The Aerosoft A330 for P3D wasnt even half bad... it had fully custom autopilot with LNAV, VNAV, DTO, Holding and RNAV capability + SimBrief integration and all the bells and whistles you would expect from a decent quality payware airliner. Aerosoft have not implemented a single one of these features correctly in the MSFS release. How can an addon 4 years in development fall so short of its predecessor?

It's a tricky one, because their Frankfurt scenery was great. They've always been great at airports and not so strong on aircraft. I remember back to the FSX days when I bought their A320.

That is actually better than the touring motor glider i fly at the moment, which has 20:1 at 80km/h ... and the A330 does this at 463km/h ...the standard training glider, the ASK21 has 33:1 at roughly 90km/h...

My theory about the landing is that the reverse thrust is "disregarded" and it behaves as if it was forward thrust. Also those touchdowns not only catapulted the aicraft upward but also forward. First touchdown instantly increased speed from 140 to 160 knots. Second touchdown made it 190 knots. Just lol.

Thanks for your video. As you correctly stated, I have reviewed several videos on the aircraft. Some thoughts:
    1. You were the only one who was able to land the aircraft in managed mode. All the other aircraft had to go selected and a good number of them had issues getting slowed. You experienced that somewhat, but you were able to adapt to that far better than everyone else (including one other Airbus pilot).
    2. The other components of the aircraft are as shown in the other videos; several significant problems with the automation. You were able to get airborne with good speed and climb angle, but everyone else suffered from issues with takeoff roll, barely getting airborne with any runway left.
3 You did suffer the same "bounce" effect on landing that others had. That said, there were two others that were able to successfully land without a bounce. This leads me to conclude that the landing behavior is inconsistent. The acceleration after landing is consistent with other videos.
    4. Your assessment of the situation of Aerosoft with regard to MSFS 2024 is the best explanation I have heard regarding the reason for the release. It makes logical sense.
It is clear that the better performance of the flight had a lot to do with the fact that you are an A330 pilot and that you know, see and can adapt to the problems that arise. I have been waiting for your video specifically because you are an A330 pilot and your expertise is crucial to understand what is really going on. I did not know that you were involved with Aerosoft from the beginning and I really do appreciate the fact you were trying to be fair to them. However, the fact remains that in the hands of the average simmer who does not know how to fly an A330 (like me...) this aircraft would be frustrating to operate. Similarly, I have issues with the other Aerosoft release (the FSS E175 and I am very familiar with the aircraft..I did my annual simulator checkride yesterday) and that aircraft can be flown only if you know how to fly it without some of the automation. If you can't, the airplane is problematic.
I am curious to see how Aerosoft addresses these shortcomings. It may be that after 2024 releases we may see some improvements, but absent some really significant changes to the automation, I cannot see myself purchasing the aircraft given that iniBuilds will have one with 2024. We will just have to wait and see.
Thanks again for the detailed explanation and best wishes!

I got every single Aerosoft Airbus since 2013. Back in school I had no money for the FSLabs A320, therefore I used to fly these planes a lot. It is so sad to see how this “legendary” series declined with this product. I really hoped that Aerosoft would at least maintain their level from P3D…

I appreciate your honnesty, your disconfort with this product and your history Emmanuel. So sad to see the way Aerosoft is heading but they were smoked badly by Ini and Asobo and had no other choice to salvage what they could with this product. But this is a PR disaster and it will be difficult to come back. I think Aerosoft must concentrate on the publisher part and forget any in house development.

They weren't smoked badly by Ini and Asobo. Them releasing their own version shouldn't affect Aerosoft quality, bear in mind they delayed this a YEAR ago, well before we knew Ini would be making a 300. They took the government grant and ran.

@@A330Driver Then I'm at a loss, unless some of those that advcanced in ranks, advanced to the point of their failure.
I mean you will know how Mathijs was as a project manager, you worked under him. And what the team produced under him was decent back in the day.
But this MSFS version of the A330 seems to have been cursed from day one. It has been in development hell for quite a time and whatever factors lead to it, Mathijs seems to either have played his part or at least was not able to fix what was going on.

    • @A330Driver
      @A330Driver  3 месяца назад +12

It's completly different developers. Aerosoft is mostly a publisher, just like simmarket, orbx, etc.
They also have an in-house development team though.
In case of the CRJ it was made by Hans Hartmann. Aerosoft provided the 3D model and textures though, that's why it carries the Aerosoft name. But the systems were all done by Hans.

Bought the A330 base pack earlier today-yes, it's disappointing so far and needs a plethora of improvements to bring it up to the standard of the P3D A330 which I enjoyed but I was able to do a quick flight in the A330 out of Fly2High Valley International Airport-KHRL and handling with my TCA sidestick is A-OK.
Yeah, the cabin is awful and an afterthought just like with Aerosoft’s own CRJ unlike the excellent cabin of say the iFly MAX 8 or even the JF 146 Professional which at first too had an awful cabin but Just Flight redid the cabin and now it’s nice!
Me? I do like virtual cabins even ones with virtual passengers seated like with LatinVFR’s Airbus or the seated passengers on supported planes with GSX Peo but most of the time for me, I’m focused on daily A to B operations in the virtual cockpit.
I mainly use GSX Pro for my pushback needs but the A330’s EFB pushback screen is handy in a pinch.

This feature mentioned by Emanual at the root of the wings looks for me as it has a defined aerodynamic function. Is looks like a boundary layer fence, similar to what you would find at the IL 62 somewhere in the middle section of the wing. It helps to separate turbulent airflow flowing down the leading edge in order to improve efficiency and sometimes high angle of attack handling quality. In case of A330 it would separate the airflow from the belly fearing. But may be im am mistaking

Integrity of character and standing for honesty while keeping loyalty and gratitude in their proper place... Emanuel you just gave Aerosoft the greatest gift you could ever give... you example is worth imitation by the social media community...cheers and you gave me one more reason to be a subscriber of your channel.
The reality is that companies are dynamic entities and are made of people, the qualities those people show either build or destroys the reputation of the company.
People come and go all the time, so the company you worked for years ago is not the same company today.
Therefore it will be misplaced loyalty for anyone to apply the standards that people applied to a company years ago to what standards (or lack thereof) the people making decision today are driven by. That's why your approach is invaluable if Aerosoft decide to listen.
