I fancy west ham for a top 6 finish, I really hope us (villa) newcastle and west ham really keep our boots on the "big sixes" throats and we move into a new future
The money we (West Ham fan) have spent and and the quality of player we’ve brought in should warrant a top 6 prediction but I would be happy with a really good cup run and a top 10 finish. Don’t think many realise just how competitive the prem is now, so many teams are capable of achieving something special this year

We don’t have European football for the first time in 3 years so I think we will be able to cope better with fixtures and team selection where as those around us have to deal with a dense fixture list. Big Angela at Spuds, only won in Australia, and once in Japan - he got found out last season, Liverpool are in transition, Chelsea are always Chelsea and United, are crap - so anything could happen.
I think we are going to see a big difference in our subs during matches… I think Loppy is going to use a very different approach to subs in a lot of our matches…. I am very pleased with our business so far… the Celta Vigo game today sort of highlighted what we are aiming for…. I am looking forward to us playing more football this season…. The results really are not that important to me…. what I want to see is the beginnings of a strong team and the improvements to be made as the season progresses…. We need time on all sides but I definitely have no concerns about any relegation risks…. Plus we don’t have Europe this season so it will give us breathing space to develop even our first six games don’t take us out of London…. ⚒. Thanks for taking the time to share mate… cheers 🍻
Throw in Todibo instead of Aguerd, whereas the composition of the midfield 3 will depend on the oppo: Rodriguez for JWP when they need to defend a bit more, whereas Kudus will play CAM imo when on the front foot with Paqueta and Alvarez (when fit) behind. Also, Duran may still come in after West Ham play Villa in the first game to add another dimension in attack.
A coach once told me you can get 3 seconds on a defender by reading the game and being alert. Fulkrug has this vision He'll get West Ham 15 goals this season.
I think Todibo will be playing ahead of Aguerd (or maybe both if we have a back 3). As the season goes on I would love to see Alvarez/Rodriguez, Paqueta and Kudus as the 3 mids then Summerville, Bowen, Fullkrug as our attack.
I see the idea of fitting all our best players in one team and against lower quality teams it could work however it’s very risky playing Paqueta Kudus and Alvarez or Rodriguez as a Midfield 3 Alvarez will have to do SO much work

West Ham fan, absolutely buzzing. But it is going to take a while to gel, Kilman has looked dodgy all pre season and I can't help but have Pellegrini 2.0 in the back of my head. But the quality of players Steidten has signed seems to have a different vibe. Hopefully.... we could even get 6th or 7th :D
I would personally swap JWP for Kudus and play him slightly higher, with Bowen cutting in and kudus moving wide. That allows you to play Summerville on the left to pin back defenders and create more attacking options

As a Brighton fan I respect the moves West Ham have made and I think they’ve made a team with more talent than us and have kept their good players as well
They've done some incredible business this summer but I think they'll hit top 6 at best. Still salty that UEFA stopped us from getting Todibo but whatevs...lol
Spot on mate! Only thing I see differently is Aguerd is not starting anytime soon. Todibo or even Mavropanos gets in before he does due to his poor recent form. I can also maybe see Soucek or Rodriguez come into the midfield over JWP against tougher teams just to give us a more defensive midfield. I hope our attack is just as exciting on the field as it is on paper. Kudus, Fullkrug, Bowen, Summerville, even Antonio off the bench is going to be fun to watch!
Wolves fan here, JLO did a great job of keeping us up. He took over when we were rock bottom and got the job done. However, I see what Gary O'Neil did with exactly the same squad (we only made one signing) and it's made me question JLO a bit. Great defensively under him, which ultimately is why we stayed up West Ham won't concede many and Killman is solid but we almost could'nt buy a goal. Cunha our best player looked like a shadow of a man under him, he pretty much sent Alt Nouri to the reserves and Hwang was miles off to. Our 3 best players today. We thought we were in trouble when he left but it was a blessing in disguise. I hope I'm wrong and it was just the bad energy at Wolves at the time because West Ham are building a top squad, would be nice to see them break into the top 6.
Note this is all done before we signed Todibo. AWB is almost complete and apparently we are not finish yet, we are looking for more bodies 1 midfield expected also (looks like Carlos Soler) and maybe another CB. If all that comes to light i would need James to drop another video 😂
Great analysis and wholeheartedly agree. As a Hammer, I didn't think the rebuild would happen so quickly but I'm happy it did. There was a world of difference between the last two friendlies and I hope that the transition will be noticeable within the season. But we also need to be cautious not to get overexcited or negative because this is almost a new team now and I'm sure they need some time to adjust to each other. But I absolutely love the work they've done so far and excited for next season ⚒⚒

I’m excited about newcastle. The squad we had last season without injuries would probably have made top 4. This time round we have Tonali, more depth in defense and hopefully Geuhi. Even without a new RW we should theoretically be better than last season.

Moyes is gone, we might actually be able to play proper football again. Everyone told us to be careful what we wished for when asking for Moyes to go. Well, now we have an actual full squad vs having 11 starters and 2 subs for 3 years. And, we might actually start passing the ball again.

