I just installed the CPU for my first time. Holy shit that was so stressful. I didn’t realize how hard I had to push the lever and the sound it makes. Damn
Dude I bought sh*t myself putting that in 😂 I just now did it and I’m praying it works. Mine never like “snapped in” or lowered so it feels like it’s bout to pop out of the case lol. I lined everything up perfect so I’m hoping for the best
I came to this video because i thought there is noooo way i should need to apply that much force to that lever. It looked like the frame was the wrong size or shape. apparently im wrong.
Same man, I'm literally in the same situation, I made sure it was fully seated and everything but the force I needed to push the lever down and the sounds it made freaked me out so much 😅
Veteran AM4 here. Was a bit nervous doing my first AM5 build, so I came here to make sure I was doing it right. Yeah I did notice it took a ton of pressure when I was going to push the lever back down. Anyways still got the rest of my build to do, wish me luck

nice how to video I received my 7 7700 CPU today and your install instructions will come in very helpful I decided to wait until the non X version of the 7 7700 became available
Yup, almost ruined my MB in my 1st install. Thankfully, still went in clean, even w/o the plastic cap that I took off being too gung-ho in my 1st ever build. Cooler went well, no troubles.
I did same thing and took cap off, definitely never take cap off until you are 100 percent committed to putting CPU in. I fucked around with cap off. Messi g about. Being careless, killed the board. 🙄
You are a Hero sir I was really annoyed with losing my AM4 bracket but then I realized there is no AM4 bracket, you just have the metal things to pop on the fan instead of the bigger ones that it came with I was searching for 3 hours for something that didn't exist because I believed I took it out of the package but all that was in there were the 4 screws you saved me big time, I was thinking my new gaming PC already had an incompatible cooler, and I really stressed out about that.

I am going to getting a PC next week with 7800x3d. Is it the same way as this video? I am very nervous of breaking it because it is expensive. Will it be clear when you line up the triangles that it sat in properly before using the lever? Hard to tell on video. Debated paying 80 dollars for microcenter to install it but that seems to be way too much for a 30 second process.
Yeah mate, 100 percent if it's fitted into the slots you are safe to pull it down. U can give it a very GENTLE, TAP, or wiggle but really there's no need u can tell it's in just by looking at the slots
I have never built a pc before and i received my cpu today i was curious how it looked and i open it up messed around with it and put it away no big deal fast forward a few hours later i want to look at this video and the first thing i hear is don't touch the pins then i think mack to me messing around and realized I TOUCHED THE PINS it was quick and very little pressure should i be worried and what should i use to clean it in case there are any oils on the chip now?
Good question i had. Does the am5 latch lock better than Am4 latches because there were some rare times i had where the am4 latch would fail and unlock cpu after building a pc i noticed it 2 times and one of those times my friend who put one cpu in he swear up and down he put the latch down Thankfully, 2 times it did happen, nothing was damaged, and we just lock it put cpu in correctly.
Hi! Do you have a video about changing from am4 to am5 , about what to uninstall? I have Ryzen 5 and its programs/apps from AMD, will keep GPU. But we'll, about cpu stuff
According corsair u can use AM4 coolers without having to use new or other brackets. Only coolers with a custom bracket/backplate need to be installed different or are not compatible? Why did u have to use it? Upgrading atm and this confuses me.. Corsair 👇🏼 Yes, the AMD AM5 motherboard socket uses the same CPU cooler bracket size as the AM4 socket. This means that if you already have a CORSAIR cooler attached to an AM4 motherboard, you do not need to purchase new brackets or replace your cooler when upgrading your system to the new AM5 platform.
I just installed my new Corsair H170i Capellix cooler onto my AM5 motherboard and it used the old hook (so no removing the plastic pieces) method there was no other option in the box when I opened it.
Fair enough. The one I'm using is the XT, which is a the latest model. Corsair says it's perfectly fine to use AM4 versions (see help.corsair.com/hc/en-us/articles/9842633794317-Is-the-AMD-AM5-motherboard-socket-compatible-with-older-cooler-brackets-)
@@TheProvokedPrawn Yes I got it installed just a pain to get those hooks sorted without messing up the pre-applied thermal paste. I ended up re-applying paste to get the job done after wrangling those ridiculous hooks. Strangely the instructions that came with my cooled did not have the hooks as an option but had the newer mount in their diagram.
Im ashamed to say this but i actually screwed up the first time because the processor did not go in all the way. the left and top side where the arrow did not go in all the way but i pushed it gently and it popped in. you should update your bios before installing 7800x3d

If they're that fragile, I don't see the motherboard lasting past the first CPU upgrade since so many people will bend the pins eventually

Can we wiggle the cpu to make sure it's in?
