My dad is an actor called Melvyn Hayes I’ve been fostered with him since 1999 and Mark Wingett is a friend of ours. I first met mark in 2008 when he and my dad were in a play called Run for your wife by ray Cooney
The earliest memory of this show was my Grandfather and Dad watching The Bill in 1997 in Melbourne, Australia and I caught the closing credit scene. And it has been stuck in my brain since.
I have similar memories. As a child, I was not a fan of dramas, I was only ever interested in scifi and cartoons. But this was a show that my dad and I would actually watch together in silence all the time.
i'll always remember the bill would have the feel of bringing you so much further into the action with the live style camera and not the documentary look it was given in it's final years
It should have kept its classic theme to the end; being set in a tower block estate (Peckham) I don't think it could have continued after the Grenfell Tower fire...
@@JustAnotherGamer1985 We adopted the American emergency services [ Police, Fire, Ambulance] siren sometime in the late 80's I think here in the UK, I preferred the original "nee naw" sounding ones we had.
I watched a railway documentary on the bbc Britains Railways Railways back on track.. I they filmed two btp officers someone sang the bill theme tune, the copper said and i quote "i haven't heard that in a long time" 🤣🤣 I suppose it's better then oink oink 🤣
@jameswadd8856 yeah am with you on that .. the bill went way down hill , a shame because it was really good in the early days , UK drama has lost it's way now .. preferred american shows , Like dexter and prison break.
but thats the way they do it these days they fiddle about n change stuff and when it does not work they just bin it they don`t take responsibility they just scrap it and carry on
Anyone else notice the bbc has a programme for each emergency service? The bill. Police Londons burning. Fire and rescue Casualty. Accident and emergency
@WolfpackProductions: The Bill was made by Thames Television for ITV, London's Burning for LWT on ITV too-as @CountZero78 pointed out. TBH, Medical Dramas, Fire and Police and Detective Drama's too were the main staple of entertainment before the reality crap we see today that passed for TV on any of the channels.
tho actually the 1998 2001 2003 and 2007 titles were not bad it was the 2009 titles that was totaly crap but yh the best ones were 1984 and 1988 it really was a shame as the last year or 2 they ruined the bill
The piano pieces are just brilliant
Definitely 👍🏻 never get bored of listening to it

The original was absolutely genius, no other song like it or no other song can compete the original ‘Overkill’.
*slowly walks along a pavement*
That drum intro❤
He's gone round the back!
Bring back the. Bill
Amazing programme still watch it to this day 🤠
It's on drama weekdays at 12 dinner time. And Sundays at about 10am.
I love this Theme Tune the best the 1988 Overkill Theme Tune.
Me after seeing the old bill intro: *slowly walks along pavement with feet at an angle
💯
That drum fill at the start!!
Rock And Roll.
I loved this version. The more modern theme was absoloutly wank.
The very last theme song had no soul and felt disconnected from the show's history. There was no need to change it imo
@@sillygoose635 agree with you 2007 one is the best
I used to play this on my phone walking behind 2 cops at the mall they turn around and get annoyed or laugh

this sounds good
the bill should not have been stopped it's class I watch it every morning 07:10 on drama
It should have kept its classic theme to the end; being set in a tower block estate (Peckham) I don't think it could have continued after the Grenfell Tower fire...
Sounds like Ashley Irwin, the Australian television themes composer!
Same!
This Music Is Funky. Thanks Mate. X
Duw dew daw Dow Du dew dia Duw dea
If i became a Police Officer, this would be my ringtone and insist this be played during a Pursuit in car or on foot!
