  • Hey all you Home Menders! Nothing worse than not being prepared for a trip to your local hardware store. Sure we don't have the down home, country, small-town hardware store charm, but where they lack in charm, they make up for in orange. Dustin takes us with him to the Home Depot and prepares for a job, cracked ceramic tile replacement , chocolate caulk, cart class and even how to get lunch money. You can do it!

      Hey miles always a pleasure thank you sir. If I had to do the quick math I would say 2 to 3 trips a day every week day since 2007. If I had to guess I’m looking better than 10,000 trips. you think we would’ve seen each other there by now :-)

  • @mrj-charles6383
    @mrj-charles6383 3 года назад

    The main issue in these stores is if you need help loading up a cart with plywood. No one can be found. I usually shop Lowes since more of them around me and no issues with military discounts.

      Hey Mr. J you are absolutely right. I’ve always lived next to the Home Depot so I’ve always shopped there, plus my work shirts are usually blue and people keep stopping and asking me questions while I’m in Lowe’s LOL

    Any Good or Bad suitation in your life comes because of three things, first what you think in your mind, second what you speak out to this world, third is based on your action and desires, make your thinking, speaking, action as clean as possible to make your life beautiful. 😀 Have a nice day 😃

    Is it possible to replace an entire bathroom sink while keeping the old counter and storage space under the sink? Both my faucets leak nonstop and I cannot seem to fix it so I imagine replacing it all is the answer lol

    • @homemend
      @homemend  3 года назад

      Hi bi. Yes it is. You can pull out the sink and faucet but keep the vanity. Just measure the sink and buy the same.

    General question: how to give a customer a proper proposal and estimate. I don’t do this for a living but I always wondered what would I charge the customer for my services?
    Do you have a rule of thumb that you use?

    • @homemend
      @homemend  3 года назад +1

      Hey Mick that’s a great question. I try to break it down super easy for myself. How much will it cost to do the job and how much will I be happy doing it for. It typically works out about $100 an hour on basic calls but if you’re fast and good you can probably do better than that. I hope this helps. I also have a price guide available that I use for common service calls. Shoot me an email at thehomemender@Gmail and I will get you some info :-)

      @@homemend will do brother! I’m actually a a salesman for a diesel engine distributor I handle the Kohler, Kohler marine and Yanmar product line mostly work with OEM’s and dealers but of course I am a jack of all trades. I have gutted and repaired several houses with friends that needed help after flooding and hurricanes including my moms duplex when she needed help and will really consider doing some side work once I decide to take the leap! 👍😎😬

  • @kzukiodenthechad7205
    @kzukiodenthechad7205 3 года назад

    I actually just signed up for the Pro at Home Depot..: like legit not even 2 hours ago… but the Margins for the discounts seem pretty crazy… like sure the first one starts off at $2500 a year, than $5000 and seems to double from there on out, but if it resets every year how can you expect to even get those other perks…
    Like from my understanding you get a better deals and discounts if you’re a larger company as opposed to just a handyman

    • @homemend
      @homemend  3 года назад

      Hey k. I’ve been a pro member for about 15 years and the perks are extremely minimal. You may get a $25 off or $50 off but it’s not much you can count on. The reason Home Depot works for me is there’s six of them in my city and I can buy whatever I need and take back whatever I don’t hassle free
