    This is mind blowing in every sense: the record itself, the history, the narration, the recams, the music...!
    And at the end you realize the vast majority of competitors jumped on the wrong side of that gap for years.
    This video truly deserve Karl Jobst grade view counts!

    • @Simon2d3d
      @Simon2d3d Год назад +10

      I got the impression they kind of did have the right spot for their momentum and speed. It was a pretty direct route and the jump just makes it. With the extra speed boost however, the 2nd window long jump pays off. He has enough boost where he needs to start early and air strafe to avoid hitting walls/ceiling.

      Don't even compare this video to Karl Noobst's.
      This is presented in a league of its own. All Karl is good at is to, for no reason at all, slander people who are better gamers than him, such as legendary arcade gaming world champions. Karl is a jealous guy and I rate all his videos DOWN UNDER acceptable, just like his country of origin! It used to be an old prison colony so it is fitting that Karl the Unjust and Criminal is from there. It is no coincidence and surprise that he is getting sued all the time (rightfully so).

It is the perfect length, with just the right amount of information and context to drive home the weight of the record without boring the audience. The tone both vocally and musically are fantastic, relaxed yet awe inspiring.

There is nothing else like this game. Then in the fall of 1997 my brother somehow got a dialup program to work in DOS and we got to play on the deathmatch servers and HOLY CHRIST it was LEGENDARY. I remember the massive improvement we got from going to a 28.8 modem to a 56k modem. Server IP addresses were gotten through the in game chat and we had the IP addresses on yellow post-it notes stuck to the housing of the CRT monitor. There is so much that is unexplained in Quake but it just makes sense. This video brought me back in time and a lot of memories hit me.

    Wow! I am currently on vacations far from where I live, and here at night I stumble across this!! What an amazing video my friend, you explain it so clearly that even a non-Quake player would *almost* understand how truly remarkable this run is. 😊 I remember back in the day I could get 7 at will, but there would be days when it felt hard to do... was always inconsistent here. I used to think of the ER of this map as having two variants: "the Fab way" (one continuous sequence) and "the Markus way" (one bunny, walk a bit, then one sequence). With the Fab way I always gained more speed and ended up hitting my head on that ledge after crossing the gap. So I'd stick to the Markus way if I wanted 7s, even though one sequence looked much cooler 😂 these guys of recent years move so smoothly and gain so much speed, I truly am kindof jealous and wish I could have learnt to play like that when I was still playing. Congrats to Chambers, he truly is amazing. 👏
    And while I'm talking about this I am kindof sad to see there is no entry of mine from back in the day in that list!? Hard to believe I never submitted a 7. Not that it matters now (in fact it would look mediocre compared to today's players), but it would've been nice to know that one of the players in that final clip was me, far behind the leaders of course 😅😅
