Good call going with the increased pan and not just tossing on an oil cooler immediately. That extra oil capacity increases the thermal mass of the oil so you get an immediate benefit there. I'll be interested to see what your oil temperatures look like after the pan and increased oil capacity.
Was thinking about the same thing. What made you choose the competition over the street if only pushing about 350 like you said? is the extra 100 bucks for competition really worth it
I got it for a very discounted price (way less than street) I do a fair amount of big track so its not the power but the g forces it experiences. I can also swap the windage tray later on if it causes issues.
@@LifeFlatout ahh gotcha. I was thinking about the street kit for the pan pick up and tray for my sti still stock but I’m doing reliability mods before i start modding
@@ezimm81 I’d say this would be a reliability mod. I’ve killed two engines from extended time on track. I’ll be logging oil temp and pressure next to determine if I need to do an external thermostat oil cooler.
I have a killerbee superG installed on my Modded 2018 STi and my oil temps is around 216 on a 93 degree california summer. Btw I have aem oil/pressure sensor on my car :)
Yeah, some guys do but it gets affected by the heat soak in the block itself. Guys like killer B recommend measuring it in the sump and then take into consideration that it'll be hotter in the motor. It cycles at a really high flow rate in EJs too.

I'm subscribed, but got no notification. So now I'm here, hoping the youtube algorithm notices me 🤣
i purchased the same set up as you for my brand new ej207 ra spec c short block ! well worth it !
How’s your ej207 running?
Very nice, i got their oil pick up, cant wait until i install it
I just picked up the street pan kit so I can run grimmspeed headers
Ah man, watching you tighten those bolts down without the torque wrench was sooo scary 😆
That’s off camera boring stuff
@@LifeFlatout haha okay 👍
Let us know if that oil pan gasket holds up
7,700 klm no leaks yet .
if oil temp was the issue, is an oil cooler on the way?
Figuring that out still. For now factory one is going on.
How much taller is that pan over stock? Does it hang below the front subframe?
1/2” roughly it is still above the subframe

@@LifeFlatout yea I’m trying to decide it competition is a little over Lill I’m gonna keep my car on the street
Very informative video. tyvm!
I had that those engine mounts on my hawkeye sti

How is your engine holding up after this install?
Made it 3k lol put engine in sold it to buy a Honda haven’t had an issue since lol
@@LifeFlatout yeah nothing runs like a Honda ! I just can't deal with fwd cars anymore .
@@jozeccav123 I can either so I got an s2000 Haha
Wisconsin gang
oil temp sensor should be on top block galley plug. You want to be reading your oil temp at it hottest point, not its coldest

Yeah I dont get the runner either why don't you just close it off and add fins like killer bee did
Could you explain your question a little?
Are you in WA?
Nope WI
That moment u just replaced your first ej257 and didn't replace your oil pick up fml...
Instructions don’t ask you to use the washers on the pickup
Just weld the spacers on.
