I love how Ash CORRECTLY predicted like 90% of *those* scenes (bathtub, vampire, grave) but he grew more pissed off each time he was proven right. 😂
Lmao
Assumption: He wasn’t pretending and hadn’t researched or watched prior. Poor acting is a tough sell… but hey, let’s pretend 🤣🤣🤣
@@daveygee434 I've not seen the movie but knew about every single one of those because of social media and just work colleagues. Ash acting like mystic meg when he knew exactly what was gonna happen 😂
@@mrtibbz10nah I watched this movies and called each instance as well, if you have an understanding or dark impulses. Your mind instantly finds the worst possibility. Especially with all the cues the movie had.
I knew all the twists before seeing it because...spoilers.
“This film doesn’t deserve my symbolism.” 😂😂
Bro this couple is the only ones I like to watch for reactions Ash is funny af and she compliments him well and can deal with his crazy ass statements whenever he sees a dog hurt he snaps and she jus loves him too
I need that on a t-shirt!!!!😂
I actually love the fact that Hannah loved the film despite gagging so many times🤣🤣🤣
"Judging by the number of jumpers, we're in Oxford." lmao
This is the best thing I have heard in weeks. I don't need the rest of the reaction.
What are jumpers? Is that slang?
jumpers is the british term for sweaters.@@ct6852
@@ct6852jumper is basically just the british term for a sweater:)
@@rebekahalvarez4341 Oh thank you. I thought maybe it meant stressed out and suicidal.
@@ct6852 STOP HAHAHAH
Notice all the SYMBOLISM that he's a vampire: blood on mouth, power of persuasion, breaking the mirror, had to be invited to go inside, shapeshifter, etc
Nice catch!
I feel like such an idiot. And I’m obsessed with vampires!
I didn't catch any of that. Makes sense.
EXACTLY!!!!!!!
This is true but in the movie he isn’t supposed to be seen as an actual vampire
Ash laughing his ass off at the bath tub scene like if it’s a Jackass scene😭🤣🤣
It probably was, but even MTV found it to be too vulgar and gross, which says a lot about that channel's low standards, even back when it was a 24/7/365 music video network.
So we’re just gonna ignore the Ash in uni montage?? This reaction is now lore.
When he predicted the bath water and Hannah lost it I couldn’t BREATHE 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Ash is bizarrely in sync with the people who made this movie...
I just knew it's gonna be a lot of "daddy chill" moments in this reaction 🤣
34:01 Ash was so pissed he started looking like Robert De Niro lmao
lmao yeah 😂
Ash's first 2 remarks "I think he murdered him, some serial killer type shit" and "why is everything so sexual in this film?" --- Nailed it!
Then another: "it doesn't feel natural, the film is just doing this for shock factor" --- Indeed!
I feel like Ash wanted to drink some of that bath water and that’s why he knew 🤣🤣
When Rosemund Pike shows up the movie gets great. The symbolism is HEAVY.
The symbolism is “ so lovely and dry “..
“I could have fixed him” -Hannah about Henry VIII
I love how Ash called like every twist and f*cked up scene in the whole movie 😂
Love the honesty. Too many reaction channels say they like everything
You either love the film or you hate…it’s a the very definition of a polarizing film. I’ve seen other equators absolutely hate it just as ash. And then others who loved it based on how well shot and acted it is.
I did not like this movie at first but time has changed my mind, Brilliantly acted and beautifully filmed and quite a story where no characters are redeemable. Your reactions are making me laugh and Ash's sexual intuition is disturbingly accurate.
It's an awful movie...
i had the same thing, it’s like it had to sit in my brain for a while for me to realize i liked it lol.
@@saltybulldog3241Learn to differentiate between a movie showing awful things and a movie actually being awful.
I get that not everyone likes this movie because it's very extreme, personally I loved it, but I think people are misunderstanding some of it. I don't think Oliver wanted the house or the money, what he really wanted is to be as loved as Felix is, to have the same type of influence he has by making everyone like him. But he doesn't have the natural kindness and charm that Felix has, so he has to do it by manipulation instead.
Also drinking the bathwater (as disgusting as it was) is the biggest symbolism of all!!! He was literally drinking Felix's DNA to try and absorb it to become more like him.
Yeah it's not good story telling no matter how you go about it. Hahaha it's pretty bad man.
Sorry, but to "drink someone's bathwater" is a legit saying. I'm 61, and it's been around for as long as I can remember. It just means thinking someone is so hot you'd do anything for them.
We all overthink things at times. As far as looking for deeper meanings, it was a good try.
The last bit of the movie after he was kicked out of Saltburn was undeniably messy which is why people have trouble understanding the underlying themes and motivations so much.
@@isabeljimenez6067 yeah Obviously it was sexual but I also think there was something else going on. Both can be right lol
No, the movie wasn't extreme. It tried too hard to be profound and it failed miserably. It was a terrible film.
I’ve also been obsessed with Barry Keoghan since this came out 🤣 what a strange sexy little man 🤣
Im Irish and thought he was cool cause he was Irish but after this film i know see that this Dude is so damn talented and there is nothing he wont do😂..Those scenes with his victims were he manipulates them are so damn intense...he will win an Oscar one day but maybe for something less disgusting😂
He's great in "The Killing of a Sacred Deer".

