This is very informative. A great lesson to help us sewing enthusiasts and actually know what to do to keep things functioning smoothly without frustration👍
The last video I watch helped me determine what was wrong with my machine...and were to adjust my tension because it was stitching on the top however making an awful mess on the underside. ...Thank you... this video is going to help keep my very old very basic machine working perfectly... Many Thanks again
SO very grateful for this video! I feel confident now that I can clean my machine and maintain it without having to spend a fortune on repairs. Thanks so much!
Thank you for your clear and informative video. I have a Bernina 1020. After a technician fixed it, I see that the needle is not exactly centered in relation to the needleplate. Can I align it myself? Bringing it to the shop is a physically cumbersome effort, with no parking in the area (I have to drag the machine by bus).
Hi Laurie, Your machine has the ability to move the needle to different positions. This adjustment is the dial/knob INSIDE the stitch width adjustment. Is it straight up and down or is it slightly turned to the side that the needle adjustment is off?
@@JackCreekRoad The dial knob is straight but the needl's center position is a hairline to the right which diminishes the wonderful precision of the Bernina machines and causes trouble when I want to see cording . I lose the snug fit of the zipper foot up against the cording.
I just bought a husqvarna 3500 electronic and went to clean it, the needle plate came off great then underneath when I undid the screws (there was heaps of lint) a curved part came off and I can't seem to get it back on correctly and now the feed dogs are not working properly. Hope you can help as I can't find the manual online anywhere. your videos are great
Hello, your video is great as well as the others. Unfortunately checking, cleaning and tuning was not enough to prevent jam. It looks like some plastic parts are too old or have cracks and the space between the bobbin holder and the upper plate has become too thin. The wire get stuck while turning around the bobbin. I fear there is no easy solution to fix it (please excuse my English from France, I am missing some technical words). I need to purchase a new sewing machine. Do you have any advice for brand and model ? You are doing great, thanks a lot.
@@JackCreekRoad Hello, Thanks for your answer. Currently, we have an ELNA Club Computer Type 500. I am looking for a machine below 400 Euros. BR Raphaël
I have a 1020 and it feels like the top tension is tight but it doesn’t change when I lower it. How would I go about checking it out? It feels tight when I pull on the top thread.
I open and clean up the machine but the foot still don't go down. Still stuck. I need to deep clean the bobbin do I need to use special tool? to do it? plus I didn't oil indide..! I would try again to open and oil to see if this time the foot get down...
Hi guys. I have a problem. My Singer sewing machine is jammed. The hand wheel don’t go either way. I cleaned the bobbing and still don’t work. Any idea what’s wrong. Thanks in advance.
I would recommend removing the needle plate, needle and bobbin case, then try turning the handwheel (Being sure not to force it.) This will tell us if it's possibly the bobbin case binding, maybe try this and report back.
I’m a beginner and just got a singer stitch sew quick 2 machine and I’m having so much trouble with it. I know you work on nicer machines but would it be possible to do a tutorial on that?

Thank you again you have given me and my sewing machine a new lease of life thank you.
Thank you, excellent advice.
Again, super helpful. Thanks so much!
Awesome - that one didn't have the "mouse" of dust and thread mine did, but sure is a realistic example.
Really helpful video, thank you.

My machine plate has screws on it (singer 2263( and a standard screwdriver is to long to fit in the space. How can I remove the plate? Thanks

It may be stuck or broken gears. Can you tell us what model you have?
Jack Creek Road thanks for answering. It’s a Singer serial 4742662E420364. Model 2662.

Please help me the machine is sewing in one place not moving
Make sure your not set to sew a buttonhole, you're feed dogs are up and that your length is greater than 0.
