I relate to this part so much. I was raised by a single mother and that’s what I was taught. Though it up. Get it done. And true didn’t teach me how to be empathetic and to be tender with my children

So much to cover in this first week of Encountering Emmanuel. I love when Monique reminds us that there are "part of ourselves that need conversion". Yes.....so true. I love what Christie said about having "Joy of Missing out", that we trust in joy where the Lord has us. Also the beauty of the Church in offering us times like Advent to have these holy "resets". Lastly, I love when Lisa says that Joy is not always a feeling but it is a way of living. Amen!!!! Happy Advent friends!

What if when mama put us in our rooms after our tantrums she prayed with us and explained that being silent and alone after a tantrum with Jesus and Mary can be healing.

@@debbiebradel3866 that would be completely different- I would consider that very loving, as well as very helpful in learning how to regulate your emotions. It’s understanding. I pray more mom’s would do something like this!

Interesting so I guess I have mama issues and that’s why it’s so difficult for me to connect with her and pray daily Rosary hmm interesting

So sorry to hear this. What a grace to recognize this, Cynthia, and see how those wounds have affected you, your ability to show empathy, and your relationship with the Blessed Mother. Ask Mary to help you heal in these areas, and look for the tenderness that she wants to give through relationship---with you, and your relationship with your children. We'll be praying too. Thank you for sharing this, the mother relationship is central and complex---so many of us have "mama issues."

Hugs, … I hope this knowledge helps with your prayer life. I know it helped mine, as prior to figuring this out, my spiritual life would hit a wall, as I would blame myself for not being able to do a daily rosary like other “good” Catholics do. I actually had a priest say “what’s wrong with you? I’ve never heard that!” when telling him about what would happen when I would pray the rosary. Talk about demoralizing! But God always has His work arounds, and we can lean on those. Find a prayer devotion that fits YOU and stick with that 😀 it gives you time to work out the “rosary” issues in peace.

@@MoniqueGonzalez1212 oh no Monique that’s so sad what that priest did to you. Thankfully our Mother is stronger and smarter than anyone out there. She found a way to your heart and will do it with me too🙏🏼