@@zombiesingularity its on my watchlist 🙂
Don't watch season 3 of top boy then! You'll be heartbroken 😂
I knew Hannah would appreciate it more.
I'm with Ash on this one
Dammit!! If Ash was a detective, he's be arresting criminals for what they're thinking about. GREAT REACTION!!
I actually completely agree with Ash. It’s a film that shocks and has nothing important let alone genuine to say. It’s a GOOD movie don’t get me wrong, but it’s missing a deeper substance beyond its aesthetic.
It’s very superficial , surface level.
Totally agree. This movie wanted to be Anthony Minghella's ''The Talented Mr Ripley', which deals in the same subject matter, but is actually a good film.
Hannah gagging on one side while Ash laughs hysterically and claps his hands on the other is such amazing asymmetry in a reaction 😂
*with clear discomfort* " i dont know, i feel like everyone is sexual in this" coming from Mr. daddy chill himself lol
I feel like the person who recommended Saltburn to you guys either genuinely liked the movie, or just suggested it to piss you off the way it did. More than likely the first option, but we can't rule anything out. 💜
Some of both I'd assume. But there are plenty that did genuinely like it.
This film is genius, the script is incredible, the actors kill it..Barry Keoghan is intense and insane...The exploration of a Psychopath and mastery manipulation is just too good..The Cinematography, production..is incredible...Its gross, so damn sick but watching this character and his plan unfold especially at the end is scary and funny in a horrible way....Its not for everyone but if u can look past these scenes after and how disgusting they are, u can see they are there to show how deranged and depraved he is and the murders and plans are believable, otherwise u would find his actions ridiculous...Sorry it wasnt for u guys but it is what it is..
@@garydodd2837I mean people are allowed to have opinions bruv lol don’t act all superior
I think it was recommended for the symbolism.
Even if the person liked the movie, recommending it to Ash was 100% a troll job.
From Ash’s reaction, I actually think he’s into this but trying to hide it by being disgusted. He predicted every single scene ahahaha
Or he was disgusted
Or it was predictable, empty, and boring lol
because he did all that in 2012 XD
Yeah eh, me too

This feels like The Matrix.
I liked that it went completely off-piste halfway through. I don’t try to second-guess plot twists so I enjoyed the twist and finding out Oliver had planned this all from the very start- before he even met Felix. And I very much enjoyed him dancing through the house. 😊
The thumbnail I’m dead
I’m seriously worried and concerned about Ashkan, and the fact that he knew Ollie would drink the bath water!!!!
Fun fact the "math genius" guy plays Aemond Targaryen in House of the Dragon.
Yeah and I watched this before binging house of the dragon and obviously they’re two completely different characters but still I should’ve noticed without someone telling me😂

