    The game I learned many acronyms at 10 yrs old many of my school friends didn't know existed in '99 and are just everyday use in our modern language today... (Wtf, lol, rofl, Fu, gg, Ty, afk... Etc) Thx for uploading. Brought back my childhood... Friday nights, Saturday nights... I quickly gained an edge and owned adults 2x, 3x my age including my dad and his buddies. Favourite gametypes were All Rails but I also loved that rocket launcher. My hands and fingers will never forget the mouse+keyboard style of play in this crazy fast paced arena style shooter! The sights and sounds are exactly how I remember it and bring back so much nostalgia...

    • @gozinta82
      @gozinta82 6 лет назад +1

      Yeah, in Q2DM you were definitely tested on your dexterity and muscle memory. I remember that jump too, doing it so much that it was like clock work, then if you couldn't get it that way or the way you mention, you could rocket jump.
      Then there was the mods that came in and grappling hook became a thing. Playing DM or CTF with a grapple was insane. YOu'd see ppl sling across a room like spider man jump in mid air, rail you in the face, then grapple another wall and exit out the room gracefully w/o even touching the floor. It was some batman shit.

      @gozinta82 6 лет назад +1

      FUCKING LOL on the obi-wan reference. YEAH I haven't heard that since the 90's. I specifically remember having to lead your opponent due to the 200 or 300+ ping and you'd pull the trigger and sometimes there'd be a short delay and you hoped you pulled the trigger first. Getting Cable was a godsend. It was like taking candy from a baby. My friend and I would join a server halfway through and just top the ranks because of the advantage of having a 30 ping.
      That night I my friend bound screenshot and secondary fire to the same key in Half-life so we could take screenshots of fools getting double-barrelled across the room.

    At the time Quake2 for me was a huge backward step from Quake1 (Quakeworld). I remember the entire Quake community including myself waiting eagerly for the Alpha/Beta release, and were hugely disappointed. Why? Well at the time ... we couldn’t hack the slow rockets and movement physics, the biggest issue was how slow it felt compared to our beloved Quake1/Quakeworld 😂
    The Quake1 community were shocked when Thresh moved to Quake2. Now over 20 years later it looks pretty decent, undoubtedly more familiar to most who have played the followup Quake releases.
    P..S This does look like Thresh is actually playing here, but only he can confirm it for sure 🧐

    almost perfect rocket play, low aim skill at long range rail, but it happrns when used to play only with rockets. Most dejavu moment...when you rail a guy just as the elevator lifts off

    Anyone who sees this comment and wants to play again, drop me a message and we will schedule one. Could even do "The Edge" and practice some jumps :) I have been playing recently on just standard Quake II DM and the skill level has increased rapidly, but I still hold my own after 15 years away :)

      Q2 didn't go anywhere. You can find people to play if you look in the right places.

    I remember a long time ago I would rail with 100% accuracy and aim at you real fast on this one map . And this other map,called "Sky" or something like that I would disrupt and never miss even if you were running on the other side of that map only way you could dodge my disrupter was by moving outta the way I was like 10 or 11 when I did that.
