    The chorus of Take Me Far Away (Kadomatsu Toshiki) also has the exactly same progression as Remember Summer Days (Anri), which is the 2nd progression in the video! :D

    ちなみに角松敏生さんの「Take Me Far Away」のサビも動画内2つ目の進行のRemember Summer Days (杏里さん)のサビと全く同じコード進行です。

    I think I like the 2nd one most of all, it's so unique because of the tension and release caused by the diminished chord. By the way I love the disclaimer you posted at the beginning of the video.

      Andrew-san :) I 100% agree with what you mean. That diminish chord makes the flow interesting and cool.

    I like to think of bII-dim7 as a rootless VI-7b9. Dim7 and maj7 voicings are so handy on guitar because you can replace just about every chord in a progression with one or the other.

      Hi Nico-san :). Yes exactly! Ⅳ and ⅱ are pretty much the same and have the same function. I still love the flow of 2516 etc. :) thank you for watching my videos too. Have a great week!

    • @Remour
      @Remour 2 года назад +1

      @@SoraSatoh It’s a wonderful chord progression, and offers a lot of room for substitution as you showed in the video. What I’m curious about, is whether you see the progression as tonicizing the relative minor of the chosen key, as you have a minor perfect cadence to the “vi” (C: Emin-Amin).
      J-pop, and a lot of music from japan seems to follow this in between of the relative minor and major tonal center, which The royal road progression encapsulates that perfectly, which is why that movement from the iii-vi feels almost “dark” in tone.

      And this is just on its own. Following the progression with a ii-V-I can quickly remind the viewer that we haven’t fully switched to the relative minor, and that the tonal center is the relative major of the minor.

    • @SoraSatoh
      @SoraSatoh  2 года назад +1

      @@Remour That's a very interesting thought! I personally feel ⅵ in 2516 or 3625 as a passing chord approaching to ⅱ, than being a tonic minor chord. But it may be just how I personally feel.
      I agree with what you wrote. It's true that iii-vi feels almost “dark” in tone.
      Interesting insight! :)

    Great comic sense & snacks to help the music theory go down. My only suggestion is to maybe remix the guitar demos - they seem rather soft and muffled compared to the spoken parts. Keep it up!

      Hi Sam-san :) thank you for comment! True! A lot of people use the same/similar chord progressions more or less (not just in CityPop) but they put their own tastes! :) ok. I may make more videos about chords, as that’s the topic I love. :)

    I'm a little bit confused. The chord progressions you show us are in c major? Do they work in a minor key as i tried to do it but it sounded so off. Do the chord progressions only work in major? For instance i tried the just the two of use one and it worked in d major but not d minor

    • @SoraSatoh
      @SoraSatoh  Год назад +1

      You need to use relative minor key. In the case of C Major, you need to use A minor. www.simplifyingtheory.com/relative-minor-scale-major-chords/
