  • In this video we'll show you how you can perform a simple, at home, after project "service" on your sewing machine. (This is geared towards folks with machines that use drop-in bobbins, but we'll make a separate video for front-loading machines.) This is standard, routine maintenance that should be done after every large project. This is by no means a complete service like those done at repair shops, but this type of upkeep will keep your machine in good condition.
Please leave any questions in the comment section and we'll respond as fast as we can.
    Thanks for watching!
Sorry for the shaky video at times - This was all filmed using an iPhone
These things should be available at your local sewing shop at better than online prices, but here's links incase you don't have a local shop.

Always check with your sewing machine technician if your machine calls for other maintenance or if you need help.

Thanks! Can you do a quick video on how to use the needle threader, like the one that's on this machine?

Do we have to run the machine every day.
How often to oil the machine
    When to change the needle

I would say at least once every few months if your not using it. I would only oil it if it was making a funny sound, typically not more than once or twice a year unless you sew everyday. I would change the needle after one big project or about 3-4 small projects.

I have a Viking 500 computer sewing machine and it was sewing fine. I changed the stitch to zig zag and now it won’t sew. I switched back to straight stitch and the needle stops because it is hitting something underneath the plate. What could be the problem?

Sounds like your machine is locking up.
If you follow the steps above, should sort it.
      It needs oiling.

Changing the stitch. I should have (And would recommend) being sure that your needle is up before doing so.

why I can't tight the needle screw with a screw driver ???????????

Is yours stuck? I don't recommend it because I've seen people break them off in the needle bar. This repair can get spendy and IMHO it's better off finger-tight anyways.
