you ?
A lot of people have heard of the Holocaust but they don't actually understand it. I was in history in college and the teacher asked how many Jewish people died in concentration camps. A girl said six thousand Jewish people. I said six million Jewish people. This was in COLLEGE. And this girl was so far off, it was shocking. They know the basic idea of the Holocaust but not the facts. It's sad tbh. Also I think the scene where the kids are talking about respect is interesting because both they and the teacher are right. I don't think they should necessarily have to respect someone just because they're a teacher, because some teachers aren't worth respect. But that's exactly what the teacher was saying. To get respect you have to *give* respect. And she was respectful.
@@Tove_Ishockey It varies sometimes. I read the anne frank diary because my dad made me read it when I was twelve? I think. But we never really _learn_ about it until I was fourteen in highschool. Showed us the movie and made us write our own diary and we had to choose between being a jew or someone forced to be a soilder from the nazi party (it was wild that they made us do that, now thinking back about it). I heard of the holocaust here and there on the internet, mainly facebook, due to those memes of "do you like this painting? Well it was made by Hitler." Im from Mexico btw, so maybe it varies on country and overall upbringing ?
You have to remember as far as education is concerned, especially for this time period, most schools did not bother to educate people. Especially in communities of color where the system already viewed them as delinquents and not interested/worthy of education. A lot of people did not find out about the Holocaust until at least high school or college. And it is typically a very simple definition given, without any ability to explore/ask questions. Education in the US is all about your skin color and your monetary class

You’re the only one who has reacted to this thank you!❤
No problem ❤️
I didn't get taught about the Holocaust until I was in high school so this checks out.
Did you only learn about the Holocaust in school and never heard about it elsewhere?
that's weird AF we read anne Frank diary in 6th grade (i live in Sweden) I've had conversation about it since before i can remember.
@Tove_Ishockey I need to read the diary sometime.

It’s the Stephen A Smith cameos lmao
love the reaction, but the same memes got a little annoying so i wasn't able to finish the reaction sadly
I mostly do them to break up the scenes if they run too long. Otherwise, it flags up then the video gets blocked

I was so happy that you reacted to this movie, but sir, you talk way too much and interrupt too much.

You should react to “green card warriors” or watch “walk proud” they are both Latino gang themed films
Can you react to As good as it gets with Jack Nicholson and Cuba Gooding?
You should do a reaction to a tv series called "The act" its actually a good series solid performances good story telling.
I'll see what it's about. If it interests me, I'll do a reaction to the first episode
Great Movie
