    I actually have this pallet from GRABIE & I like them. They are pretty saturated & lots of pretty cool colors. Sooo many colors to choose from. 😂 I haven’t tried their 100% cotton paper yet though. 🤷🏼‍♀️Happy painting everyone. 🎨 🖌️

    I'll definitely be checking out their paper. We all know how expensive 100% cotton paper can be, so it's nice to find an affordable brand that has decent quality.

    I find that Bee paper and Academy have worked quite well for price and appearance. I have had the Grabie post cards for a month, and find them to be consistent with other 100% cotton wc post cards. So many papers, so little time! :)

    I too was sent some Grabbie paint. I found I needed a lot of paint to make the darker tones. I did find that the colours faded over time

      based on the video it kinda looks like they have some Fillers in it. plus the tin looks the same as some other "cheap" paints i have seen online.

    I think the sponge is maybe to clean off your brush of your painting more on the go and can’t rinse your brush in water.

    I just loved the little bird you painted. I didn't realize what it was at first but once I saw the blues I gasped. Just beautiful. Crystal Tan recommended your channel so I'm a new subscriber. I might buy this set. I thought the colors were beautiful.

    I did order but only the 48. I didn’t think I would use the candy colors or metallics. You get half pans with the 48. It was such a good price. I also ordered a pad of paper because I don’t have any that size and a beautiful sketchbook. Free shipping!

      I’ve found that almost ALL the stuff Grabie has can be found for at least half/quarter the price yourself on Temu… they’re a bit of a rip-off actually….unless you want to pay double for not having to research supplies yourself and would rather have them curated for you and turn up (for extra shipping as well) 😂

    The greens looked very chalky and dull in the video. Especially along the bottom of the landscape. Is that how they really are, or is it just the video?

    I appreciate these reviews. I purchased this set and am looking forward to painting with them. I wanted to use them in my journal and just have some fun. I didn't feel like mixing colors and figured I would have plenty of colors to play with. I have some professional watercolors (Winsor Newton, M Graham, Daniel Smith) and will use them for any serious painting project. Sometimes it's good to just have fun and loosen up. Some of my paintings have been done when I'm not taking my painting too serious. Happy Painting!

    I have noticed that some sets of watercolours have distinct colours while in the palette so you know what to expect on the paper. Others are various dark shades on the pallet and you need to swatch them to see what colour they are. Is that a function of different binders or something? Does it indicate good paints from not so good paints?

    With watercolors, lightfastness is critical! Not cool to dismiss artists who are indeed interested in pigment information. If you are a hobby painter or someone who does "crafty" art and do not intend to sell your work, these paints might be fun to play around with, but for professional artists who sell their work and don't want to cheat their buyers, then it's important to pay attention to the quality of the pigments you are using. As as subscribe of your channel, this "review" surprises and disappoints me.

  • @trilliand
    @trilliand Год назад +14

    Those are really cheap colours, hardly any pigment in them, chalky, no depth. I made the mistake of buying something similar on Amazon when I started to paint with watercolors and regretted it soon. Money is much better invested in a small number of real student quality paints. You can mix almost any color you need and there is just such a difference in quality. Also easier to follow tutorials if you have colours that have actual pigment numbers.

    • @samhugh4965

      Since Emma has actually used them, I’ll go with what she says. I think they’d be great for starting out.

    • @trilliand
      @trilliand Год назад +2

      @@samhugh4965 you are absolutely welcome to go waste your money. I commented because I usually enjoy Emma’s channel and tips, but this just isn’t good advice if you are serious about starting out with watercolor. On the plus side though, starting out with these paints, once you switch to quality paint, you will see and appreciate the difference in the results you get.

    • @samhugh4965
      @samhugh4965 Год назад +2

      @@trilliand if you haven’t personally used them, and it doesn’t sound like you have, then your opinion on whether they’re a waste of money or not is irrelevant. My granddaughters would probably enjoy them very much.

    • @trilliand
      @trilliand Год назад +3

      @@samhugh4965 Look, you are entitled to your opinion and I am entitled to mine. These are fun kids watercolors. They are not quality paint. If you do want to know the differences between quality paint and cheap paint, go Google it. But you don’t seem to want to know and that is ok. I feel like people should be aware what they are buying and not be made to feel like they are getting Artist quality paint when in fact they are not.

    • @samhugh4965
      @samhugh4965 Год назад +1

      @@trilliand and as I said before…I value Emma’s opinion, especially since she’s actually USED them. How in the world can you state whether they are acceptable or not if you haven’t TRIED them? You’re lumping everything together based on price alone.

  • @editaedita473
    @editaedita473 Год назад

    Boo what?! Why do you say 100 watercolors and then the swatches are speeded up like crazy and then on top you say I won't test all colors? I was really looking forward to this. Not any more. Not cool.