I‘m so happy you guys reacted so negatively to the grave scene cause it literally was just there for shock value. It was not necessary at all
This is one of the most polarizing movies I can recall in recent memory. Either people love it or hate it. There’s really no in between. I thought the acting was brilliant, the cinematography beautiful and the story intriguing.
Agreed.
The cinematography was incredible. Like an art history class.
I found it to be an incredibly interesting , layered piece of art.
I prefer the many films this one ripped off.
“The Talented Mr Ripley” most of all.
Personally I thought this was a masterpiece of a movie. Disgusting and polarising yes but I’m definitely on the side of love it. I can certainly see why others will hate it though
@@KrazyKat007 I actually coincidentally watched those back to back without knowing how similar they are. I had The Talented Mr. Ripley on my watch list for 2 years before Saltburn even came out, as I was watching it more and more things were lining up which kept surprising me. I think Saltburn is stunning visually but it does have some pitfalls plot-wise
You thought a dude licking bath tub was "intriguing". Cinema is dead.
Glad Hannah enjoyed it! This movie was fantastic!
Oliver just happened to be the perfect predator that the family was completely unprepared for. They were so used to people latching on to them for their money, like Farleigh, who had his hooks in just as tight, even claiming that all of it belonged to him, but the difference between the two was that Oliver wanted it all with no one to share it with!
Also, Ash putting EEAAO in the category of bad movies is 🤯🤯🤯
A commenter said he would have loved the movie if Farleigh was in on it at the end.
He spoke against EEAAO? 😳 BLASPHEMY.
Just started watching.
Watch The Talented Mr Ripley instead.
I genuinely find joy in watching Ash’s face when he sees something he finds absolutely hilarious. Especially if it’s something “shocking” that he finds funny. 😂
How can Ash handle Jackass, but not this. Jackass series did heinous things for real?!
Agree, jackass is 100% irredeemable. Ruining REAL lives but he’s pearl clutching over Saltburn?. FFS! 🙄
haha literally, also evil dead where it had tongues being cut in half, they overreacted for this one i think.
Definitely overreacted and likely heard about it/read negative reviews prior to this reaction.
I think it's because he knows what he will get with Jackass. He's expecting it. With Saltburn? Not really. Because it's drama and not a comedy-type-of-thing, Ash doesn't like it, hahaha. Or so I think.
One I just commented the same thing 😂
This is the closest I will ever come to watching this movie.
So happy i didnt waste time watching the rest of this movie. I watched half and turned it off. And i very rarely start a movie without finishing. I just felt like the story and character building was lacking. I agree with Ash 100%. That being said, i really enjoyed this reaction. Hahaha 👍🏻
Kind of seems like you’re Ash’s Oliver, tepid bath water anyone?

