60 years old living alone in my hunting camp i just put 1 drum in with 4 inch line inlet 4inch field line lower than inlet just for the toilet hope it works
They make the black plastic hose with holes on one side (face down into the soil) to leach the water, cheaper than all the piping, used buckets. You also might improve the whole thing with 3/4' or 1" PVC (color doesn't matter) one or two places to provide venting if you like. And for long term, the old outhouse still works. Move every five years depending on the depth. And yes, you could dump 1 gallon or so of diesel and burn off some of the fillings, before covering over the old hole with the soil from the new hole.
I rather put an 250 gallons tote for septic and 250 gallons Tote upside down for drainfi3ld , i would need to cut top part of tote than flip it to the ground , it willl cost problably around 120$ in materials that include both 250 gallons totes, the hard part will be the , digging .
May be a silly question but in the latitude around 40, where the ground freezes and water pipes need to be 4 feet underground, does a septic line need to be that far under ground? Does the contents of the bucket/tote, keep it from freezing?
Just so this is said ,Start the system with filling the main tank with clear water to start it so if it rains it will not float up out of the ground. You wouldn't be leave how long it would take to fill 55 gal drum with just flushing a toilet
If you are healthy and you're not using excessive bleach and you're not taking handfuls of pharmaceuticals there should be enough enzymes and bacteria in your typical excrement to eat up the solids of the excrement... Although most HOAs think that they need to be pumped every 3 to 5 years I have worked on septic systems that have not ever ever been pumped and they're still working just fine because old grandma and grandpa there eat good food don't take pharmaceuticals and their conservative in their use of bleach in their laundry
I put a mixture of yeast and brown sugar. But, I have also read that as long as you don't put chemicals in your tank the bacteria does fine on it's own. I stop flushing toilet paper down my tank after doing break up tests. Also I drain my washing machine directly onto the ground. Saved myself from a new drain field.
Never use bleach or any other harsh cleansers, and then the natural enzymes in the tank will break the solids down. Emptying becomes un-needed, or rarely needed. (Also, can’t flush women’s sanitary items.) LouiseAustralia 🦘
Why does the 90 have to breathe? Someone suggested not to have a hole on top so that poop doesn't get in from the top (clogging it) if it is very very old and tank never cleaned.
Why would you use a bucket to empty the primary tank ? Enzymes have been used for centuries to turn solid waste into liquid. Cheap to introduce and self replicating. I wouldn't think of using a bucket. That's so unnecessary.
I wouldn't use a plastic lid.... anyone or thing over a hundred pounds walking over it could get "dipped in chocolate fudge". Put up a NO WALKING SIGN over it.
He includes too many unnecessary words about the wife and other issues, Just get on with the basic requirements of a primary tank and a secondary tank and the final distribution and possibly the aeration. Use less words and better workmanship.
How does freezing weather and ground frost line affect the function of this? Will the system stop and freeze up, if it’s above the frost line, of the area?
Thank you, sir for an informative and entertaining video! This is very helpful.

Hows it holding up?
Good lm still flushing
Great explanation, man. I don't recommend breaking that system down with "solids" already in the tank tho'. 👍🏾

This is how my grandfather built his over 70 years ago except he used a steel drum instead of a plastic one.

I was a plumber now I can make me one for dirt cheap thanks
Sir Thankyou for the great idea, please can you do some videos at the end of 50 gallon drum and explain more?
"Can't dump sewage" but, you can chit and piz anywhere you want... Smart
Another question. On your half tanks.... is the schedule 40 3in have slots or holes or T's in the middle of each chamber?
Could you use the perforated pipe that is half perforated with the holes sticking down? Would you have to worry about holes between the chambers?

Is that a coupling used to fit the first downpipe into the first overdlow tank?
Awesome economical easy to install design.
Outstanding upload 🙏
The solids will eventually plug the bottom of the vertical outlet piping and the liquids won't be able to make its way out.
just like any septic, regular pumping is required. I have my septic pumped every 3 years.

@@iveneverhadabadday Drain the wash machine to the ground.
Nothing is said about putting some yeast into the system to help eat up the solids. Just a thought 💭.

Did you put rock under any of the overflow tanks?
No it's a gravel less system similar to commercially available systems.
Bloody good one mate I got it 64 kiwi bushman
With this particular system and a household of 4, how often do you think this would need to be pumped or cleaned out manually?

Awesome, thanks. Simple and effective. It's just what I need for my trailer in Ukraine for when the Russian invaders come marauding!
How do you get rid of the sludge in the first tank?
Septic tank pump truck or you use a sewage pump to empty it into a portable holding tank and take it to the nearest RV dump station in a campground.
...."HUH?"....😂
Where I am from, we use cement to make those drums. Lasts forever, lol.

health codes apply to everyone including poor people.

You would want to be under frost line
He talks to much about nothing and not the product
Yeah, but the design is brilliant.
This guy repeats himself so much, I had to shit three times before the video ended. He could have shorten this video by at least 20 minutes.
what the shit ?
Don't even waste your time with this BS septic system
