I’m currently listening to my BB3, Encore, Tribit, and Boom 2 Plus side by side. It’s not even close. Price aside, the JBL’s just sound better to me. I guess you can call me a JBL fanboy. Boom 2 Plus is my least favorite of the 4 that I’m listening to right now. I want to love the Boom 2 Plus so much because they are more affordable.
The Boombox 3 does have better low end. The Tribit Stormbox Blast also seemed to have a low end advantage over the Boom 2 Plus, but at very high to max volume the Tribit loses some of that bass advantage.
JBL Boombox 3 WiFi would demolish anything from its path. Alan Ross also said he likes the WiFi model more. It has a nicer tuning to his ears. Indoors tuning. And more bass. 😎 His JBL Boombox 3 vs JBL Boombox 3 WiFi video. I know this.
Got my boom2plus. Sounds hollow. Same thing as the space one. Nobody mentions this, except the weight is a bit of a giveaway something might be amiss with the construction of these things. X20 and boombox 3 wifi sounds better for me
If I listen to it on it's own it's not that noticeable, but yeah, when compared to some other speakers it does have just a bit of that hollow sound. All of the Boom series speakers are pretty light weight in comparison to some comparable competitors.
It does sound hollow. I compared it side by side to my BB3 and Tribit. The only thing I like about the Boom 2 Plus is the weight and USB-C power charging. Deep bass and sound quality is my priority. It’s just good, but not 🤯.
@@JaysStraightUpReviewshow do both sound at louder volumes. Even with the eq the boom 2 plus can’t rival the boom box 3? Yeah, but to be fair you can adjust the EQ to take care of some of that. I'm pretty impressed that you can boost the bass up a lot and it doesn't really get distorted. If you do that with the Boom 2 it will distort.
@@JaysStraightUpReviews seems like bass is all these Companies focus on. Honestly im getting bored. I'd like to see a good balanced 3 way tower but i doubt we will anytime soon. The current versions sell too god for them to change and most people arent audiophiles like me

I’m really curious if the JBL BOOMBOX 3 actually sounds better than my speaker system. My setup is the SONY STR-DH190 receiver and the SONY SS-CS3 tower speakers.
Jbl easy winner imo. SC is too muffled and when it wasnt muffled it just didnt have the instrument separation and soundstage that the jbl did... Idk guess im a bit biased as well as someone who Already owns three JBL speakers 😂 Thanks for all you do Jay!❤
Boombox 3 can be had for $350 every other month brand new or sub 300 if you can find a refurb unit. I got mine refurbished with eBay 2 year warranty for $260 including tax.

@@sappyjohnson i dont have such issues. i was clowning anyone paying more for a worse sounding speaker because its a kg or 2 lighter. balancing not needed. 2 would hit tho
Wow... To my ears the JBL boom box definately has a better sound. More rich and more clean. Up to you to decide if its worth the xtra money. 🤔 I'd rather have the JBL. I dont care bout lights. Its cool feature but not necessary for me. I only care bout sound.
The Soundlink Max sounds really nice as long as you don't push it too hard at it's output limit. I think if you were wanting something to use outside the Boom 2 Plus might be the better option and inside the Soundlink Flex might be the better option.

yep the encore remains unrivaled
Not yet.

When I want to know how a speaker actually sounds, I go to those two straight away.
The Boombox 3 sounds way better but the Battery life on them is Complete trash 4 or 5 hours on max Vol and it dies not woth the price imo
Most of these speakers don't last that long at max volume.
The Sony SRS XG500 has a great Battery life but lacks the Vol and Bass of other speakers Especially Compared to the Boombox 3