I’m totally with Ash on this one. Saltburn seemed like a film they were really gunning for an Oscar nomination for, and I’m glad they didn’t get it. It had a superb cast, score, and was filmed beautifully, but the plot just didn’t deserve praise in my opinion. Oliver’s perverse actions weren’t backed up with any complexity or motivation. We had very little backstory on him. And none of the other characters picked up the complexity slack. I agree with Ash that the goal of this film seemed like it was just to be shocking.
Facts.
It wasn’t released in time to get on the Oscar nomination list this year, will probably get nominated next year
About that intro: No judgment on individuals/couples who are more reserved but watching you two interact over the personal, mundane stuff of life with such freedom, openness & obvious love & support for each other is a sheer delight, a beautiful thing to experience. In stark contrast to this movie... 😄
It amazes me how Ash was on point the entire time. He truly is a master of symbolism.
Duncan is Saltburn. He sees everything and he serves the masters of Saltburn, but he isn't allowed to meddle or interfere. That would be overstepping his bounds.
This was a psychological horror film. I gotta disagree with Ash here though - the shocking scenes were calculated and each had a purpose. It was a slow reveal of Oliver's true character. The bathtub scene was obsession - we saw how obsessed he was with Felix and maybe even a bit kinky. Then after that we started to see the manipulation - the period blood scene and then him lying to Felix about what happened, the situation with Farleigh. That's when we start to realize maybe's not just a nerdy boy in love, but actually a manipulator. Then we find out he's lied when they go to his parents and we start to realize something's very wrong with him. By the time we get to the grave scene we can see that he's a full on psychopath. I mean no normal person does that, right? Something's wrong upstairs. Oliver was a sociopath and this is slowly revealed, layer by layer through each of these shocking moments. It's actually quite brilliant how they did that.
He seemed so shy and nervous at the beginning though. It didn't really fit the profile of a sociopath.
@@ct6852 key point - "seemed"
He wanted to seem like a shy and nerdy guy because that's what felix liked.
He was lying from the beginning. He's not even pathological liar because he is so calculative with the lies.
@@HRLastro Damn he'd have to be pretty perceptive to know that's what he would respond to.
@@HRLastroWell we know he’s a pathological liar from start to finish. He might be both.
He wasn’t a sociopath because he wasn’t loathed from a broken life. He’s a psychopath for seeking attention and acceptance.
It's like a horror movie that's 100% cheap jumpscares and has a plot that's all about how scary the villain (who kills everyone) is, with no other points or insights added. There's a lot of movies out there like that, and I hate them for the same reason.
And speaking of horror movies, Farleigh and Duncan are the final people!
I have been waiting for this you two 😂😂😂❤
OMG!!! that intro...I can just imagine Ash sitting there and Hannah exfoliating the hell out of that scalp 😂 you guys are the best! ❤
🤣 agree!! and the "sitting there like a baby" I could 100% see it LOL
Love that y'all reacted to this 🤣😂🤣😂👏👏👏👏👏... You Guys Are Sooo Cute Together 🥰🥰🥰
LOL. Thank you, Ash. I was starting to think I was the only one. Personally, I didn't find anything all that shocking about this (I read a lot). Unfortunately, that only draws more attention to the trash fire plot. Some nice camerawork, but a great-looking turd is still a turd.
👏
Quite a few RUclipsrs dislike it, though perhaps for varying reasons. Yhara Zayd and Broey Deschanel spring to mind.
“What was in that bath water” 😂😂😂
Man, it's a problem of the weather 100%, in Barcelona always happens to me, In Bangkok, never. You can move, 😂
32:50 - My thoughts exactly, Ash, which is why I couldn't get into it. I literally said, "He's going to do something outrageous like f*ck the grave, isn't he?".... and then he did. The movie tried to be so unpredictable/shocking, that I it became predictable.
i think it wanted to be shocking my enough for it to seem unpredictable, but not genuinely unpredictable
The point of it is to be expected, but hoping he's not going to.
@@HScreecHC But you know he's going to, so it is predictable.
@@imaspoon4522 that's what I said yes. It's supposed to be uncomfortable not predictable. The fact that this scene is predictable just shows the character development. You think of him as a victim at first who's got invited just to be taken advantage of, and by the end you expect him to do the most fucked up stuff
Yes and it’s not even about the shocking things for me. It’s moreso about how smart it’s think it’s being when the story comes across as thrown together. Why does the audience not get to see Oli’s other side, so much relied on Jacob Alordi being a good person and helping Oli. what if he was not such a kind person? It just does not flow well. The payoff was poor because it comes out of nowhere
I’m still hoping for the doctor sleep reaction
Y’all’s story at the beginning of the video has topped all of your intro stories. There was no reason to describe your head poking out of the water 🤣🤣🤣 so funny guys omg
Wait, Ash hated EEAAO...? Aw man! That's one of my all-time favs! It hits way harder when you have a daughter. Someday Ash gotta re-watch ❤
AGREE!! I literally JUST recommended EEAAO to someone and their kid like 2 days ago!! LOL
I loved it as well... but maybe it's a good thing he didn't like it? I loved it because it reflected the guilt/shame/love/codependency of my relationship with my mom so well. Not exactly healthy/happy.
LOVED this film, watched it as soon as it came out because barry keoghan 🤤 but i see where ash is coming from, he couldn't connect with the movie because none of the characters were relatable and there was nothing for him to grab onto. i personally love films that analyse and make fun of real life issues; in this case, it was the bubbles rich people live in and how they can be blind to things due to sheer narcissism and poshness. DUNCAN AND FARLEIGH WERE ONTO OLIVER THE ENTIRE TIME, but no one listened because "oh you're being ridiculous, he's our charity case"
Soooo wrong. It's about his sick little manipulation games, and then some ridiculous shock value Seens with no backstory or reasoning for his actions. It's 💩
Truly one of the films of our generation... Godless
Never fails to make me laugh tell my boy Koda I said “woof woof” he will know what it means trust me

Less than a minute in and Ash correctly predicts the twist
When Felix found out Oliver was lying, he should have left him at his parents house. Then the Dad asks him to leave and he refuses? He would have come up missing. These people weren't suspicious enough.

