Greg, I know this is an old video but is there anyway to get a list of the mods you made? I have two of these VC3112’s and would love to make them sound like that.
@@scoduv I still use this amp pretty often and I do have a list of the mods. The mods are kind of invasive to the amp. I bypass an entire gain stage and remove the reverb so I can use the knob for a presence control. Part of the reason I did the mods in the first place was to learn more about amps on something inexpensive . If I were to do it again from scratch, I might try a different approach. My advice is unless you are doing it to learn or you can't afford a different amp like a DSL 40cr I would just buy the Marshall and be done with it.

Basically put a jumper wire to bypass the extra gain stage in the lead channel and change the rest of the parts in the following stages to be almost the same as a Marshall 2203/2204 preamp.

These are sleepers and relatively cheap. As a Vox but I love it.

Gregory Flanagan - it is interesting that reducing the gain makes it more Marshalley! Which gain stage is bypassed? 2nd half of V3?
