    Appreciate this one! Along with Doc Savage, The Shadow is one of my fave pulp heroes. First knew him via the 1970s DC Shadow comics.
    Personally, I think the Shadow's way better than Batman.

    • @michaelpalmieri7335
      @michaelpalmieri7335 4 года назад +5

      Speaking of the D.C. Comics version of the Shadow, that picture of him with his twin pistols looming over the city (at around the 1:10 mark) is actually the front cover of the first D.C. "Shadow" issue from 1973. I know that because I had that issue when I was 13 years old. It was a story called "The Doom Puzzle."
      I also used to have the "Batman" issue where the "Dark Knight" (as Batman is called today) meets the Shadow. It was a tale where the latter assists the former in breaking up a counterfeiting ring in a small town out in the West (Batman at first doesn't know the Shadow is helping him, but slowly begins to realize that it's so; he doesn't find out for sure until the very end). There was one rather ridiculous segment where Bruce Wayne (Batman's secret identity) meets Lamont Cranston at the hotel where he's staying. After speaking with him, Wayne/Batman gets the idea that Cranston is the mastermind behind the counterfeiting gang! This is why I say it's ridiculous, because we all know that Lamont Cranston is the Shadow!
      Anyway, it turns out that the real counterfeiting boss is the old man who owns and runs the hotel.
      A few scenes after capturing the crook, Batman finally gets to meet the Shadow face to face, which gives the "Caped Crusader" a chance to tell the "Master of other men's minds" that "you were my foremost inspiration."
      By the way, I'm actually reading a hardcover version of the "Hitler's Astrologer" story.

      Amen to that. Go thru as many of the radio shows you can find on RUclips or whatever, and the amount of cool REALLY becomes apparent.
      This is a character that still has relevant stories people would want to hear and see. Someone even did a treatment that portrays Lamont and Margo's son Harry starting to follow in his mysterious father's footsteps.

    I actually liked the Alec Baldwin Shadow movie. With that being said, it would be absolutely amazing to get a rebooted live action movie that’s a more faithful adaptation of the Shadow. He’s such a cool character and because DC/WB can’t seem to make a great Batman movie that showcases the character perfectly, it would be perfect to get that quintessential Shadow film.

I love those Pulp hero movie that came out about that time The Shadow, The Phantom, The Rocketeer (don't watch the new TV series if you are fan of the movie it is girly kiddy tripe). Going back further the Doc Savage man of bronze movie is a lot of fun but I will admit a little cheesy. I would love to see these characters get another movie outing especially the Shadow or even the proposed Doc Savage movie starring the Rock Dwayne Johnson with bleach blonde hair would be a sight to see.

      If handled correctly, I believe The Shadow would have a home in today's climate as a crime detective procedural. It actually has the potential to be a good, stylized modern-day noir series ala SIN CITY if someone in Hollywood has the balls enough to do it justice. He's certainly more accessible for TV than Batman since DC and WB can't make up their minds on actually making a Batman TV series due to having that titular character bringing bank as a movie franchise.

      In the short stories The Shadow is more a ninja than an invisible mystic. He uses some of the same techniques. The cloak is there to break up his outline in the shadows. And his jinking while he moved in combat was to throw the bad guys aim off.

      DC comics does not own the publishing rights to use him. They have to borrow the rights in order to use the Shadow in comics like they did in the 80's... If you watch the entire video, it tells you who owns the rights to the Shadow... Currently Dynamite Entertainment has a licensing agreement in order to publish comics based on The Shadow.

    I would like to see some continue, something like a mix between old one and new movies like Kin. Kin was interesting movie where timeshift soldier lost his weapon, and some random kid found it