Yay the moment I've been waiting on no neck Hannah and one of my favorite movies of all time Saltburn 2023 best day ever symbolism
Ash, you and Hannah should watch the 2023 film 'Poor Things' it's another 'weird' film from 2023, but in comparison to 'Saltburn' its much better, intelligent and it didn't feel like a waste of time for me like 'SB'. Poor Things is a mix of four genres: comedy, sci fi, coming of age, and alternative history; a very sexual but good film, in my opinion! P.s. Poor Things is also based on a comic book/graphic novel.
Was just debating renting that. Is it worth the $6 or just wait until it hits a streamer?
FINALLY!! I thought I was the only one that found this movie upsetting! The graveyard scene was TOO MUCH and to find out he improvised it was just more annoying.. it’s a funny weird and disturbing movie that I would watch once and never again!
I don’t understand how ash likes jackass, that is 10x more gross and it’s actually real?!?! This movie really isn’t that bad, yall have watched way more heinous and gore filled films.
The movie tells the story poorly
Correction to the nice person above me.. The movie tells the story fucking terribly only thing that made it a movie and not a sticky fanfic some loser wrote is a fancy camera and music.
You two are the cutest freaking couple.
Honestly...I never actually thought it would have been the grave scene that killed it...I am actually genuinely surprised how strong a reaction that provoked. But then I always have to remind myself that I have seen ALOT worse...so when I first saw the scene, it didnt really phase me. Literally, my honest first reactions were "That's an odd thing to do", followed by "Wouldnt that hurt?"...but it certainly didn't make me feel disgusted/offended enough to want to turn it off 🤷🏼♂️
Agreed. Think my reaction was whoa....that's fucked up. Nothing more.
Once you've seen the August Underground films...Saltburn might as well be a kids movie! Mordum in particular has literally the worst thing I have ever seen in a film...to the point that I wish I could actually unsee it 😨

I honestly still find the film enjoyable, even with how much it tells too much at the end, especially after I've seen reactions from people who genuinely didn't see the ending coming.
It's pretty much The Talented Mr. Ripley in 2006.
(Michael wanting to be Oliver's friend was kind of a warning looking back.)
In every reaction video, Ash will say that something horridly outrageous is about to happen in the movie, which he obviously thinks wont happen because it'd be so disgusting. I find it hella funny that every time he predicted something like this in Saltburn (and was correct), he is genuinely horrified and starts tweaking out 😂😂
I enjoyed your reaction or in Ash's case overreaction 😂 I feel like you tapped out after the bath scene dude but never really gave it a chance from the get go.
Personally I didn't feel scenes were created purely for shock value. I feel like the only truly shocking scene was the grave scene & it was integral to the film. I think if you find Saltburn shocking you need to watch more films honestly. Open your mind a bit. The fact that Saltburn provoked you both in such a strong way says to me it did a great job. Hannah especially, you didn't let me down. I knew you would appreciate it for the direction, great acting, originality etc.

I’m with Hannah here🙋🏼♂️It was interesting to see how much the character of Oliver made Ash despise him and the whole movie. Really unexpected, but I guess he pressed on some precise nerve for Ash. Loved the movie myself and thought that it had a LOT of substance in it to enjoy from.

It’s not purely shock because there’s people actually out there who would do that for people they stalk. Grown men buy influencers bath water ffs 🤣

I think Ash couldn't handle being a girl/woman and half the weird shit men do in name of their obsession or longing.
Or maybe that's why he doth protest to much. He seemed to be able to predict it.