Youth players will start in emergency. Coufal has been number one for many years now so should be viable sub. Cresswell is too old. Thing is though we’ve been used to playing sixty games plus a season with no subs. Having a game on Saturday and no travelling abroad for thursday then Sunday games is going to hugely benefit team practice and recovery time. There are lots of excellent squads in the Premier League and West Ham are finally trying to improve their results by buying players who, weirdly enough, will be playing in their best position. Whatever happens it’s going to be interesting.
Summerville's gonna be a hot ticket once he establishes himself in this side, West Ham are going places with these signings, they've sign some real quality.
Big shout, but I'd say West Ham will finish above Villa this season, partly because Villa are falling foul to the hype train with a fairly mediocre squad, but West Ham also look scary
It's actually good that teams underestimate West Ham initially. Especially in the first half of the season. They tend to do better when the opposition doesn't know where the threats will come from. And then 2nd half of the season it all comes crashing down and they ship the easiest goals against them. Hopefully that changes going forward, but will see. They don't have European football to deal with and have a larger and more formidable (potentially / on paper) roster. No excuses from my point of view, but this league is crazy and they need to unlearn what Moyes conditioned into them regarding reactive vs proactive play. Need to be less cynical. I'd be happy if they get top 6 with European football next season at minimum, but rebuilds can be a coin toss.
I think Summerville is long term replacement for Kudus/Paqueta - one of them will leave at the end of the season. Not mad about it either, kudus is great but not as effective off the left, it’ll be good have a natural left midfielder in that space
James,I don't think you have watched JWP much if you are starting him.He's been very poor with most aspects of his game in 2024. Can't take a set piece.His corners have not reached their man,countless times his free kicks have hit the wall or nowhere near the target.He didn't start yesterday alongside a better no 6 than Soucek,Rodririguez.Instead him and Soucek played the 2nd half.He was dreadful,passed backwards more than forwards,slow to pass and created nothing,no shots or crosses. It's going to be tricky for Loppy to play him or Soucek with no end result.Thus until Alvarez comes back there will be a problem in that midfield slot. It could be against an attacking Villa he may go all out with Summerville starting. For me POTTS is a better player at the role you suggested but no minutes yesterday means he won't start surely.
As a Ammer I couldn’t careless about the other clubs we will finish in the top 3 we beat the Arse the last time we played them, didn’t we beat em twice out of the 3 times we played them, City always give us a good game, but the others so so . Only time will tell

Fear, no. I’m excited by the building we’ve done, and how much stronger we are on paper. But I reckon we’re in for a developing season. We’ll need to back the manager, and be patient. The social media twits will be out in force after every defeat- Ignore them and they’ll disappear- and we’ll need to back the players. I’m hoping next season will be a push up the table, maybe aiming for 5th. But the league is strong, and it’s not a top 4 anymore, but rather a top 8. I just want to see us play good football, pick up some scalps, and steer well clear of the bottom. That’ll do for me for this season.

It's actually good that teams underestimate West Ham initially. Especially in the first half of the season. They tend to do better when the opposition doesn't know where the threats will come from. And then 2nd half of the season it all comes crashing down and they ship the easiest goals against them. Hopefully that changes going forward, but will see. They don't have European football to deal with and have a larger and more formidable (potentially / on paper) roster. No excuses from my point of view, but this league is crazy and they need to unlearn what Moyes conditioned into them regarding reactive vs proactive play. Need to be less cynical.
I'd be happy if they get top 6 with European football next season at minimum, but rebuilds can be a coin toss.

I think Summerville is long term replacement for Kudus/Paqueta - one of them will leave at the end of the season. Not mad about it either, kudus is great but not as effective off the left, it’ll be good have a natural left midfielder in that space
James,I don't think you have watched JWP much if you are starting him.He's been very poor with most aspects of his game in 2024. Can't take a set piece.His corners have not reached their man,countless times his free kicks have hit the wall or nowhere near the target.He didn't start yesterday alongside a better no 6 than Soucek,Rodririguez.Instead him and Soucek played the 2nd half.He was dreadful,passed backwards more than forwards,slow to pass and created nothing,no shots or crosses. It's going to be tricky for Loppy to play him or Soucek with no end result.Thus until Alvarez comes back there will be a problem in that midfield slot. It could be against an attacking Villa he may go all out with Summerville starting. For me POTTS is a better player at the role you suggested but no minutes yesterday means he won't start surely.

Fear, no. I’m excited by the building we’ve done, and how much stronger we are on paper. But I reckon we’re in for a developing season. We’ll need to back the manager, and be patient. The social media twits will be out in force after every defeat- Ignore them and they’ll disappear- and we’ll need to back the players. I’m hoping next season will be a push up the table, maybe aiming for 5th. But the league is strong, and it’s not a top 4 anymore, but rather a top 8. I just want to see us play good football, pick up some scalps, and steer well clear of the bottom. That’ll do for me for this season.
