- I dressed up as a late Victorian for an entire week. Have you ever wondered what it’s like to wear a corset all day? Thought about wearing long skirts and aprons all day? Find out what’s its like to make and wear clothing g from the 1890s.
You must sew so fast! I can't imagine making that many pieces in such a small amount of time.

Lovely video! Very interesting to see the day to day of wearing 1890s clothing. Somehow it never occurred to me that I could have a shirtwaist with no sleeves?? So that's definitely been added to the sewing bucket list lol.
This is such an interesting video idea! I can't believe how much sewing you did in such a short amount of time. I actually really liked this video but maybe for future videos you can show your outfits in full view? They look pretty but I could only see parts of it. I would have really like to see the outfits better. :)
This is such a great idea! I plan to wear strictly 1890s clothes (corset and all) once I get to college, so it’s very interesting to have insight into another person’s experience. Your sewing projects are lovely, btw!

I totally enjoyed seeing your outfits and it’s helpful to hear how your day went wearing the garments. It’s interesting that you would sew differently for photos verses sewing for everyday wear.

I think that you could re-wear some of your outfits that week. People in those days didn't change their outfits every day.
For that matter, I don't even change my outfit every day either. It's more economical to wear the same outfit two or three times before tossing it in the wash.
People in those days didn't wash their outer clothes as frequently as we do today. Instead, they would tack white squares of hemmed fabric into the armpit of their dress or bodice and wear a fresh chemise, drawers, corset cover and petticoats daily.
So, what you want to do if you wish to dress in historical fashion regularly is concentrate on making seven days worth of undergarments and a second corset which you can alternate between. As well as those dress protector shields so that you can toss those in the wash with your whites rather than changing your outfits daily.
By the way, I don't dress historically, but I do dress in conservative modest dresses every day. So, since my clothes are expensive and harder to find, I have to do everything that I can to extend the life of my wardrobe. Everything that I wear except for my underwear is made for me by a seamstress.

Laura Ingalls Wilder, the author of the Little House on the Prairie books, said that she was always so glad to take off her corsets before she went to bed. Her mother and her sister Mary would wear their corsets to bed, and her mother disapproved that she would take them off, but she was like, whatever, I can't wear these to bed lol😊

The day 7 bathing suit made me laugh. 😂 I wasn't sure what to think of it. I suppose the bathing suit was the first time we were supposed to see your arms. My, how times have changed. Bathing "suit" was a good description of it back then, because it covers up almost as well as a suit. 😂

Ah, I think all the shirt waists are self drafted except the pink one McCalls 7732 for that one. I also used the waist band from that pattern as a guide for the belts! It’s a great late 1890s pattern.
Did you make the belt at 10:30? Its gorgeous, and if you made it from a pattern I'd love to know where you found it!
great info im actually trying to convert my wardrobe to a history bounding wardrobe so knowing I need more thn one chemise is helpful XD also logical but tends not to be something you think about

Oh my gosh, blast from the past! I forgot all about this video. Yes, I can’t believe how long it’s been but this was where I got my start a few years ago. My wardrobe and sewing skills have changed so much since I made this video.

Where do you get your patterns?
Does this means that all the « ancient styled »/historical clothes that you wear on a daily basis were made by you ? Like you never buy somewhere that type of clothing ? If you do please tell us the address 🫶
Where do you get it?
As someone who also wears historical clothing, more mediaeval in my case, as daily wear I can't agree with your actions too highly. Period clothing in general, I have found through experience, is often more comfortable than modern clothing, and that includes the undergarments.

Extreme hip and chest padding was used throughout history to give the illusion of a small waist. 1850's fashion, with its hugh sleeves and multiple petticoats also created the same small waist illusion
