I’ve been obsessed with flying since I was a kid and a few years back a came across a rather popular paramotor video that got me hooked on wanted one. JDM EJ205 Swapped GC8 Cant Handle Three Days of Racing and Drifting
Couple of tips: Fly with more power and keep your hands higher except for the flare right before landing. Flying in deep brakes keeps you close to the stall point which breaks things when it happens close (<50ft) to the ground. You also want hands up to have more energy for the flare when coming in to land. Also, never too late to get training. I "self taught" speed flying with some friends. After a few years and seeing a bunch of injuries - one friend with a broken back and one dead - I finally took the hint and got training. If not, try to meet and fly with other paragliders. They'll give you advise as you progress and might keep you from a simple error that would put you in the ER. Cheers & good luck.
This video was my last flight before training. Been meaning to do a video on the two paths to go.
@@flatlinedetonation Right on. I guess I didn't check to see it was 2 years ago. Would be an interesting video. Who did you end up training with?
Hi bro i hope you reply my messege about the k24a2 or k24a which one is good power
A2 is best
ngl I was wondering if I reeeeally need the training after selling my skydive rig to get a PPG. You've convinced me I do.
Haha yeah there’s a lot of what ifs training teaches you
Why would you go from carbery to cobb? Emissions reasoning? Cant you force pass emissions readyness on carbery? Or are you sponsored by cobb?
Car very ran great street wise. Cold starts sucked. Tuner for that wasn’t super helpful for carberry either. This was before Cobb got forced to keep emissions so it worked really well.
Is it wrong to say i only watch ir vids to sometiems look at the ass end of ur Z car 🙈😂😂
🤣🤣🤣 haha nope she was a good lookin car
So was it always rod bearing, big end failures?
Yes
Sick. Gonna get me a PPG.
@5:21 Iss a boiiii, ROFLMAO. I'll be at ASM 8/21 for an k-swap boosted s2k health check :)
Im gonna do it. Hopefully
They put bigger wheel in turbo? How much mm?
I have a killerbee superG installed on my Modded 2018 STi and my oil temps is around 216 on a 93 degree california summer. Btw I have aem oil/pressure sensor on my car :)
Thanks man this is a 3 love ryt
You went from no training and lack of confidence. Too totally owning it! Props!!!
is not about the training you did good just run and don't jump in the seat to early always wait for that sinking time always happens even in the best moment, you doing great fly safe. check take off 101 in aviator and landing 101 in aviator too, you will get much feel with what the instructor explain.
That's funny, I'm the one that sold you the taillights 4 years ago 😆thanks for the shoutout!
anyone know how to block off the left side lines for the preexisting secondary turbo?
Some good detail, thanks.
What transmission did you use with it?
Hit the playlist watch button you’ll learn a ton from this build
Do you fly with with reserve?
99% of the time I’m flying low and it wouldn’t help. I do have one though that I’ll use if I try any acro
This channel is the epitome of NASIOC
Don’t buy this kit chase will 100% not send you the part you need if they mess up. They sent me poorly assembled AN lines and they didn’t own up to it at all
Thanks for sharing your experience, hopefully others will be put off doing similar. I was a Paramotor pilot for ten years and will just reiterate that this sport is extremely unforgiving due to negligence or complacency. As you demonstrated its not worth the risk, that could have easily ended up in a much worse situation.
Is the lower hose from the Z or the Caravan?
From the z
Who did you get that hard top from, Joel? That is a lot of FTD stickers lol
Haha yup slowly earning each one
Too bad the K24 doesn't have that character of the F20, but hey it's a great engine!
Just do the top of a k20 oil pump and 50vtc and you have what has way more torque than a f but revs the same
Awesome, great engines ! There is a reason why they are cheap, because they never fail 🤷♂️🤣
The reward on this swap is nothing but your valuable time...
I mean and the fact the car is still running and on the road haha
@@flatlinedetonation More power to you.. We need more Legacy's on the road..
As a pro rated skydiver who had over 2000skydives and a commercial pilot license and a paraglider(not paramotor) I did zero training and still broke shit learning to take off. By just buying it and sending it. The amount of money I spent on new propellers spars etc would have paid for training. Having said that… SEND IT BRAWH
I know I might be kicking a dead horse here… but I’m currently about to drop an LS6 into my 240Z, and I’m wondering if my oil pan will clear? 😒 Same motor from a Corvette/CTS-V, and I’ll be running the T56 that came with it.
C5 corvette pan is best option. Not the bat wing style though.
@@flatlinedetonationAwesomesauce, thank you so much for the response! I believe the stock LS6 pan is the same between C5/C6 Vettes (same basic block too). Dirty Dingo sent me plain steel mounts instead of the powdercoated, so they are swapping them out, then I can test fit. 🤞🏻 That the pan clears it all. I was gonna do the Apex Track Attack front kit, but heard lots of negative things about it, so I’m going T3 instead.
