- In this video we get the steering sorted after making it way too quick and heavy in the last video. We also go ahead and lower the front of the car, getting more visibility and making it MUCH stabler!

Forza motorsport built or bought series got me here
@@flameo8191 Me too!!
brooo exactly i was here for the forza back in the day
Drag strip nerd grew up T_T I almost let one tear out , but i'm a man , sorry XD
@@sanyone1659 just waiting for him to buy some old Mitsubishi or an mr2 and then drag race it for as cheap as possible
And you still need to build a skid plate for your exhaust
The only thing about adding a skid plate now is the clearance would be reduced even more, Caleb doesn't want to remove the unequal length headers as the signature Subaru burble would be lost (which I think is fair) so I think he should just see how it goes for now. I'd say it would probably be more important go get some windows atm.
(Also if he does end up damaging the headers due to not having a skid plate then he may be compelled to get equal length ones mitigating some of the reasoning behind getting a skid plate)
If it were mine, I would put a drivetrain in it with the engine farther back, so there would be space for headers infront of the engine, but not under it.
@@cyrusthegreat3553 or just get equal length or custom headers lol
@@struangorrie6308 I think he said that he wanted to get equal length headers in the future and then make a skidplate for them.
A skidplate for the current headers would probably look super wierd because the angle would have to be very steep.
thats why you just remove the exhaust
love the ketchup and mustard front suspension and engine bay lol

Gingium 2017: "This is not Forza, I can't AWD a Miata"
Gingium 2020: *changing the steering on his AWD Miata*
Haha
Rally cars have really short final drive ratios, usually they top out at only 130 mph.
Even Group B rally cars only did around 140
Yeah! I definitely want to get shorter gearing for this thing
@@_Gingium_ I really like those wheels, I would change the final drive ratios instead of the wheels. Or, you could have a showcar setup, with bigger springs and those wheels, and a rally setup, with smaller wheels. In fact, rally cars have to race on tarmac and gravel, so all the crew has to do to change the car is change the coilovers, and the wheels, then give it an alignment.
@@_Gingium_ JDM turbo foresters got a significantly shorter final drive. 4.44 vs the WRXs 3.9. I got a trans and diff shipped to my front door for a little over 400. Might be worth looking at
what are the advantages of that???
I raced go karts for about 6 years. The one thing that was always said was that you can never dial in your kart enough. There's always room for adjustment and that isn't a bad thing. I think you have a really good set up. Now you need to become a better driver and then you'll be able to really fine tune everything once you get more seat time
Nice what class did you do I do rotax
@@jaydenneal-holder2089 I went from junior clone to senior y pipe. I stopped there because I started really growing up and getting a job and stuff
@@thatonecarenthusiast8491 are those the american classes? What kind of engines were you running? Back when I was racing in New Zealand the main class ran Yamaha KT100's, and I started out in Cadet class with the Raket engine. I think it was 75cc? Terrible carburetors on those things. Rotax was only just gaining momentum back then.
This is one of my favorite builds. I am excited to see it come so far.
Those final things to fix feel so amazing because after they are fixed the car is perfect haha! Rally Miata looking amazing, but please finish everything before moving on it deserves to be perfect!
I think the whole build will really pull together once you install a trophy truck guard on the bottom front and a bumper in the rear
I was waiting for this i just watched the last one and now I'm glad I've been in the patreon gang for like 6months now. Also I think 2:1 quickener is meant for trucks its gotta be
Hey ging maybe u should put a mesh over hole in the hood kinda like an evo to keep larger debris out
You sure don't want dust and rocks falling straight onto the intercooler and around the engine bay
Maybe a hydro break with dual rear calipars, I think it would help with trying to get round the tight corners. Love your videos.
People like this comment so he can see it
I think it needs a skid plate so the exhaust, or other engine components don’t get damaged by big jumps or rocks
Hey Gingium, I‘d build a skid plate for the exhaust and oil pan before the next event. I know you‘re not rock crawling or stuff like that but I‘m still always a little concerned about the EJ. Give it some protection. 😊
your steering wheel has some sort of wobble front and back 6:27 to 6:32 you can see it almost as something is flexing or some bolt isn't tight enough or maybe is the camera mount, either way good work with the build! and hydro should be a nice addition for rally.
Okay. So after combing the comments, rewatching the past two miata videos, and taking some time to identify some issues. Here's a compounded list of your previous qualms, other peoples ideas, and my two-cents.
:Front Exhaust manifold skid plate
:A new steering quick-release mechanism
:Better lighting solutions for night rallying
:A rear bumper to match the front
:Working on gear ratios and/or tire size changes for your low gear boost issues
:A nice bit of grating welded over the hood intake to keep large debris from turning your intercooler into a sieve
:Finally the suspension work you've been teasing/dreaming about
I lowkey love the mcdonald colored suspension, now it matches the engine
LOVE THE START OF THE VID! HANG ON BOYS!!
Love your channel, very entertaining. Wondered if since you've "toyed/monkied" with Miata, wonder if you would consider Japanese Domestic Cars (think we can import those older than 25 years), like from Duncan Imports, thinking Nissan Skyline, Toyota MR2, Honda S660 or S2000
Depending on how much room you have when your wearing a helmet you could raise your seats up a bit for even better visibility.
Skid plate for exhaust protection
Bro i could see your steering wheel rock back and forth. Idk if thats something to do with the quick release or if something is just loose but yeah
I saw that too. Was also thinking it might be the quick release.
Whats the time stamp? Maybe im looking in the wrong place but I didnt see anything with it
@@Noahh_jp 5:40 is where you can really tell
Unfortunately its something with the quick release 😕
Everything is tight and it still does it...
@@_Gingium_ use a better QR i had to ditch my nrg because it cant deal with legit use ie track and such
It looks like a mini trophy truck Awesome😀
Now let's get tdib to make a part two so this build could get even more appreciation and shine😍🔥
Hornets steal this episode lol amazing upgrades on de miata Gingium
Is the bus ok now?
Its great now! I'll have a video on it soon.
Add some sick custom rally style bumpers
I had the same struggle with my lifted s80 project where the front lifted too much with the xc70 springs (it’s a lighter non turbo engine) so I cut like 1/4 of a coil (stiffer spring than stock and longer so it was still longer than the stock spring so the ride quality did not drop) and it’s pretty level now.
Nice, those exhaust manifold tho
Badass Miata! I feel like it needs a skid plate on the front.
Dam I been watching you since you posted your first flying Miata turbo video to watch you with this off road set up you have came a Lloooooong way you made me become a youtuber as well you and TheCarPassionChannel 😂
I love this car so much but looking at the exhaust freaks me out when I think about you going off road! Looks like your about to smash that thing into the ground
To go rallying 1 thing u can do is add a handbrake to get you around those tighter turns like the hairpins
Excited for the next event
even though its a miata i think the center of gravity could still be lower by changing your wheels and tires to a smaller diameter. It whould also help with manouverability in rallycross events
Yes! This is something I really want to do.
Definitely do a front skid plate!!!!
It's rear-mid engined, but look at the stance of the Lancia Stratos HF Alitalia WRC car.
“Then I’ll give her the beans and see if I die!”
Brother nice job, but please do something about that tubes in front (exhaust). You can take the down tube and make it go up and around the upper one and you will gain hight and less uglenes. Keep up.
I miss watching your RUclips channel your RUclips channel hasn’t popped up on my feed for ever
What u should do is put a vent on the hood similar to the drift truck
Mad respect listening to Logics podcast while you work 👌
I would say take a look at the lighting. It's something you mentioned was a problem during the last event!
ik it takes away the subie rumble but i think the equal length headers would be a good idea, so you go harder at the rally cross events
What about a skid plate to go underneath the engine and transmission pans? You never know when a random huge rock will jump up, and having a thick-ish bash plate would help prevent a cracked pan.
I feel like a grill for where the hood scoop went so it can still suck with the fans and its not a big ass hole
Well done dude. 👏👏👏👏👏✊👍🤙
Right when I though the McDonalds spring situation was going to be over... the new springs end up being the same color
im not first,
im not last
but when gingium posts

