I grew up near Rochester and there's definitely a distinct vibe. The second I learned gravy grew up near me it all clicked honestly. It's just that certain TC suburb/not quite city not quite totally comfy vibe.
(Side note- I don't think it has anything to do with location it's just a coincidence but I also had a pretty rough childhood. Specifically where the circumstances forced me to grow up way too fast. It's interesting that those things were happening around the same time so close to each other.)
I have friends in rochester and i live up and duluth and honestly it clicked for me too. Must be a mn thing.
My entire paternal family is from that area. They have several farms near Lake City and Zumbro Falls, and I’ve spent many months around those parts for family functions.
I’ve been all around the country, as I have family everywhere in North Dakota, South Dakota, Nebraska, Colorado, Washington state, Nevada. The rural places around Rochester are nothing like the rural places of Nebraska or the Dakotas. Roch and yhe surrounding areas certainly have a unique vibe tbh.
