Throughout my entire pre-childhood I thought this was a movie that I had unconsciously made up myself, only remembering glimpses of the mc and the hot fish
For some reason I laughed at among us when I first watched it as a kid. I was ahead of my time.

I actually enjoyed this movie as a kid and was always shocked by the hate I saw it getting.

I was shocked by how little I liked it after all these years.
Still wasn't bad enough to justify the level of criticism though. It's not EXCEPTIONALLY bad so the criticisms, whilst often valid, are just overblown.

I totally didn't get until now that Lenny being a vegetarian was kind of an allegory for something else. That went over my head as a child lol, but pretty cool of them to include that message of the "odd" child striving to be accepted by their family!

@@shola.i8262 Yeah, like for one he's got a lot of stereotypical "gay mannerisms" so to speak, being more effeminate and all. His dad wants him to "be a shark" which is similar to parents of gay boys telling them to "be a man", and also he basically "comes out" to Oscar as vegetarian and talks about how he hasn't told anyone else and all that. Now as an adult it feels pretty obvious what they were going for but I totally didn't notice as a child haha

Shark Tale is THE perfect storm of awfulness. It is so incomprehensible from a film making standpoint, and I LOVE IT. This is probably one of the worst movies I’ve ever seen and I will NEVER get tired of it.
You're not wrong. It's one of my favorite movies from my childhood but absolutely a nightmare if you watch it for the first time as an adult.
also the fact that Lenny’s whole character is a metaphor for being gay feels so out of place too 😭😭 could’ve been good in a different movie but such a weird choice to include in this one