That is some good poetry 😂
@@kzed4880 lol thanks
FOX needs to hook you up with some custom struts and springs
Find a dirt or grass field and do a shakedown. Test the balance of the car after your changes, before heading to an event. I think it would really pay off in the end.
You should make a video comparing the handling characteristics of the rally miata and molly
You could talk to yellow speed racing about a set up. They make wrx gravel coilovers and they make some Mazda coilovers, I just don’t know about miata gravel coilovers
idea for the hood scoop, make it like the newer subarus where it's lowered a bit into the hood, with like an intake and scoop combined?
put some coilovers on it. definitely would give you way more adjustability for each rally course.
Equal length headers!!!
You’re still running the 5 speed and r160 diff from the wrx right? Have you considered getting a rear lsd so you can get the rear end to swing out easier on loose surface conditions?
I Definitely want to do that soon but the differential is expensive.
Gingium weld it!
@@_Gingium_ Yeah at $1200 for a cusco LSD it almost makes more sense financially to save up for a used STI drivetrain which can be had for around 3k, and then you have 3 LSDs + a much stronger drivetrain + shorter closer ratios(if you get a JDM transmission)
I remember when you were gonna use the ATV/paddle tires or whatever they were called. Lol
I'm sad I never got to use those!
Need more lights lower on ther front and a skid plate
you need to do stage rally in the awd miata sometime in the future
You should make a skid plate to cover the headers

Really curious what the roll center heights are on this thing. I'm willing to bet that the front roll center was/maybe still is higher than the rear... Probably why it handles so jank

You could, in the future, try a new mod out and make sure that you like it before painting. would save you time and money
So what's next , solid front drive axle swap on the bus🤣
you need to fab a bash plate for the front
Wondering if lowering the steering rack would help
Nice
Gingium, suspension tuner.
What about the bumpers?
Put a simple vent on the hood similar to the drift truck
New in your channel great youtuber
Btw:Can you do a video with Toyota Supra ? Pls
Did you build a front skid plate yet?
You should keep your wheels the same but just step down a size or two in your tire height. Like you said, it's not a mudding car any more, it's a rally car.
So there's some hype about you not off roading it any more, that leaves room for a new build! I suggest an 80series 6bt swapped and ute chop it!
You doing okay Caleb?
Tbh most rallycross cars are pretty slammed at least in comparison to the rallymiata and personally I quite like the lower look
H3H3 fan confirmed!
please build a skid plate, it will save you money if you take a massive hit while rallying
When are you gonna make a skid plate for the front where the exhaust is?
You should wait until you drive it on the track to see how it feels there, as it is not a street car. (Steering)
You should tuck that water line at the front of the engine somehow
I'm guessing this might not be advisable if I have a manual steering rack? (I'm not Arnold Schwarzenegger).
nice
Rally cars are supposed to be low slung and wide, as far as I know honestly.
❤🔧
You need skid plate and rear bumper
Is there any "easy" way to get more of the cars power to the rear end?? That could also improve slide ability through the corners..
Dude you need some mudflaps allready!!!
To aggressive of a motor for Muddin’, me planing a 9.5:1 compression twin turbo ethanol 1,500 horse power big block ford for my truck.
