Dan is a Christian brother who lives in Brazil. He wanted to bring some attention to the Easter holiday, so he recorded this and released it on Good Friday, 2023. Also, the harmonica he used was his first musical instrument, given to him by his daddy when he was 7 years old. Love and peace, my brother!

I saw the play 40 years ago (in my teens) and used to listen to the Soundtrack over and over, so the original is literally burned into my memory. So when I heard Dan perform it, I felt that he WAY outperformed Ted Neeley’s version, and that impressed me. Not only did he *sing* it much better, but the *emotion* he put into it was palpable. I love the power and enthusiasm. He's taken an old lady song and made it a Warrior's song. Jacob, standing on the hill proclaiming his praise of his God even though the men of the plain will come to kill him for it. Fearless and powerful. I’ve shared Dan Vasc’s Amazing Grace rendition everywhere I can, with churches, pastors, friends, everyone. I have to admit surprise to relatively cool receptions by some pastors and churches because of the heavy metal connotation. They obviously did not give it a listen. Truly so sad. I’m glad you listened. God’s grace belongs to EVERYONE and this hymn belongs in every genre. Dan’s masterpiece creation is how this hymn needs to be sung. With power that reaches viscerally. I love the power and enthusiasm. He's taken an old lady song and made it a Warrior's song. Jacob, standing on the hill proclaiming his praise of his God even though the men of the plain will come to kill him for it. Fearless and powerful. It makes the rest of us weak mice want to stand up straight and shout out praise with chests out in challenge of those who would deny us.

Time. God-given gift is what he's got!! Never have i ever heard a better rendition. And Im a PK (Preacher's Kid) have been in church since in utero. My daddy's in radio and Christian broadcasting. I'm an atheist who grew up with religious trauma, being abused by people of faith, and shy away from everything even remotely related to christianity because of it, but I am a huge fan of Dan Vasc and he actually made me enjoy this song.
Don't let the actions of evil humans turn you away from Jesus! Evil can be found everywhere. It is an unfortunate fact. There are kind and humble people to be found also. Your heart will tell you who is good for your soul and who is not. When that happens it is the Holy Spirit in you.

I’ve shared Dan Vasc’s Amazing Grace rendition everywhere I can, with churches, pastors, friends, everyone. I have to admit surprise to relatively cool receptions by some pastors and churches because of the heavy metal connotation. They obviously did not give it a listen. Truly so sad. I’m glad you listened. God’s grace belongs to EVERYONE and this hymn belongs in every genre. Dan’s masterpiece creation is how this hymn needs to be sung. With power that reaches viscerally.