@BlackwaterDSM yup I would avoid that kit. Was suppose to do a heavy discounted deal and install that on my car and show it works and never happed after asking months and months to get it coming. I kinda see why now.
@@flatlinedetonationThere’s numerous videos of people having nothing but problems. Especially for the price… $10k for front and rear kit. No thanks!
@@BlackwaterDSM price tag is very reasonable if it worked but unfortunately it doesn’t so yes very expensive paper weight

9:30 into the video and I'm biting my tongue. If you're going to self train then at least ensure that you have watched every video under the sun and understand what causes accidents. The amount of brake you had applied for the duration of take off could have cause a significantly worse full stall. I'm not a ballsy guy, I got paragliding training then self taught paramotor launches after 12 hours of paraglider air time. You have to be smart about these things or serious damage can occur.
Where did you get your 12v switched while cranking?
Just used factory wiring for starter. Ecu I think I had to battery or found a constant to fuse box.
awesome man, I'm k swapping my bmw e30 318i. I have everything planned out but the one thing I'm concerned about is the vibrations people seem to have with a rwd k24, do you have any info on that? like you said the balance shaft is what counter acts the vibrations. I'm just not sure if its counter able when you remove the shaft and make it rwd.
Make sure to use lock tight on everything and get a hood fluid damper
@@flatlinedetonation perfect, i’ll make sure i do that
@@flatlinedetonationwhat’s a hood fluid damper??
Way to learn, with mistakes! 👊
That just goes to show you how much break you can pull and still fly. Regardless, that is scary and you are very lucky. Either way good job.
Haha yeah I don’t think I’ve pulled that much since even on a power on landing 🤣
Thanks for the insight ! Im considering going honda K24 too ! My VER1 JDM wrx blew its headgasket last week (second time in 5 years 🤷♂️🤦♂️) and honestly after owning 8 Turbo Subarus I think im finally walking away from them... 😢😂 Ive just got to the point where im not enjoying the EJ anymore. I have an old honda prelude (H22) which im considering k24 swaping now!
No regrets here! I’ll take non stop beating 217 na whp over 280 and always broken
@@flatlinedetonation absolutley ! I mean even the more modern platforms like the VW R/B58 BMWs are pushing 400hp+ on stock internals and it does make you wonder whether our expensive subaru hobby gives us much bang for the buck haha
hey man was wondering if you know where i can buy the plugs for the sti cluster online? been searching and haven’t had much luck, cheers
iWire probably has them other wise have to find a part out
Right on good sir. I loved this. I’m a gambler too and this is exactly how I plan on learning, so your video is very comforting and inspiring to know that I’m not alone. I specifically looked for this cause I am soon taking flight. Long live the gamblers🎲. Wish me luck or a swift death😂
Still had a fist full of A's on the first face plant, gotta let them go. Hands up once off the ground, you were close to stall most of the second flite but otherwise you made it up and down good work
🙌😝 I'm gonna be doing the same thing! Ive watched enough RUclips videos to be 50% confident in my ability to learn on the go!😅😂
Rip
@@Bang-tidy It can't be that difficult?!
lol dont mind the rubber sprayed rear fenders

Legends never die my friend 😅
SO glad you beat the odds! You crazy MF xD@@flatlinedetonation
how long did this one last?
About the same as the rest ha surprise it didn’t break a rod just rolled another bearing doing big track stuff
@@flatlinedetonationIts said that the limit of the 205 is about 300bhp. 450-500bhp on the 207
@endrestadaudun that’s what I’ve always been told but I’m sure it’s just like k24’s if you ramp on power nicely you an push the limit further
You completely glossed over the lack of engine mounts on that ej255 5th gen engine, lol. They have mounts coming off the transmission rather than the typical ej25 mounts...so yeah it wont just drop right in by changing a few things. I guess the heads, intake, and exhaust could be considered "a few things". These ej255s were great for torque compared to the standard mount turbo.
Usdm mounts will bolt up but that’s kinda the least of people problems to over come. Some one did put on in a Forster xt using these heads and it worked but definitely not a straight forward swap like most jdm substitutes
Isn’t the jdm ej205 with avcs the only one with higher compression compared to non avcs
Nope have had multiple apart all high comp besides maybe 207 never messed with one of those
@@flatlinedetonationinteresting, I’m ordering my motor probably next week or so do you have any recommendations with places I could go to? Preferably cali the shipping is lots cheaper
@@UGKsta usually eBay is when I get mine. Sometimes I’ll use the supplier we get k24’s through but they are east coast I believe
Where did you get the jdm mirrors ???
Someone local had them
I have 2 hatch wrx i need to revive. Ej255 almost matching. 2006 and 2008. I want to do an affordable swap on both. 2008 i hit a deer 😢 a very small knock. 2006 i got with a gasket solution time bomb. Maybe worth a resurface. It almost makes sense to buy 2 motors. All i have in experience is clutch swaps. Subscribed!
